mrsklamc... I figure you can use all of the hugs you can get right now!!

I talked to the nurse earlier today, and she asked if I would be interested in trying a 4th IUI. I told her I didn't know. I told her to ask the Dr. If my Dr thinks we have a shot, I'll try it. But I don't want to waste time and money on another IUI if my Dr thinks it's a lost cause. The nurse said that some people ask for one more IUI before going to the RE. If she thinks we have a chance, that there's something we did "wrong" the other 3 times, then I'll try it. Otherwise, I'd rather just move on.

This AF has been strange. I spotted Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday I had heavier spotting, but never any real "flow" like a normal period. Today, barely spotting and when I do it's brown. Weird.

mrsklamc,

I know people that have had thyroid cancer and have had surgery and now take thyroids and they are good :) Don't get hung up on the c word and focus on the success stories out there. There's LOTS. You have all of our support...remember that. :)))

Dr said no point in doing a 4th IUI. I have the number for the RE. :(

He can look at your case with a fresh perspective, and probably lots more ideas about what can be done. Think of it as hopeful progress. :)

Thank you. The surgery is scheduled for the 22nd and I will be honest, I am scared. I was all prepared for the thyroidectomy and then when I went in yesterday she told me they are also going to remove all of the lymph nodes in the left side of my neck. I have never had any kind of surgery before and am very scared of the pain.

Skuttle- I pray you call the RE. I bet you will be glad you did.

 All our thoughts and prayers are with you. Its okay to be scared. This is a scary thing. However, I know everything will work out and you will get through this. :grouphug:
I had a few out-patient surgeries and yes there is pain. However, the doctors and nurses were great at managing the pain for me. Yours will be too. Be upfront and honest with them about your fears, concerns and any pain you are feeling and I bet they will do everything they can to help you get throught this.

mrsklamc...:hug::hug: I had my first surgery ever in June when I had my hysteroscopy. I wasn't scared of the procedure, but terrified of the anesthesia. I was so afraid I wouldn't wake up, or would get sick. I had myself so worked up. About 30 min before, they gave me the "happy shot" and I was fine. LOL! I agree with D&D...be honest and up front with your Drs and nurses and they will take care of you. Don't be afraid to voice how you are feeling, if you are in pain, etc. You will do great!!

I sent an email to the RE, but never heard back from them, so I will call on Monday. My main concern with the RE is the cost. That's the biggest hurdle now. I would IVF in a heartbeat if we had the money...but we don't. :sad2:

mrsklamc-I'm just like Allison with the fear of anesthesia. Before my retrieval, I was completely afraid I wasn't going to wake up. I definitely never relaxed beforehand, despite my pain pill I took before, but it was a great nap! I've heard the radio djs I like say that a lot (they're of colonoscopy age) and it's so true. They put an oxygen mask over my face in the "operating room" and I FREAKED and was sure it was going to smother me (strong rubbery smell and I felt like I couldn't breathe). After I woke up, the only thing that bothered me was still having the IV in. I asked the nurse when I could get rid of it, and the response was when I walked to the bathroom. I was ready immediately! I wanted that thing out of my arm (I had sat in recovery for a little while already)!!

Make sure they give you plenty of pain meds to get started at home. You'll be fine. You've got a lot of people pulling for you!!

Allison-The first visit will just be for a consult anyway. Take your DH. The RE will have a lot of questions for both of you, plus you'll need another set of ears because it's so overwhelming. Don't worry about IVF yet. The RE may have a lot of other things to talk about first. I was with mine a year before they brought up IVF, although I hadn't done any IUIs beforehand. I feel like they're probably going to want to put you on stronger meds and do an IUI themselves. Just a guess, though. The cost-there are a lot of variations in the cost. For one cycle, it's in the 7ish range, plus meds, at most clinics, I think. Shared success is more like 15, plus meds, but for us, it was more all inclusive and made better overall sense. We were determined not to finance it, but in the end, we did. My dad did a home equity loan that only requires us to make a small monthly payment, but we're treating it as a car payment for as long as we can afford to. I know a lot of people told me at first not to let the cost throw me off, and it was impossible. Eventually, if you need to, you figure out how to make it work. Sorry I wrote you a book...I'm anxious tonight and anxiety makes me talk a lot (i.e. right before the egg retrieval. DH didn't think I'd ever shut up)

Thanks, Courtney. I know we will figure out a way to make it work, whatever "it" may be. When I found out I was pregnant with DS, I was just starting my last semester of law school and DH was still in college (late starter) and didn't finish until 2 years after DS was born. We had no idea how we were going to find an extra $500+ a month for daycare, diapers, formula, etc. But somehow we found it. I know it'll be the same way with this.

