(NEW TR LINK) Mickey MMMouse,McDonald Duck& Memo: 12 Days & 13.1 Miles. Nov 2013 TR

You will notice I have added a new ticker below.

That's right, yesterday I did something I swore I'd never, ever do... I signed myself (and my husband) up for the Tower of Terror 10 miler run on October 4th. Along with the morning 5K- also on October 4th.

I decided to start a new Pre-Trip report for both my cruise & for this run trip & this is my shameless plug! I hope you come over and join my planning......

If Not By Sea Then By Run- June '14 Cruise & Oct '14 ToT 10 Miler PTR

Back to your regularly scheduled Trip Report. :)

oh exciting! Also IF I can swing it, that is the week (or start of the week) that I would go to WDW.... it's either that or Northern Europe, decision hasn't been made yet.

Hahaha, I have to laugh- you are like "it's that or Northern Europe" and I'd all be like- holy cow I'm going to EUROPE!!! The only Europe I'm going to will be EPCOT. Which is good too! I already have my eyeball on some food there!

LOL yeah I guess it comes off a little odd.... I've been hitting Europe up every year for the third year in a row....granted London, Paris and Rome are all between 4 and 5 hour flights from here...so travelling to Europe is actually the norm for here.

Part of life abroad. :)

Today is Friday. (Like in my Trip Report. Not in reality...unless you are indeed reading this on a Friday then I guess it is a Friday in reality..so I guess I'll just shut up now). Anyways... Today in Trip Report Land.. it is Friday. No dogs died yesterday in the pet sitting mishap. No flat tires happened. And most importantly, it was Magic Kingdom Day! My favorite park. (Everyone's favorite park, right?) It was gonna be a good day!

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Really. Because first I have to remind everyone I have that brand new PTR started for my brand new trip where I'm (gasp) running another race I swore I'd never run again. Yhea, I'm kinda dumb like that. I like to sign up for things and then spend 7 months cursing the day I signed up. Best part is I signed up the hubs...and so now he can curse me too every day for the next 7 months. That makes a happy marriage! Do or die.. 7 months from now.. we'll be running 10 miles - away from Villians and to my favorite ride..the Tower of Terror. Oooh..... so come join my rambling over there.... if you want.... I got my cruise stuff going on too!

Ok. So Friday morning we woke up. Similar to other days. Hubs slept through the early morning wake up (or fake slept through it)- so I got up.. and Charlie and I trekked the 4,000 miles for my diet coke fix. And back to wake everyone up.

Get up Now...now!! Today is Magic Kingdom Day!!! And I got everyone ready and shuffled out the door.

To the Magic Kingdom parking lot..where, once again, the monorail was down. Say what?! Come on. And so then we were hearded onto here instead...

My kids, having been on a real Disney Cruise, were less than thrilled with the 'short, no waterslide version' of this Disney Cruise. And because we had walked SOOOOOO far already- at the time of 8:45am they were whining they were tired. So they sat down and made their own fun. Without a waterslide. Or free ice-cream on the Lido deck....

When you want to pin trade and there are no cast members around, what do you do? Right, you convince little sister to give you all her good pins for your cr#ppy ones. It's a win-win for everyone involved. Except the little sister- but then, she doesn't care.. so whatevs....

What seemed like an eternity (and with no stop at Castaway Cay) we finally made it across Seven Sea Lagoon and into the lines that are park opening.

Through the gate..and in for a picture!

Aww. Cutie kids.

On our way in, this guy was creating some magic...but what?

So very, very cool. And so very talented.

This was the first time I'd seen this in the park. I'd heard about it, but never seen it.

We were so happy to be in our favorite park. There is excitement in every step...

Look, there it is Char.. right there, that's where mom's going to make us stop and take THAT PERFECT CASTLE PICTURE. You know, the one from the intro?!?! Well... yhea... or how about just a 'less-than-perfect-but ok Castle picture?'

And a close up...because everyone needs to see my family close up-

I especially like the back head of the person right next to me... makes this picture one to frame. Eeh...or not.

This little girl didn't care- she was just so darn happy to be here...

Seriously people, does it get ANY cuter? She's stinkin' adorable. One of my favorite pictures!

I had been texting SkierPete to meet up again so the girls could hang in the Kingdom. They were in Fantasyland so we headed that way.

With, another stop.. of course.. in front of the castle...

Almost cute.. if the girls would have been in focus. Drat.

