Well, I took the plunge and aquired a class A DP. So, its off to FW in the latter part of May. I called yesterday, and was able to make reservations for 5 days on a Premium site. I told them I needed full hookups ( water, 50a, sewer, and Cabletv). She gave me a reservation number. I thought I would have a problem getting a slot this late in the ball game, but it apparently was not an issue.

A couple of questions for you guys/ gals:

1. How long does it take on average to get to the MK from FW on the boat?

2. Since we are only going to be there for 4 days, do we really need to get a golf cart, or can we utilize the shuttles and trams to get around FW?

3. The only thing I can find on adult beverages is that they are not allowed in the parks. Can we have them at the campsite/ motorhome? I hope so!!!

Thanks in advance!

Brad

First of all let me be one of the first to say WELCOM and enjoy it's about a 20 minute ride to the MK but depending on the time of day you go the wait can be up to 20-30 minutes to wait for a boat average is about 15 minutes. Next golf carts no you do not need a cart it makes for easyer getting around and so forth there is plenty of shuttles to get you where you need to go. If you like to bike ride take your bike as the trails are all paved and it's a great way to get around (thats what we do) and it's cheaper too! And yes you can have beverages (adult kind) at your site just dont over indulge and you will be fine. And as Frank say's Bring a fishin pole that aint bad ether! Good luck on the trip and don"t forget the report when you get back K:thumbsup2

First let me say WELCOME to the boards !
Second congrats on your new camper :thumbsup2
And third, I believe your gonna love the Fort.

Questions /Answers

1. WE always allow at least one hour (minimum) when we use Disney transportion.

2. Yes, you can utilize the shuttles and trams to get around FW.
If you plan on doing the parks for the entire stay, then I wouldnt rent a cart.
However, if you plan onna free day at the Fort, then I would rent a cart just for the day,,lots of fun, lets you get around to see the Fort and all it has to offer.

3. Will there be any adults in your party? (in Disney years I'm only 7 )
Yes, adult beverages are allowed at your site, but for the sake of the kiddies, I would suggest that if you want to take a evening stroll from your site to put your drink inna red plastic cup, it looks better than to carry a beer bottle around.

And for the record, the official Fort beverage is Kungaloosh.

Hava GREAT time at the Fort, :wizard:

BRING A FISH'N POLE !

Kungaloosh:

1/4 cup Capt Morgan's Spiced Rum
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup Raspberry Brandy or Liquer
1/4 cup Strawberry Daiquiri mix

put in blender with enough ice to make slushy.

Everytime I see this recipe it makes me think of a bad hangover and how I wanted to drive to PA to give a piece of my mind to Jim. Kungaloosh is good but it gives a nasty headache if you drink too much.

I never drink at FW, so I don't know if booze is allowed or not.

You are going to have the best time. You can buy adult beverages in Epcot, Disney Studios and Animal Kingdom but not the Magic Kingdom. There is also a bar at the Trails End. My Husbsand likes that one because they have a walk up window. This board has a lot of infotake a look at past threads. I have learned so much here.

So as long as you stay away from MK you can keep that buzz going all day, :rotfl2:

I think there may be a couple of places where you can buy beer in World Showcase.

:banana:Welcome. You will love it. We have been coming since 08 when we got our first RV (Class C) and we made the mistake of it being our first camping trip. Ruined us for anything else. We live close enough that we come several times a year, even if we can only get in for a weekend. No place better and the people you meet are the greatest. You will learn a lot here. We sure have and continue to enjoy the humor.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. As far as the drinking goes, I am not a very big beer drinker, more of a liquor guy. You would never know I have been drinking, as I dont drink to excess, and I never carry around a bottle, just a nice stainless steel drinking cup, so no one knows what is in it. Since this is a family park, and I will have my youngin and other small kids around us, I would not advertise that I was drinking. But since this is my vacation as well..... it would be wonderful after a long day at the park to relax with a drink or two. The reason why I asked is because I did not want to be breaking the rules the very first time I visit.

Kungaloosh sounds very good!! I will have to give it a try! This will be the second outing in the "new to us" coach, the frist was the Petit LeMans race at Road Atlanta last September. Rained so hard, but still had a good time.

I have read about WDW ripping out some of the vegetation and kind of wrecking the privacy in the process. Some have said that most of it was dead anyways because of the drought. Can anyone give me a loop number that still has good coverage and privacy, but would still be close (walking distance) to a pool or other activities? DW has an extremely bad back. I am almost thinking about renting her a motorized wheelchair people mover thingamagiggy, as it would be hard for her to be on her feet all day.

OH, one more thing, DW and I are coming up on 11 years of marriage. I really did not propose to her the proper way the first time. I was thinking about doing it in front of Cinderellas Castle. Do any of you know of a good spot to do it? I would have other family members there to video the event...

Thanks again,

Brad

Congratulations!! You need to be a little bit careful about making a big "to do" in front of the castle. For reasons I don't understand, Disney gets all weirded out about stuff like that and sometimes puts the kibosh on it if it's too big of a distraction (i.e., lots of people gathering around attracting attention). If you do it fairly low key, shouldn't be a problem.

There's also a lovely little spot with a wishing well to the right of the castle that's out of the way a bit, but still close enough to the castle to be a lovely photo spot. Look for the walkway from the Tomorrowland side heading up towards the side of the castle. There's a nice little bench there too.

That walkway is an awesome spot! Yea, I kind of figured that we shouldn't made a big production out of it. Heck, we already have had the wedding, so this is just something that did not get done the first time. I always here about it ( that she never was properly proposed to) during the most inopportune times! We only have a party of 5, which includes a 4.5 year old, and our 14 motnh old son, so it wont be tons of people. Thanks for posting the pictures... gives me a great visualization...

I think it's a super sweet thing to do, and if there are only 5 of you, you shouldn't have a problem at all.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip! :flower3:

For site privacy...they ripped out a vine that was taking over everywhere. It's a federal pest thing. They are doing a pretty good job of replacing with other foliage, but nothing like the privacy there used to be. And some of the new stuff has to grow up to help.

Although your neighbors will be more visable, I haven't noticed any real intrusion on our sites during our visits. Except we had to move our motorhome and attached screen room at Christmas for a few hours while they cut down a dying pine tree behind our site. We got two nights free, so we didn't complain, and the arbor crew helped us take down and re-set up.

You can access the Google view of the Fort from the sticky at the top of this forum and open individual loop drive-throughs to get some idea of what the place looks like.

That's an awesome idea and something I am planning to do next year myself (I didn't get to propose the "proper way" either.

I hadn't thought of doing it at Disney, but as much a part of our lives as it has become, I think that it would be as magical as anywhere else. Good luck, I hope she says YES! :rotfl2::thumbsup2