Hi ladies! Just wanted to check in and throw my hugs and baby pixie dust for all in! :hug:pixiedust:

Hi ladies, sorry to kinda highjack but I have a question about HSgs...

I had an HSG done last Tuesday 6th Oct. The examination and speculum parts of the test were extremely painful for me, to the point where I actually cried. The rest of the test including the catheter and the dye, I didn't feel a thing, no cramping or anything.

I had the usual couple days of spotting afterwards but then everything seemed fine.

However, last night I couldn't sleep because I had such strong stomach cramps. I put it down to maybe a tummy bug and thought I'd probably throw up or something. I woke up this morning and the cramps are still there but I've realised they're low down, as though it's uterine cramps.

I'm quite worried by this, I've been sent home from work because they're pretty painful and I never suffer from cramps. It's also only CD20 so I'm not due AF for at least a week.

Has anyone else experienced cramps this long after an HSG? I also have PCOS, so I wondered if it could maybe be a cyst that is starting to rupture? The only thing that makes me think it's not this is that when I had a ruptured cyst before the pain was on one specific side of my abdomen.

Thankyou for any help anyone can give me, and sorry for the essay! I'm just a little scared as to what this could be :sad1:

I am sorry you are hurting. I think you need to give your doctor a call. Hope you are feeling better.

Denae

Emimy, I would give your dr a call if you are still having pain. I was lucky and didn't find my hsg that bad. If you are still having pain, something else may be going on.

Well, I did it. I called the re and our consult is nov 3rd. I'm nervous because this will be the first male dr I ever have!! All of my Drs and even ds' drs are women!

Emimy ~ OMGoodness! I would definately give your dr a call and see if maybe you have an infection of some sort. Honestly, even a kidney infection could give you really bad pain. Good antibiotics will help you or if you need a light muscle relaxent? Let us know what happens!

Allison ~ Glad you made your appointment. I know it was hard taking the next step but at least this will give you a better guide instead of thinking all the woulda, coulda, maybes. Sometimes the anticipation is the worst part!

Well, I've started the ovulation machine again. :rolleyes1 I think that I got the times right this time which is good:thumbsup2! Now I just gotta remember to pee in a cup every morning when I wake up. Joy! I'm even thinking of putting my phone alarm on every moring with a message reminding me!:rotfl:

Hope your weekends were good!

E

Emimy - Welcome!!!! Yes... please call the dr. and let us know what happens. We'll be here to chat any time.

Skuttle - Yay on taking the next step. Male Drs make me a little uneasy too, but I am sure if he's a good one, your fears will be short lived. Good luck

esbrick - Yay on starting the "machine". I've always wanted to get one, just couldn't justify the costs. Keep us updated on how things go. Oh...and happy peeing!!! :rotfl2:

No news here to report. Tried an hpt this weekend but BFN. :guilty: I think I just have my dates mixed up. That's what I get for not writing down my dates any more.

esbrick...LOL! You make me laugh every time you mention the "machine." LOL!! I hope you can figure it out this month!!

D&D...I still keep track of at least my AF start date (for all of those Dr visits!) on my iphone through a free app. DH accidently added it to his phone the last time he updated his iphone. LOL!! He quickly deleted it!

Emimy- I had cramping for 2 weeks after my HSG both times. I would call the doctor and see what they have to say.

Skuttle- Glad you made the appt. I have mine Oct. and I am very nervous I don't really know what to expect.

Baby Dust to everyone

No cost here D&DD! I actually got it from one of my sales guys wives. She said she was done and it was successful for her so she gave it to me. One thing I have learned on this wild ride is that there are more people who have either been on it before or are currently riding along with you. :upsidedow

Ha! Gotta love the "machine"! Actually it's a love hate thing to be honest:rolleyes:! So far so good I guess it is also good info to bring to the dr when I go in 2 weeks to tell her when/ if it moves/ shows a change.

Mom's coming in for a visit tomorrow. . . I think. She has a cold  so not sure yet if she'll be able to fly. :sad1: Fingers crossed she'll be good to go but it doesn't sound like it.:upsidedow

Have a great day ladies! Baby dust to you all!
