Happy Halloween Everyone!

I just want to say...if any of you are suffering from the unexplained, irregular periods, but all the other tests come out fine, and your weight has gone up since going off the pill-try cutting out refined sugars. Holy cow. Since I went in on the 17th and the doctor told me to loosely follow the south beach diet and cut refined sugars and try to eat foods that are good on the glycemic index, i.e. no potatoes, I've dropped about 7 lbs. Unreal. It's been like my miracle. I've definitely cheated some (I'm about to eat some doritos, actually) and it's pretty hard, but if I can get back down a little, I will feel so much better about myself.

7lbs in a week and a half-no complaints here!

Can you give me a general list of foods youare avoiding and foods you are eating? I would really like to give this a try but I am pretty intimidated by the entire process, and a bit lazy, to boot.

Thanks,

Denae

I'm avoiding potatoes, any sugary drink (including juice, for the most part), white rice, non-whole wheat bread, cakes, cookies, candy, etc. The potatoes are the hardest for me! I try to check the carbs of everything I eat. Before I go to lunch, if I'm going to a fast food place I try to check their website and eat about 40 carbs. That's kind of my limit for lunch, usually. I'm supposed to eat less processed food and more fresh, but I have a hard time with that because of working so much. But tonight, I went to Panera and had broccoli cheese soup with a turkey sandwich on whole wheat. At Chick-fil-a I get the grilled chicken that's on a wheat-ish bun with no fries or sweet tea.

It's hard!

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you are all doing well.

Hi all!

How are things going? Any good news to share??

Hi everyone. Well I am calling today to schedule IUI #3. At least I am going to Disney soon. It is nice to have something to look forward to.

--Tracie

I have to go to a class tomorrow to learn how to administer the next round of injections. I don't know why I have to do a class this time and didn't for the others, but oh well. At least I was able to schedule it on a holiday so I don't have to take time off from work.

Hi everyone-- just saw this thread and I'd like to join up!

I'm 34 and my husband and I have been TTC since April '07. Finally went to the doctor about it over the summer and I got a vague diagnosis of PCOS (she saw one cyst in a sonohystogram) but I'm sort of doubting it since I don't have any other symptoms and my Dr has never mentioned it again. :confused3

My bloodwork has all come back perfect, and my cycles are like clockwork. I'm ovulating, and my husband's sperm analysis was good.

The only thing is I can't seem to get pregnant! :( I've been on Femara for the past three cycles but it didn't work, and now I'm being referred to an RE.

The more I try and fail, the more I become desperate to get pregnant. Needless to say, I'm not in a good place right now.

It seems like there are several other people on this thread who are going through the same thing. I hate it!

We have a WDW trip planned for Christmas, so I think I'm just going to put off the next steps (the RE, a new Clomid prescription) until the new year. This time of year is just too busy anyway to deal with all of this stuff.

Welcome Si-am!!!!
There's a saying here... we love to have you, but hope your stay is short.

Many here are in the same situation you are.
We're here to :sad1: with, :headache: vent or just :listen: . We've been there, bought the t-shirt and then some.

Good luck to you! Your decision to wait until after the holidays sounds like a smart one. :thumbsup2

Welcome Si-am. I have a lot of the same issues, meaning that there's nothing documented that is wrong! They mentioned PCOS with me, but multiple ultrasounds have showed no cysts. The main difference is that I don't have regular periods, but that's been corrected by Femara and ovidrel (a shot to make me release the eggs), so I'm not sure what the problem is. We started this in April of '07, too! I'm a little younger, so they're pretty cautious with the interventions because DH and I are strong candidates for high order multiples due to age. I know exactly what you mean about not being in a good place. I was in horrible shape at Christmas last year, and now there are two new babies in the family. I can't imagine how I'll be over the next month or so.

Welcome-hope your stay with us is a short one.

Well AF arrived today, but I'm glad because at least that means I won't have to deal with it at WDW. Didn't really try this month either...after the chemical pregnancy last month didn't want to deal with the "what ifs" again this month right before our trip. I'll be calling for DH's followup soon though. :)

Skuttle, when are you in WDW? We are there Dec 1-8.
AF shall be arriving for me any minute now. I can feel it. I keep going to the bathroom to check.
Ugh.

Anyway...let me know your dates...maybe...just maybe we could do a dismeet?

Kiki, we're there the week of Thanksgiving. We come home on Nov 29th so we'll miss you. Too bad! I would just love to meet some of the TTC ladies!:goodvibes

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

Infertility is terrible and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but it's nice to find a place here where I can talk about it and people understand. Most of my friends have kids now or just aren't interested, so they just don't really get what it's like!

Ugh - I think I'm getting frustrated with this whole mess. IUI #1 didn't work. The RE wants me to go on birth control pills for a month, and then try again. I'm 10 days into the pack, and what shows up? AF, full force.:confused3 On top of that, 'i just got my $700 bill for the IUI itself (the insurance paid the u/s, labs, and meds, but not the IUI or the sperm washing) Of course I just have $700 laying around, you know :lmao:

Yuck

Skuttle and Kiki Mouse, have a great trip!

Si-am, good luck at the RE.

 si-am, unfortunately, we all do know what it is like. This thread really is the best. It's a great place to vent and not have to care what others think. You don't have to say what you think others want to hear, or react to someone's pregnancy in a way that you are "supposed" to. I don't think I would have been able to make it through all of this for so long without the wonderful girls on this thread. :goodvibes

Tracie..good luck with the next IUI.

Jen...I'm so sorry! Nothing's worse than getting those medical bills!

I'm sorry about the IUI. This is what I'm worried about with going to an RE. Honestly I don't know what else can be done for me except IUI and IVF and my insurance flat out will not cover either of those procedures-- not any part of it.

It just seems like so much money to pay out of pocket for something that might not work.

And if it DOES work, I won't have any savings left to actually take care of a baby! :upsidedow

Welcome to the wonderful world of infertility. Where you'll not only be depressed, but broke too.

We paid for all our IUIs out of pocket so I feel your pain.
Scary thing is after a while $700 doesn't seem that expensive when you compare it to $10,000+ per month for IVF. :scared1: How messed up is that???

This month I'm going with witchcraft and some herbs. I figure at this point, what have I got to lose. :confused3

Geritol and Cough Syrup = the house party appetizer of TTC couples everywhere.

I'm on just a state insurance plan, and everything I've done so far has been covered. Well, the 2nd and 3rd ovidrel triggers weren't, but the first one was. I probably could have argued more with the insurance, but I just wasn't up to it. My twice monthly ultrasounds were and all my other visits and the femara. I'll update after I find out about these next injections. There's a lot that can happen after just trying Femara. There are probably still a lot of tests you haven't had yet, either.

Have you had an HSG yet? That's something they will likely do. A lot of us can give you more info on that if you haven't done it.