Into the castle we went & stopping at our family tradition to see if one of these girls indeed might be the next Queen of England....

No such luck.

I will assume it was right around this time we met up with Pete and family because my next pictures have them in it... and us here:

at Winnie the Pooh... so I'll go with that since I can't remember exactly.

I really do like the new que. (I say que instead of line because I still hope someday to pull that sword and be Queen of England..and in England they say que..and not line).

Fun stuff.. lots of sound..

Somewhere this exists on video. For America's Got Talent. I know this because I spy with my little eye, Peter and his camcorder.

And soon enough we were on the ride...

And Char says....

She liked it.

After this ride- I think we tried to chase down Cinderella's stepmother and sisters...but I don't have any pictures of that.

At some point we headed towards Belle's castle & we gathered as a big group in the middle of the walkway...

It clearly looks like I'm directing something. I'm pretty sure it was a picture op considering where we were and the next pictures that showed up. I am such a bossy picture op director.

We stopped to pay tribute to the mighty Gaston......

No one's slick as Gaston
No one's quick as Gaston
No one's neck's as incredibly thick as Gaston's
For there's no man in town half as manly

Except these gals.....

Ha!

From there we moved towards Ariel's Castle...

Nothing says "Welcome to my land" than being a hood ornament on a boat. One might say she didn't quite make it out of the way in time?!?!

Becca's busy posin' while Sarah's looking up thinking, uh? What?

Everyone join in the picture....

Becca's still posin- not sure why. And Charlie's doing her "what?" look.

We had Fast Passes for this ride. And totally did not need them. It was pretty much a walk on at this point. Oh well.....

Illegal Clam Picture. With my head cut off. Yhea. That's a keeper. Thanks for taking that mom.

If you notice the book in my hand. That's my hidden Mickey book that I carried around my entire trip much to the dismay of my non-Disney loving husband who thought I looked like a dork stopping to find everything. To that I say... "Whatever". I wear my Dis-Freak flag proudly.

And it helped me find my second most favorite hidden Mickey - although this one took me FOREVER to find and it's not easy to 'see' in the pictures.

THis is full body Steamboat Willie Mickey with his hat...

Here you see his foot, his pants (with button holes), his hat, and kinda his head (but it's flat).

In this picture you can see his face more...

It's very, very cool. So take that stuffy hubby. (He wasn't even around while I found this- only my mom & Becca remained.. the rest went off to get food!).

And now I'm approx. 1 hour into my day. And I've reached my picture load... more fun for you- later........... on a different day. Don't want you to get too excited with too much of Nicole's DIS FUN in one sitting do we? Hahaha.. I know..whatever, Nicole.. whatever!!! Up next.. I have no idea. I have to go look at my pictures. Food. And maybe the Circusland? Yhea, It think that's it....

I love that "cruise" across the lagoon. The first time I went to Disney we rode that over and it's just a nice memory! No waterslide, but I still love it!

Love the water painting! We've never seen it either but it's so cool!

That line for Winnie the Pooh is so fun! We didn't get to play as much as I'd hoped because there was really no wait. As soon as people started passing us I freaked out and rushed the girls up the line. I don't know why I get so anxious about losing our place in the nonexistent line!

That is an AWESOME hidden Mickey!! I really want to get that book before our next trip. I love finding those!

I don't like the cruise when I'm in a rush because it seems to take so much longer - that's my biggest beef with it all. But then, there's no real 'easy' way to get into MK except by resort bus which is what I need to take next time....

I freak out like that too in line but it was so uncrowded at that time- it didn't bother me this go around. I was in my whatever, whatever mode.

That book is fun. I really did have in my hands most of the trip - finding them & checking them off. Some are really hard to find! Especially on moving rides!

I know I'll probably keep saying this, but it's so fun reading a TR that I show up in! :rotfl2:

Actually it's funny that there are things you mention that I forgot, and I'm sure vice versa as well. We actually met up right at the Sword in the Stone point. We then headed to Winnie the Pooh, met the Tremaines (as you said) and headed to New Fantasyland. I really like the picture your mom (I presume) took of us plotting out the picture at the fountian - in general I like candid pictures - as those are rarer to capture.

I was thinking when you used your FP+ for the Little Mermaid "Boy I think I would be changing that one for later in the day." but really it was a pretty slow day all around. (The rain didn't help - oops - SPOILER!)

