New Ticket Upgrade Policy?

Allears is slow to update some things, however this Ticket Upgrade notice references the Feb 23, 2014 price increase. Also, their posted current ticket prices are accurate. And they are somehow aligned with MapleLeafTickets.com, same as Mousesavers is aligned with UCT. I wonder if allears' info was from MapleLeaf ?!?!

Except, I'm not seeing anywhere on Maple Leaf's site where they are reporting this new policy. If it's there, it's at least semi hidden.

I am a Guest Relations Cast Member. I do not think this is correct information. Something like this would have been directly communicated to me. And there has been no notice of this change at all. I am unsure where this site gets information from but I believe they have been misinformed.

Thanks for posting! I sure hope you're right. But, I can't help but wonder where Allears got this information from.

If true - it basically puts authorized resellers out if business. Hard to believe they would do that. I mean basically kills buying tickets from AAA even. Also a nightmare for tickets printed before policy change. Seems too big a change to have only one place reporting this.

I agree. I looked and didn't find anything on their site or on UCT's site. Wonder if it was a preliminary notice to MLT of something coming down the pike. Anyways, wouldn't their ticket stock would have to change, to mark the tickets as non-upgradable as compared to Disney's MYW tickets? Maybe allears jumped the gun.

Well I know his full name and a google search did not return any obits or police reports.

That's always a good sign.

Thanks so much! In that case, I will just hope he's having a fabulous break/vacation and that we will enjoy his wisdom again soon. :goodvibes

Hope this isn't the case. It seems like it would prevent anyone from staying or adding any extra time there at the last minute. We got our tickets on base. We thought we may be able to add on a day at the parks if we want once we get there. If we cannot add on a day, we will not be going there the extra day, spending money on food or anything else. We will just go elsewhere that day. I would still not have purchased the tickets from Disney had we not been able to add on, as the difference in price for us isn't worth the possibility of more time there. We still would just go elsewhere for the day if we couldn't add at the last minute. Will have to see what happens.

A few years ago when we stayed at Coronado Springs my little girl was about 5. We had a long day at Magic Kingdom and were standing in line waiting on our bus. Buses were going by to it seemed like every other resort. One bus pulled up and hadn't changed its sign yet. It finally changed, and it was Animal Kingdom Lodge. So I was trying to be funny by being all dramatic and saying who jinxed us??? Whose fault is this? My little girl just about in tears cried it was me Mommy! I had fingers on both hands crossed that it was our bus!

Well if this is true, I feel like I have jinxed us! I have always just bought a package through disney - paid full price for my tickets. So this year I thought I would be smart. So I bought 5 day tickets with the whole orbitz/ebates deal. Bought em last Saturday night, and it was the first time I used ebates. My cash back still has a big fat zero. I bought five day tickets thinking we could add days once we used them once. So sorry guys! I jinxed us! I was crossing fingers on both hands that it all worked out, and well it just hasn't. :)

I feel some extra pool time coming on in June.......

Sure glad you came across this. People definitely need to know but I sure hope this is a mistake!!! I just purchased 2/ 5 day base tickets from UT with the thought that I may be upgrading them when we arrive in August. Now I'm not sure what to do:sad2:

I just purchased 2 five day hoppers from UCT today and plan to upgrade to 7 day when we get there. If this is true I want to know before my order ships so we can just get the 7 days now

From what I've read other places it's just the price bridging that's being discontinued, not the adding of days or options in and of itself. This brings WDW in line with DLR's policies.

Except that bit from All Ears doesn't even mention price bridging, unless I missed it!

Which other places?

I hope some answers to this come soon. For our several trips to WDW I either booked a package with tickets, or used the military discount and bought the discounted tickets when we arrived. My husband is retired now, and we do not live near a base with a MWR so I can't buy them in advance. With the new system of reserving things in advance I figured I'd buy our tickets this time through Undercover tourist since it gets such awesome reviews here. I was planning on waiting a bit as our trip isn't until June. When they announced the increase I went ahead and ordered them using the mousesaver discount and they did not reflect an increase. The best discount on the hopper and water park tickets were the 4 day, so I bought those knowing I can add 3 days when I get there. Doing that made my tickets nearly $70 less. Now if this is true I just negating any savings. At least I have plenty of time to know if I need to return these tickets and exchange them for the days I actually want.

regards

So, wonder what value will they give toward the upgrade? What the wholesaler paid WDW?

If price bridging is discontinued, it again begs the question, "Why would anyone buy tickets outside of Disney?"

The reason so many people buy those tickets is to net a small deal on the excessive cost, and ultimately if they upgrade those tickets to an extra day or an AP, they save a bit versus gate price. That extra money usually ends up as park merch, food, you name it.

I'm starting to question the validity of this whole hoopla. :scratchin

Didn't I just get my email from UT saying my tickets were shipped. Hope this isn't accurate.

I would bet most people buying tickets from wholesalers have no idea what price bridging is. They buy them for the days they need them.

We have enough passes for two trips. I'd planned to upgrade by adding the PH option once there if we thought we'd use it. Getting rid of price bridging (assuming it's true), would just mean we don't upgrade. And if they don't allow upgrading at all, so be it. That's a few hundred dollars disney won't get from us.

As an aside, I noticed in my MDE account where I'd linked my tickets, it says they expire in 2030. These are just regular park passes - not non-expiring passes. But it was always my understanding they were good until first use and that's when the 14-day clock started ticking. We'll definitely use them before 2030. But that expiration is new to me.

ETA: I'm not seeing it in MDE now. I swear it was there before.
