New to all this, need some info please.

So, DH & I had looked into Saratoga Springs when it started, and decided against it. Yesterday though, we went to Woodfield mall, to the Doorway of dreams and saw the Animal Kingdom rooms and they look awesome! So it got us interested again. But, then we kindof want to wait til Contemporary opens up. So, I called and they're sending me the DVC info package about AK, but here's my question. For existing members if you want to change home resorts when a new one is opened, do you have first chance at doing that? I mean, we could either wait til CR is open, or what we were wondering is, if we purchase AK, would we then easily be able to just change to CR, or would we need to sell AK, etc? Anyone know how this works? Thanks!

You can buy more points at CR when and if it opens as DVC resort. It's really your choice if you want to buy AKV now and sell your points for CR. Now if you really want only CR, then wait until it open for sale to the public (hasn't been announced yet). Selling AKV contract will lose you money (10-12% commission to start with) if you choose to do that.

Like AKV, CR will probably be first available to purchase by existing DVC members, so if you buy small resale contract to get your foot in the door, that would work. But the incentives right now are great (I think tomorrow is last day for incentives) so it's probably worth buying directly through disney. we have a great guide. I just did add-on at BWV and he got me the points within 2 days.

Once you purchase DVC you cannot just change it to another home resort. You would need to sell and then buy at your new choice. Otherwise, you can retain your original ownership and add on at another resort.