I remember thinking to myself when you were wandering around looking for that hidden mickey: "Geez, she's got way more patience for this than I ever had." :crazy2: We've carried around that hidden Mickey book for a week and never pulled it out of the bag. If I can't find it PDQ I usually don't bother. It's a good thing I had put on my mellow-touring hat that day! :hyper:

Can't wait for more...but I know what's next!!!

I knew you would steer me in the right direction of what we actually did since my faulty brain can't remember!

What, you don't like the rare picture my mother captured of me sitting in a clam shell with my head cut out? She's usually not the BEST picture taker. :)

Yhea, I made a lot of dumb FP+ choices this trip. Live and learn.

Kurt was so annoyed with my book. So I took it out more often! :rotfl2:

I am very sad to see your "NO TRIPS PLANNED" added to your siggy. Boo.

I am very sad to see your "NO TRIPS PLANNED" added to your siggy. Boo.

I know - I haven't had that sign up since I joined the DIS in 2007 - I've ALWAYS had a trip being planned. It's just about KILLING me. :sad2::confused:

Though - it's not completely true. We are planning tentatively on going August 2015, but it's too nebulous and far away to count at the moment. We also have this fantasy about going for an adults only long weekend this September that we haven't given up on yet, but it is still more likely to NOT happen so I can't count it either. I'll know better whether its a possibility when I get around to doing the taxes.

Hey, I know a good weekend to go as adult only! Join us at the ToT of weekend - we are sans kids!

Thanks for reminding me I have to do my taxes too. I meant to get everything together for this weekend & that didn't happen.

Followed you over to here! I cant wait to catch up and read about your run experience...your family is precious!

Followed you over to here! I cant wait to catch up and read about your run experience...your family is precious!

Yhea! Thanks for joining... My one scrap page I did for Wine and Dine is posted a few pages back!!!

Thanks for the compliments on the fam!

So many cute pictures of the girls in this update!! They look so excited to be in MK!! Don't blame them :thumbsup2

Nicole-Finally Caught up…now to make you remember all that you have written in the last 12 pages (according to my phone DIS app)!

I so love this TR and find myself ROFL with each update! From the moment I started reading I felt this kindred spirit with you! I too find myself to bit very sarcastic and like to ramble a lot. I simply love your writing style!

The PERFECT CASTLE PICTURE…OMG I can’t tell you how many pictures I have taken trying to get the perfect one and what is worse how my pictures I have made my family endure (of course after I have controlled what everyone was wearing BEFORE taking the perfect castle picture). I think this is what scrapbookers do? ROFL. My family HATES when the camera comes out and the first thing out of my mouth (after they groan) is do it right the first picture and we are done…of course that never happens does it! So 100 pictures later they have a right to be grumpy and then I am grumpy at them for being grumpy, zapping the magic! I think I win Mother of the Year most nights…Disney obsession and scrapbooking usually take a 2nd seat to bedtime. UGH, I need to work on that! I too tend to be a type A planner and traveler, a mist a family of non type A people…causes for way too much drama and bad moods so I am working on being better about this! You know LET IT GO, my dd has been quoting that at me when I start being Type A. Nothing like a teenage reminding her mother…

Diet drink addiction, my drug of choice is Diet Dr. Pepper (another thing I am working on). Drives me crazy at Disney not to have my fix! And BTW I understand POP, never understood the soda part either. LOL when I moved to Texas it is no longer POP but COKE…everything is COKE (even when I am drinking my prized Diet DP). I so understand the migraine situation, and am sorry you had to deal with that your first day of your trip and I am feeling your PRERACE NERVES (they are not fun at all, hoping that more races I do that they will go away once I know that I can go the distance). I am simply amazed how you functioned so well with it and then worrying about the upcoming race! But at least you scored fireworks from you balcony. During our Christmas trip a few years ago we stayed at BW and our balcony gave us prime viewing for both Epcot and DHS New Year’s Eve fireworks. It was simply amazing!

