new Toy Story Mania game & T.S. 3 character

This is the most awesome news I have heard, I was going to take a short trip to WDW in May just to meet Lotso, the Toy Story's are my favorite movies, however had to cancel that short trip due to surgery I have to have at the end of May. So this is so cool, does anyone know how long they will keep this up at DLR??? I would hope for awhile since the Toy Story films are so big, but if anyone could guess that would be great. Thank you so much.:goodvibes

Just thought I would give this a little bump and see if any of you Disneyland experts might be able to help me out. Thank You.:goodvibes

The way I read this and other information is that this will be a change for awhile. I guess they designed this ride to be able to do this, switch out a new game for another. I can't imagine them taking it away before they switch any of the other original games first. So, no need to rush over in May, or June when I will be going. :goodvibes If I could wait to see this I would wait until September, actually when hopefully the Summer crowds will be gone. At least that is my opinion with what I had read.

Good Luck with the surgery. :wizard:

Eventually they will also do a Halloween thing and a Christmas thing - what those "things" entail, I am not sure, but apparently Mr. Potato Head is already programmed to sing Christmas songs and a Halloween overlay of some kind is in the works as well. They just have to change the Potato voice track, I guess. So maybe, when they finally do Halloween and Christmas overlays, it will simply consist of changing up the Potato chatter according to the holiday and changing one or two of the games inside the ride to 'spooky' or 'merry' challenges involving ghosts, goblins, witches, reindeer, Santa and snowmen, etc. I don't know if they would choose to do that this year, with all the buzz surrounding World of Color and the nighttime closure of the Paradise Pier area (they want people to focus on WoC at night for right now), but eventually we will see Halloween and Christmas touches to TSMM!!:santa:

Does Don Rickels do the voice for Mr. Potato Head at Toy Story Mania? If so, they better hurry up and get more tracks recorded before.....

:scared1: Yes, I think it is Don's voice for the TSMM version of Mr. Potato Head in both DCA and DHS in Orlando. I could be wrong on that, but it seems like I recall reading it somewhere a while back. Maybe they figured they had better get as many voice tracks recorded early on as possible before... Well, in any case, apparently the Halloween and Christmas overlays were part of the plan all along, so they may have just had Don sit down and record all of it in a couple of days, before TSMM ever opened, singing Christmas carols and whatever else he had to do so they won't have to worry about getting a different voice if something happens to him.

Thank you so much. I figured the overlays for the ride would still be around, I think I was more concerned about meeting Lotso, the display they are planning at DLR for his meeting spot sounds like it will be very neat and hoping it is still around in Dec. Thank You.:goodvibes

jnjusoioa, I'd be somewhat surprised if Lotso stopped doing meet and greets before the end of summer. I wouldn't bet on him being doing meet and greets in December, though, unless it's to promote the DVD...

That said, the fact that they'll have him out for greets at ALL (unlike a lot of characters that WDW got but DL never did) shows at least the POTENTIAL that they'll keep him long-term like Woody, Jessie, and Buzz.

Thank you so much for the reply, I am thinking also that Lotso would be long term, like you said, since they are getting him at all and I know DLR doesn't get as many characters as WDW, I just hope they have the whole little area set up for awhile, it looks like it will be neat. He is also going to be in the Pixar Play Parade, so that is a good thing too. Hoping for the best come December, can't wait to see him. :goodvibes
