They had to do something....CA just hasn't worked out attendance wise. Disney expected folks to consider it a whole new park, we are in the group who love it, but just consider it a new land in Disneyland, like when they added Toontown.

Toy Story Mania is already under construction and will be opening next summer. Next to be updated is Paradise Pier, with the removal of some of the rides and the addition of World of Color nighttime show and the Little Mermaid dark ride and play area. The entrance is next and while that is being worked on, I've heard that the entrance will temporarily be moved to Hollywood Pictures Backlot near the old Millionaire building. After the entrance is done, Carsland will be built. Everything is supposed to be done by 2012.

Gotta admit though, i am slightly bummed, as we are going out there for Feb. break, and i haven't been there for 10+ years,so i was really looking forward to seeing the parks -- granted they aren't touching DLR, but i am sure DCA will be a construction zone by then...

What do all you experts think they will be doing by then? Do you think it will take away from the feel of the park if you go during this construction?

It's amazing how much Disneyland and the resorts have changed in the last ten or so years. Now it's seems like forever before this will be finished, but I'm sure it will be here before you know it. I can't wait, but then I think my son will be like 8 years old when it is completed and then I'm sad to think he will be so much older by then. Well, at least he will be age ready to really enjoy it. Thanks for the info. It looks great.

I am so excited about Al Lutz' recent column, Elephant Acknowledged! The plans for DCA sound phenomenal and honestly, I'm almost giddy about the fact that these awesome attractions are coming to DISNEYLAND! I almost want to jump around saying neener neener neener!

So often we hear about all the great things happening at WDW or Paris, etc., and now it's DLR's turn. In a mere five years, DLR will be a premium Disney destination! DCA will no longer be an overflow park for DL, but a destination unto itself. We will be top dog for a while! I finally feel like we are getting some "love". I applaud John Lasseter for focusing on DLR and bringing it up to date.

Don't get me wrong, I visit WDW quite often, but I left my heart at Disneyland!