I think the wine glass is a perfect reminder of the race! Good thing it was durable, but I probably would have found a way to break it! No I DID IT SHIRTS?! Ugh, I wanted one so bad for ToT but I was so afraid of jinxing myself and then when they had ones available I was like…I have my medal that was enough. Maybe for PHM I will get one…

OMG…I can’t believe that you were not on the first bus being a Type A planner. LOL, but then again I was on the first bus for ToT and then I got the joy of nerves in the corrals for like 3 hours instead. I think though I would be panicked if I had not been there 3 hours early! I love your costumes…so much fun to be doing the race with friends. Your smile really hides the pain and stress you are having! Nothing like a ½ staring you in the face, but yet you have a smile on! So glad you got to move up in corrals, it takes a lot of pressure off of you thinking about what could happen in the last corral. I think I cried in the corral a little bit too, emotions are a crazy thing when you are waiting! I so want to run Wine & Dine now that I know you run through 3 parks! I think running through the parks is the funniest part of the race. It makes the distance so much easier to handle! OMG, I about peed my pants laughing at your forgetting to lock the door of the pottie. I would have died if someone would have opened as I was trying to pull up my sweat soaked sparkle skirt…I was doing all kinds of moves trying to get that think pulled back up! UGH…YAY….headache gone at AK! So glad you stopped and took a picture with Captain Jack. I was so worried about finishing that I did not allow myself any course fun! What a great feeling to see the balloon ladies on the other side and realize how far you are ahead of them…major stress reliever! I love all the selfies during the run…I have got to learn how to do selfies! Running through Osborne lights…UGH I am so running Wine & Dine!

YOU DID IT! I think the crying shot is the best and I am crying right there with you because I understand that moment…what an incredible moment it is! Wine at the finish line…I seriously don’t think that I could have handled drinking even a sip at that moment. I am so sorry that you got sick afterwards, how you made it almost 24 hours with the headache and running…YOU ARE MY HERO!

I think I want a shirt like yours for after the race! Sums up my thoughts too, but here I am wanting to do it again. I think I need my head examined, why do we put ourselves through so much misery only to want to do it again…darn Disney! Good for you for wearing your medal…when you get home no one understands the urge to wear it proudly when you where it while cleaning the toilet!

Dessert before dinner is great, but dessert for dinner is better! I am thinking JellyRolls needs to be on my next trip…what a great way to end post race day!

Thank you for your honest opinions of the BC. I have always wanted to stay there…location and Stormalong Bay. It gives me more to think about!
I am so excited that you love the Dark Side! I love Disney but I also love my secret dates with Ron! I LOVE Royal Pacific Resort at Universal and the express pass can’t be beat! Forbidden Journey is my favorite ride of all times…my dd and I rode 4 times straight one morning! We would have ridden more if my darn ds#1 did not get sick! And frozen butterbeer…oh man I need my Ron fix right now! Trust me be thankful that you did not get on the Bilge Rat…ugh I can’t tell you how wet you get.

How nice that your dd was able to get Mickey Waffles. Love the Mickey Waffle photobomb picture! A picture can truly paint a moment! I am ROFL once again laughing on how to say Akerhaus…I always have to look up how to spell it!

I love the new interaction design part on TT. I am thinking next time that we tell the CM that we are all parties of 1 because I hate sharing my design with anyone else!

I know we have to be kindred spirits…I LOVE THE HAM APPLE SANDWICH in Norway…everyone else thinks I am bonkers. I even have started making them at home for myself! And that Viking Hat is so YUMMY! The picture of your mom and the picture frame is so cute!

OH MY…what a way to ruin a day, darn tire! So with you on changing the tire myself…25 Mickey Bars is not worth having someone else change my tire!

I LOVE YOUR WINE & DINE SCRAPBOOK PAGE! I so trying to convince myself to try more blocking type layouts. The glitter paper makes all your pictures POP! And of course I love the journaling, this type of event really needs the journaling, not like you are going to forget the 13.1 miles of torture yourself, but you need to let others feel the pain with you!

What a great DISmeet with SkierPete and family!

So excited for you to try another Run and maybe even another one a few months later (WINK WINK).

I love the Hidden Mickey book…I bought the App to try out this year but it was killing my battery and that killed my desire to cheat! Guessing I will drag the book around again next time! I am thinking I want to do a whole album in tribute to my searches!

Ok, I stared at that damn rock for 15 minutes and have no clue what the heck you are talking about! :rotfl: It's a rock. Yep, you may have to teach me the ropes on the hidden mickeys. I can see them when they are plain circles...I see them everywhere, actually, my family gets annoyed. That one had me stumped though!

Uh, bossy picture person? Hello to my sister from another mister! ;)

I'm off to find this pre-trip report for a race that you swore you weren't going to ever do again. :rotfl2:

See you at the GSC too! :lmao:

Nicole-Finally Caught up…now to make you remember all that you have written in the last 12 pages (according to my phone DIS app)!

