Si-am, my first re appt is November 3rd, too! Hopefully it will be a good day for both of us!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. My birthday was Sunday. I'm now 31!! I always said I wanted to be done with kids by 30. So much for that. Funny how those things change. I always said I'd be done by 30 and kids would be 3-5 years apart. Now, I'm 31 and ds is 6. *sigh*

OK so today the "machine" gave the smiley and the whole thing was lit up. This is kinda off from what I've been counting manually. . . Hubby was excited though!

D&DD ~ Sorry for the visual!:lmao: Ha! Here's a better one, you're sitting in an Irish pub sharin stories with two crazy people from IL and drinkin a nice cold beverage! All is good with the world!:thumbsup2

Si-am ~ I am so excited for you! You will be getting the answers that you need and that is so important. The anticipation is the worst though. ;) I'm sure you will have your list of questions ready which is important. If you can, print out a copy for the RE so that you can both go down the list and make sure you are on the same page, so to speak.

Allison ~ Happy Birthday! I thought I would be done by 31 too and here I am 38 and just starting. Andrew Greely once said "God draws straight lines crookedly." Crazy but when you think about it, it makes sence some times. :cutie:

I'm off to the Dr. this afternoon. I've had some hip issues and had x-rays yesterday. I go at 11:20 am to get them read. They asked me if I were pregnant when they took the x-rays yesterday and I told them, honestly, I don't know but if you see anything could you drop me a hint! :) I'm hoping that all is ok. I'm a little nervous. I like knowing what's up and tackeling it! Again, fingers crossed it's "work outable"!

Talk to yas soon!

Hi everyone! This is my first time to this thread and we are not ttc yet but I do have a couple of questions that i think you ladies could possibly give me some opinions. I hope you don't mind. :flower3:

First off a little background about me. I'm 26 years old and have been on BCP for about 8 years. I went on a low dose (ortho tri cyclin lo) when I was 18 to help minimize cramps and regulate my cycle. About 1.5 years ago, my doc switched me to Seasonique b/c I was having symptoms of endometriosis. That has helped tremendously with pain.

Now, DF and I are getting married in April 2010 and I have all of a sudden REALLY started thinking about starting a family. For the first time I feel like my biological clock is starting to tick. :laughing:We talked about it this past weekend and decided that, rather than waiting the 2-3 years to start trying we will probably start sometime within the first year of marriage as I will be at least 27 or 28 by the time the first one comes around and we want 3+.

So my questions are, if you were on BCP before ttc, how long prior to trying did you go off it?
Also, has anybody around here had endometriosis? How much did that effect ttc?
Do you think being on BCP for so long will effect my chances?
I'm new to all this and have been trying to research so I'm prepared and well, you ladies all seem so nice and understanding. I go to the doc next week for my annual exam and am considering chatting with her about this but i want to get as much info as possible before then. I'm sorry for crashing your thread. Baby dust to all of you trying. :wizard: You are definitely in my prayers!

Disneygal922 hope you are well and your wedding planning :bride: is going well! This is a great place to come to have your questions answered and as usual we hope you don't have to stay!:)

I have not heard that being on BCPs have hindered getting pg. I have heard stories of women getting pg after being off only a month! Depends on your body. I can tell you that you want to start on your prenatal vitamins NOW to get your body ready. Some will make you sick and some will be fine. You may need to shop around but in the process you will benefit from fast growing hair and strong nails! Bonus!:thumbsup2 I also definately reccommend making a list of questions, and a copy of this list for your dr to bring with you when you go see him/her on your next visit, that way you can cover your most important questions, ie the one about your endometrosis and if there is anything more you should do now to prepare your body for TTC. Letting him/her in on your plan is key!;)

Unfortunately with TTC problems you never really know you have them until you start unless you have a prediagnosis of something or other. As we have all learned it is better to know, even if it is not great news, so that you can find the work around (ie drugs, IVF, adoption) and stop beating yourself up because it's not happening naturally. Believe me, talk to your friends, more often then not people need a little help getting pg.

You are at the beginning of your journey and I truely hope that it will be a wonderful one full of joy and wonder and you don't spend much time here. That being said please never hesitate to ask a question. The many different answers and support you get will help you and possibly someone else who may have needed the same answer but didn't know it!

Best,
E:flower3:

I'm tending to sick  people as the flu has invaded our house.
I guess that means I can kiss another month good bye.

Hey E....Care to join me with a spiked drink of Theraflu???

