I just got a call from my dx. My insurance isn't going to cover fertility issues. I should have known.

My dx told me to let her know if I wanted to go ahead and they could get me in for next month at the RE to find out about the fibroids, then move on from there. Kenny and I are going to go and see what the options are and decide what to do. If they have a good payment plan or if I can find infertility insurance, that would help a lot.

I need some around here after the last few days!

Ah crudballs I'm sorry! What in the heck is wrong with these people. You are really good at researching online I'm sure so maybe you can find some co-insurance? You never know, something you find may also help someone else someday! I really hope you do. Also don't forget to talk to your drs billing office. Those ladies/guys are magic sometimes with coding things!

My insurance didn't cover infertility treatments either. But it did cover everything to diagnose it - if that makes sense. Also, had we had to move on to IUI it would cover the ultrasounds....just not the actual IUI itself. I want to say they told me that my part not covered by insurance for IUI would have been around $400. I would definitely call the insurance company yourself and ask very specific questions about coverage. Also the RE's office was great in getting the correct information on how things would have been covered. All my office visits and ultrasounds and labwork were covered by insurance. I only had my copay on the visits. Did you decide on an RE?

oh man, I know how that goes!! Good luck finding some type of co-insurance or something.

Like Amanda, my insurance does cover some testing, but not treatments. Mine didn't cover any tests once they know you are ALREADY in TREATMENT though. So make sure you ask very specifically about that too, if they do end up covering testing.

Sorry I have been quiet. Still trying to heal (emotionally and physically). Also on top of that I've developed a cold and seemingly a double ear infection (SOOO much pressure, and pain, and my hearing is not so great). I'm seeing the eye dr to followup with my right eye and make sure the cornea or retina was not affected.

I'm hoping maybe I can ask him to have a looksie in my ears. I'm already on antibiotic for my leg wound but I guess that's not the right kind. It's clindomycin .

Hi Gabbie,

Amanda offers really good advice. If you get diagnosed and it's covered, maybe the rest is reasonalby doable. I'm so sorry. Insurance stinks sometimes.

Morning Ladies,

I hope everyone is feeling alright- sorry about all these ear issues going around.

Last night I went to sleep and my husband said he wanted to stay up. This morning he told me he was up googling ways to increase your chances of getting pregnant and how to treat infertility. It just caught me off guard because usually I am the one staying up late endlessly googling (like I am going to find something new that I haven't already heard ). It sort of made me nervous because that means he is getting worried now too .

Oh well, there is not much that we can do... cross our fingers and keep trying I guess.

I am really crossing my fingers for you MommaSnowWhite- I think you're the only one in the TWW now! Best of luck!

eye was good, the eye dr said I'm very lucky! But now I'm going to see my Primary doctor in a half hour. My leg seemed to be feeling a little better yesterday and today it's worse! I'm mainly going for my stupid earaches and stuffy nose, etc. But I figure why not kill two birds with one stone, so I'll also have him look at the bite to make sure it's healing properly. I would think with the antibiotic, why wouldn't it be healing right.

Just got back from the doc. Got a shot in my bootie!!

He said he didn't want to give me more antibiotics and have me on so many. So he just said keep taking the clindomycin and that the shot should give my nose/ears a boost. Then he prescribed an antihistimine. He looked at my wound and said it was looking good, probably hurting worse from my airing it out last night (upon Mike's wishes). However he did say I need to start airing it out every evening! Boo, that's what makes it hurt!! But if it helps it heal, then I'll do it.

So glad your leg is healing well....but sorry it hurts. I'm also terribly sorry that you have had to go through this. I am SO not a little dog person, but when we decided to get a dog we decided to go with a small one because of this very thing....no matter how well loved and behaved a dog is it is still an animal. And I know that a small dog can bite, injure, and scar but there is a whole lot less chance of a fatal injury. I'm so so glad you are okay, and I'm sure your heart is just broken about your dog. I know as angry and upset as I would be in your situation I would be terribly sad and still grieve for the loss of my dog as well. Hope you continue healing both physically and mentally quickly.

thanks so much Amanda. Those are exactly my sentiments. It's a really tough situation to go through. Each day goes by and I go home and realize that Chance is no longer there. Sometimes I have to hold back the tears. I really have to remember that God lets things happen for a reason, and there was a reason for this too.

KG don't let it make you to nervous. I think it's great that he is taking an active part. Mike really only goes by what I or the dr tell him. He is VERY supportive of what ever I think "WE" want or need and he has also spoken to a friend of ours who has gone through this with his wife but guys just don't talk like we do Hey! If he finds anything out interesting be sure to share! Remember they think differently so the men may find out different things that we would never have thought of! I see it as a big hug and him totally committing to your journey! IMHO it's a good thing

Ok. I just got back from the dxs. My insurance won't cover fibroids/laprascopic either. I talked to the dx and she said I had two options to take care of the fibroids: surgery or lupron.

Surgery would be mondo-expensive and more importantly; leave scars on my uterus. If I were to get preggo, I would have to have a c-section. Uh-uh, not doing that. I'm a c-section baby and there were complications that resulted in my Epilepsy.

So....I chose option b. Lupron. It is a shot that basically brings on menopause. I have to take it for 3 months and then, I should be fine. It shrinks down my fibroids. She said they can give me pills to keep me from losing my mind during this time and they can give me something to start my AF again if she gets stuck. Best news: Lupron IS covered by my insurance!

Right now, I am not using an RE. This may change down the road. She said that once I have the "green light" there are meds to try that can help with fertility.

Oh....and Kenny has to give a sperm sample. Why does he get the fun job?!

I go in after I get back in June and start getting the shot. It's once a month. So, it's gonna be a fun summer.

So, that's all for now. Oh, after I got a scrip for bc pills (to help me start my cycle this month), guess who finally showed up?

Esbrick- you are totally right I should have looked at my husband doing research as a good thing. I know he wants a child as much as I do, so now he is helping- or maybe he just wanted to know if I was telling him the truth about all this info

And Kennywife- at least it sounds like they have a plan. I hope this summer goes quickly and easily for you! Just curious- how did they find out that you had the fibroids to begin with?

I found out about the fibroids last summer during an ultrasound. It was a very scary thing. I didn't know if they were cancerous or not. Turned out to be just fibroids. Luckily, they are small enough to shrink. They caught ma's too late and she had to have a hysterectomy.

Wow honey that's great that you have a plan for getting rid of those darn fibroids! Yahoo! I have heard that the Lupron is not fun because of the hot flashes so just be ready. I have also heard that for some people that they don't get many symptoms so I'm crossing my fingers that you are part of that group.

That's good that she finally showed herself. Will you start the BCPs to maintain her visits then next month?
