Funny how you and I don't have that problem. Hopefully, as they age they will realize it's the journey, not the destination. My neighbor that you met is a little like that. She only enters small races where she can place for her age group. No sense of fun! (I still can't believe she didn't take her Krispy Kremes!) Oh well, to each his own!Wendy: Nancy and I are doing the Panama Canal crossing with Disney Cruise Line this summer and we were just planning some excursions in Mexico. That's why I said wrong thread. Our "Pirate" thread (as it is called) has thousands and thousands of pages and gets anywhere from 20 to 40 pages of posts a day. We both gave up on it long ago! A little sad to not be one of the group, but it is way too much for us to manage. So we usually do all our discussions via PM. And Nancy is on my team, I am going to make sure she is out there walking the deck every day!
Too funny about your daughter....I know some kids like that!Funny how you and I don't have that problem. Hopefully, as they age they will realize it's the journey, not the destination. Gotta run and get my bathing suit on for water aerobics!

Are you going to run ten miles or walk ten miles?
One of the best racewalkers in the world, Dave McGovern, says this about crosstraining:
If you are walker then train to improve your walking with your cross training. If you train racewalking, then the best cross training is regular brisk walking or hiking. Stretching is also required to be a strong walker.
A walker uses more of their body in walking than a runner does running. A runner runs by pumping the legs up and down. A proper walk stride uses all the leg muscles as well as the core muscles and the arms.

Would you please explain the difference between regular fast walking and racewalking.
to you.We registered on line yesterday for the 2009 WDW Marathon. Erica said she couldn't find where to register for the 5K that's the same weekend. Can someone put a link up for her.

Jeanne---For some reason I have not been able to get into the part of DCL website that has the information about the excursions. I put all the information in and nothing happens. Will try again later this week. I'm glad that Fran is eager to go on an adventure. We will just have to leave the men fend for themselves.
Dave--- I guess we Jeanne and I will just have to fight off the Pirates ourselves since the men won't be there to protect us. Maybe it will be Capt Jack who takes us away.

(My kids always say "please don't show that one, Mom!" They are completely mortified by Momma and her friends behavior!)A walker uses more of their body in walking than a runner does running. Can't wait....sounds like fun!
Let's hope those pirates look like captain Jack! If not, you ladies can throw them overboard to swim with the sharks!
Isn't that part of our job as parents.Duckie, please tell us a short bio of where you are right now as an athlete? Your age, physical condition ect. How much exercise are you doing now and for how long have you been exercising.
Have you been fitted for shoes at a good running/walking store? Do you have clothes that work goos for you and don't cause any chaffing?
How far is the longest regular walk you are doing now?
Inquiring Panda![]()
I am scheduled to do a 10 mile training walk the week prior to that.
Good Afternoon!
A quick post for me today -- I could not find my rhythm last night, so although I was on the TM an hour, I didn't go very far.
Oh, Panda, Our Wild and Wooly Panda -- Everywhere you go is an adventure, isn't it?! I don't think you should be allowed out without supervision! Glad you had a good time, even with the parking woes!![]()
Duckie -- My only advice to you is to not try to do too much too soon. Take it from someone who learned the hard way...increasing your mileage too fast leads to injury and disappointment.![]()

Life is to short to follow all the rules, don't cha know. You should have seen Erica, she was going to be medival on someone if she didn't get her new VW back. I haven't seen her that livid for a while. Not since the dentist did a $4000 bridge job then told her he didn't take our insurance anymore.
But we rescued it and didn't have to pay the ransom. "Think John Belusi in Animal House".

$4,000?! He is lucky he is still breathing (I'm assuming he is; you didn't actually say what she DID to him...)
Glad you had a good time.
