I'm new to this whole concept of renting and trading points. Having a hard time figuring out what "bump" means. I have seen this many times on threads created by point holders wanting to rent their points. Is this part of the bidding process? If someone could explain it, I would be really grateful.

Thank you!!

:)

Bump just moves the post up to the top where most people read first. It a short way of posting without saying anything at all. Just moves the thread up.

If a member wants to rent out their points, they want to be the top thread on page one, so someone will contact them first before they get to the people on page 2 or page 10.

That makes sense...I often wondered how ppl get their post on the front page with little activity. Guess that answers both questions.

Thank you for your time!

In addition to getting the thread back to the top of page 1 where it is more likely to get noticed, it is also required by the Rent/Trade board posting rules. We require thread owners to keep their thread active by posting to it at least once every 7 days. The thread owner is usually posting replies to other users who have posted questions on the thread but if there is no other activity on the thread, they will post just the word "bump" or maybe a smiley. If they don't do so at least once every 7 days, their thread gets locked.

I learn something new here every time I visit. I had no idea that's why people "bumped"!