You did amazingly good- I'm totally impressed! You remembered more than me & I wrote it! :)

I so love this TR and find myself ROFL with each update! From the moment I started reading I felt this kindred spirit with you! I too find myself to bit very sarcastic and like to ramble a lot. I simply love your writing style!

I am a bit of a smart-a$$. It goes over really well at school functions..and especially teacher conferences. Not. I'm ALWAYS happy to find kindred sacrastic spirits. We must stick together....

The PERFECT CASTLE PICTURE…OMG I can’t tell you how many pictures I have taken trying to get the perfect one and what is worse how my pictures I have made my family endure (of course after I have controlled what everyone was wearing BEFORE taking the perfect castle picture). But then again, we fund this shindig- so does it hurt them to smile a bit?! Type A's also must stick together . I'm starting a support club.. I'll call "Runners who don't really love running but do it anyways and are sarcastic and Type A". Yes?

Diet drink addiction, my drug of choice is Diet Dr. Pepper (another thing I am working on). Drives me crazy at Disney not to have my fix! I actaully have no idea how I functioned with that migraine either & made it to start line. Adreneline really does make people do amazing feats. I had worked HARD to get there & I wasn't giving in...

I will be buying an I Did It shirt at EACH race now & I will get there a day early to make sure they do not run out!

OMG…I can’t believe that you were not on the first bus being a Type A planner. Well, I was traveling with my cousin who arrived to the hotel about 7:00pm. So we had to wait for her. And I was still fighting that headache and so I just wasn't totally in it. I realized the GRAVE error when standing in that long line to board..and I won't repeat it for future races. I'll leave my nice 3 hour cushion. Yes, practice your selfies.. .they are the best way to do race-pics! :) Wine & Dine was really amazing with the 3 parks... helped the distance go by fast!

Garwsh..thanks! But I"m no more hero than anyone else who pushed through injuries to be there... which was many.... (I honestly don't know who people drank either after the race... they are made of better than me! I wish I could have....)

I think I want a shirt like yours for after the race! Sums up my thoughts too, but here I am wanting to do it again. Love that shirt! :) And agree- here we are.. doing it again? Why? Darn Disney coke they lace our drinks with....

Dessert before dinner is great, but dessert for dinner is better! I am thinking JellyRolls needs to be on my next trip…what a great way to end post race day!

Indeed it does- if I make it to PHM- I'll organize a meet up there..because it's AWESOME.

I am such a Harry Potter nerd. I absolutel LOVE (like mad crush) on Alan Rickman (Snape). FJ is probably my favorite ride of all time too- I couldn't agree more. It's just AMAZING. Combine that with a butterbeer and holding a wand (because what adult doesn't need their own wand?).. it's pretty much just awesome all around! I can not WAIT till the new land opens up. Hubby doesn't like it like me so I'm trying to figure out how to work it in the ToT trip?!?!

How nice that your dd was able to get Mickey Waffles. Love the Mickey Waffle photobomb picture! A picture can truly paint a moment! I am ROFL once again laughing on how to say Akerhaus…I always have to look up how to spell it!

Sooooo good. I want one now.

Blocking is my favorite. It's easist for me- thats why. Plus I tend to add a LOT of pictures on each page & blocking gets them on the best.

What a great DISmeet with SkierPete and family!

It was great fun. And the girls got along great. Made for some extra DisMagic!

So excited for you to try another Run and maybe even another one a few months later (WINK WINK).

Yhea, I've moved up to about the 95% cateogry of doing PHM. I can't help it- I'm addicted. And if I can find running friends to share my misery/fun... then I gotta make it work. Now, how to tell the hubby?!?!

I love the Hidden Mickey book…I bought the App to try out this year but it was killing my battery and that killed my desire to cheat! Guessing I will drag the book around again next time! I am thinking I want to do a whole album in tribute to my searches!

I had so much darn fun with that book. I actually did not know there was an APP. I can't believe that I didn't know that. Shame on me as Dis Freak!

Thanks for joining over & piping up on my report. I had fun answering this post! And I'm so happy you introduced me to the term "cupcake runner" because I'm totally calling myself one now!

:lmao:

Come on Karen!!!! You have an artistic eye, you have to see it. We'll have to work on that. I'll whip you in shape on the world of Hidden Mickey's!!

GSC 2015. I've moved up to 95% in... 5% more convincing............ ;)

I've basically got my husband convinced to let me do a weekend in Disney for GSC 2015. That should be the last 5%, right? :thumbsup2

(Anyone wanna split a hotel room? :rotfl: )
