Hi everyone,
I am new to the boards. I have a vacation planned for WDW may 17th thru the 21st. My mother is going with me and I'm taking my 8 year old and my 3 year old. My 3 year old will actually celebrate her birthday there :) We are so excited. Nobody has been to WDW before.I booked a MYW plus dining, with park hopping option. We'll be staying at AllStar Movies in a preferred room. Total was 2300. I **think** it was a good deal.I'm going to enjoy reading all the tips and tricks here to make the most out of the vacation :)

 Welcome to the DIS. My tip---Make sure you get a birthday button from guest services in the park for your birthday girl. I believe the cm's will pay special attention to her and help make her day magical.

Welcome. Sounds like you made some great choices! My tip: Relax, have fun! I do suggest that you read some of the tips and ideas here, but don't go crazy tring to plan every detail and moment of your trip. Let WDW happen to you.

Some things that are important to understand:

making dining reservations I suggest no more than one per day

fastpass - know how this works and how to use it

Extra Magic Hours or emh - read about what this is, and try to get a sense of how this affects crowd levels. Since you're getting hopper passes, you may want to take full advantage of emh. I suggest that you use your hopper feature to hop into the emh park for the emh, but consider hopping to a different park for the bulk of the day. During morning emh - the crowds don't peak until 11am, so you can easily stay through lunch in the emh park, but then go elsewhere. When it comes to evening emh, it makes sense to go to a different park during the day; entering the emh park sometime after 4:30pm.
Some folks avoid the emh park altogether if they don't plan on being in the park that early or late.

Hi everyone! (And thanks so much to Pete for letting me invite you all in on my new "dream job!")

If you are new to the DIS, you will love this place! This is the best Disney Online Community to have ANY WDW questions answered! There literally is someone out there who knows everything related to WDW! It's incredible!

Anyhow, if you are in love with the DIS like most of us are, I would really like to invite you to give our new podcast a shot. We just started it last month, and our podcast focuses on audio trip-reports and planning advice. We talk about planning, resort stays, restaurant reviews, park experiences, and much more!

What's even better is that we have a new guest each week joining us discussing their most recent trip to WDW! It's great to hear what others enjoyed and advice they have to make their next trip to WDW that much more magical!

Give us a try! I think all DISers will LOVE it!

Thanks,
Mike

Welcome! :hippie: You mentioned this is a first trip for your group - you can also get "first visit" buttons from guest services - cool souvenirs!

Make sure to ask lots of questions and know that the search function can be sketchy. Tons of friendly, helpful people here!

Hi,

I'm new also and basically have done a LOT of reading so far, not much posting yet... TONS of info here! and fun stuff to read too!!

We've been once before (11/2003) and are heading back this June with our oldest son's high school band! Exciting stuff to be sure!! I've been trying to see if any others have gone with school bands before, or are planning a trip, but haven't seen any so far... :confused3

Anyway, you will be glad you found this site - it's awesome! :yay:

Did you start a thread about school band visits? I'm sure a lot of people on the DIS would have been involved in that.