Amen sister! I'm all about "medicinal" support;) DSD woke up this am not feeling well. Her mom and I both think it is "that time of the month" involved though. She was doing her best to look sick this am. :cutie: Can't blame her though. It's a crummy day here today so to be honest I wouldn't have minded staying home myself. It's a great curl up on the couch with a warm "medicinal" drink and watch bad lifetime movies!:lmao:

Hi disneygal - congratulations on the wedding!! To answer your questions:
I was on bcp for 6 years before starting ttc, then stopped for 3 months, used other protections, then got pg the first month without trying. I had heard that you should give your body time to regulate after going off bcp, but I have since heard that is really not necessary. And my ob office has an endo specialist who later told me that she often recommends no waiting period after stopping bcp, especially for endo patients b/c going off bcp can sometimes trigger the release of 2 eggs and increase your chance of getting pg.

I did have endo, surgically removed (along with ovarian cysts) when I was 18, then went through 6 months of lupron. When I was 23, I was starting to feel the pain again, so I went back on lupron for 6 months to try to avoid another surgery. I was also on bcp the entire time after the first dose of lupron, and at some point switched to seasonique, which I am using again (hopefully not for much longer!) It obviously did not affect ttc at all for me, since I got pg the first month trying, but it can for some people, depending on the severity of the endo. Although, DH claims that his boys are so powerful, they overcame my health problems.

I don't think you have been on bcp too long, and it shouldn't affect your chances.

Good luck, and I hope your stay here is short! :goodvibes

HI ladies

I don't know if any of you have seen this, but it's a website giving away OPKs and pregnancy tests. I have no idea if it's legit, but it was on the Freebie list on the Budget Board.

http://www.freeopks.com/

Hope it helps someone.

Jen

Hey Jen thanks so much for thinking of us! This is quite helpful as these OPK's and Pregnancy tests are not exactly cheap!

It's a crummy day out today. . . again! The "machine" has said that my "go time" is done for the most part. :upsidedow Now let's hurry up a wait right;)

Hope everyone is feeling better and have a great weekend!

E, thanks so much for the info. I'll be sure to stick around here. While we aren't trying yet, I want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row for when we do and you ladies are so helpful. :thumbsup2

Pollito, thanks so much for responding. I'm glad to hear the bcp didn't hinder your chances and neither did the endo. My endo wasn't bad enough for them to do surgery but I think we caught it, and got me on Seasonique, before it got to that point. Also, I didn't realize going off bcp could trigger the release of 2 eggs. That's really good to know! :thumbsup2

Baby dust to all! :wizard: And thanks again for all the info!

Do you mind if I join this thread?

DH and I have been TTC since his VR on July 25th 2008. Looks like it wasn't the greatest success as we only have 32 million total, and only 3 million post wash:sad2:
Also my cycles have been anywhere from 35-48 days long. I've had Lap. surgery in Aug. and all looked good, no endo, tubes open. I have slightly high testostorone levels, which is what is most likely throwing off my cycles some.

We're moving onto IVF, since our chances of IUI working are so slim. I am on CD1 today, and go in for CD3 bloodwork on Sunday, and start BCP on CD5.
I'm 35 and DH is 36.

Welcome minnieandmickeymouse! Hope your stay with us is a short one:)

In a funky mood! I think it may be 5 o'clock somewhere and I need to fine out where that is!

Have a great weekend!

E

mickeyandminniemouse-Welcome. I just went through IVF in August and if you have any questions or anything, I'll be happy to answer or help where I can. We only did one IUI because the doctor said it was just a waste of time and money for us, since we didn't have any real problems (that were ever found, anyway).

Just because the machine says you're done, doesn't mean you have to be. ;) Never hurts to "put more guys on the field" just in case. :rotfl2:

Oh, and it is 5:00 here! :drinking1

Jen - Thanks for the link! :thumbsup2

:welcome:minnieandmickeymouse !!!! Always room for more.

WDWAurora~I'm sure I'll have questions, I have no idea what it's going to be like.
I did my cd3 bloodwork today, and start the bcp tomorrow. It sure does seem funny taking bcp when you want to become pregnant!
9 more days until our appt. with the RE!!

Thanks ladies for welcoming me:)

I know I had to do BCPs for at least 2 weeks prior. I ended up on them like 6 weeks because they didn't have an opening to do a cycle sooner.

Hi girls well feeling a bit better about the TTC thing. Met with the RE today and she was wonderful. She is putting me on clomid and starting the whole process. She said that we will work on the weight gain and the other stuff after that I have waited long enough!!!! So I did the bloodwork today and then I wait to see if my LH is up if it isn't then I will start the progesterone to make AF come and then I can start the clomid U/S and then HCG shots. I have been given 6 cycles to get pregnant if not then it will be IVF and we will be skipping IUI.

soontobewed...Congrats on the first RE appt!! I hope the clomid does the trick for you!! Good luck! :goodvibes

soontobewed-It's nice to have a plan! Hopefully the clomid does it for you. The process with all the u/s can be fascinating. If you do end up with IVF, remember, I'm always available for questions!! If I can help anybody else go through this, I'm more than happy to.

kiki mouse-I'm 13 weeks (tomorrow) and have no complaints. I hope you're doing well, too.
