New Ticket Upgrade Policy?

Tickets – Frequently Asked Questions
Q.
Can Magic Your Way tickets be upgraded after they are purchased?
A.
Yes. If it is within 14 days of a Magic Your Way theme park ticket’s first use and the ticket has remaining admissions, you are able to upgrade the ticket. If it is more than 14 days after first use or if no admissions remain, then a ticket may not be modified or upgraded.

Upgrades may include adding more days or adding any combination of options, including:

Park Hopper Option
Water Park Fun & More Option
No Expiration Option
Ticket upgrades must be made in person at any of the following locations at Walt Disney World Resort:

Ticket windows at theme parks and water parks
Concierge desks at Disney Resort hotels
Guest Relations at the Downtown Disney Area

I've been searching around the 'net and All Ears is the only one reporting this. Not sure about it. Emailed Disney. Too bad Cheshire and I pretty much disappeared at the same time.

Cheshire hasn't been around in a long time to update. Hope everything's ok with him.

I hope he's okay. I really do.

As far as the change in policy whereas tickets not purchased directly from Disney no longer being able to add days or features. Total bummer. I wish they would at least "grandfather in" tickets already purchased/printed.

Disney sure is changing.

Do you know if he's okay (not trying ask for personal info, just want to know he's okay)?

I just had to get away from the computer when I read the allears.net info. I didn't look further. If you could cut and paste other passages regarding this new upgrading change, I think people on this board would be very interested.

Sure glad you came across this. People definitely need to know but I sure hope this is a mistake!!!

I just purchased 2/ 5 day base tickets from UT with the thought that I may be upgrading them when we arrive in August. Now I'm not sure what to do:sad2:

My loyalty site, Air Miles, actually states this:

Once at Walt Disney World, collectors can add on the Park Hopper Option which allows you to go from one Theme Park to another on the same day, or the Water Park Fun & More Option which allows you admission to other attractions like Water Parks, Downtown Disney , Pleasure Island and more. You can also add on the No Expiration option so that your ticket never expires.

I find it hard to believe Disney is changing things.

;)

I find it hard to believe too. I just purchased a few tickets from UT last Sunday. I decided to give them a call to see if they are aware of this change but unfortunately, they are not in until Monday. I left a message. If I find out anything more, I'll post it.

I am a Guest Relations Cast Member. I do not think this is correct information. Something like this would have been directly communicated to me. And there has been no notice of this change at all. I am unsure where this site gets information from but I believe they have been misinformed.

Just said, "Thank you Jesus!" because one week ago, after I read about the ticket increases, I sat in front of my computer trying to decide which tickets to buy for my daughters for our upcoming visits (DH and I have AP's). Because of the way they were priced on Undercover Tourist, the 6 day MYW PH WPFand More No expiration tickets had more of a discount than the 10 day PH No expiration tickets, which is what we really wanted. I ALMOST ordered the 6 day tickets, planning to have my daughters enter a park once, then go to guest services and have the ticket bridged, then upgraded to the 10 day tickets that we wanted. After the price increase my old calculations were all off, and I kept mixing myself up, so it was taking me a while to make my decision. At the last minute I said, "Wait a minute, how much is the ticket I actually want to end up with, if I buy it right now from UT, and do not have to worry about bridging and upgrading?" I found that it was only $25 more. I said to DH, "I'm thinking that it would be worth it in terms of not having to worry about going to guest services, and not having to worry about standing in any lines in order to do so. I really feel like all of that is worth just paying the "extra" $25 right now." DH agreed and I ordered the 10 day tickets. Jump forward to tonight where I just read right here that Disney has changed their policy on upgrading tickets. I am so happy that I decided to just get the ticket that I wanted to end up with. Don't get me wrong. I really hope that everyone else is able to get their tickets upgraded to whatever they thought they could when they bought them!

Thank you!

As I stated, All Ears was *the only* place reporting this, and I checked at least 50 places that has decent, reliable info (although I'd consider All Ears to be reliable). This confirms my thoughts that something is off (possibly) with All Ears. But, they might just be ahead of the curve. And the funny thing is, I think lately All Ears has been a bit lacking of updates.

What I don't understand is why allears is the only one reporting this? It also makes no sense to me. The ticket brokers tickets have to come from somewhere right? Isn't it in Disney's best interest to get people in the door for as many days as they can. I'll spend a heck of a lot more on food and trinkets the more I am in the park. It goes against their multi day ticket pricing strategies. Why penalize for ADDING days?!? I can see not bridging the price difference, but to completely disallow adding days or options?! Makes no sense whatsoever.

Pleasure Island has not been open for several years. That statement is really outdated. I wouldn't put much credence in it.

However, I find it interesting that Disney would turn away a guest's money. If I bought 5-day tickets from another source (like Undercovertourist) and then decided to add another day in Orlando, I'm much less likely to spend an additional $100 to add another day in Disney if I can go over to Universal and see HP for the same price. But I'm more likely to stay at Disney, eating in their restaurants and shopping in their stores, if I only have to spend another $12 or so for another day.

You are so right. I think sometimes you have to buy your time back (that's what I tell DH when he wants to do all the house repairs alone). Sometimes it's worth it to pay a little more to save time. Soooo glad it worked out for you! Someone led you in the right direction:littleangel:

.....

Point is, they obviously have not been informed differently.

I can see them stop the bridging, but it makes no sense to not want people spend more time in their parks.
