New Thread - What have you seen on the EA?

G6 :earseek: Wondering how big is the trunk? Or the trunk opening? I used to have an grand prix is it comparable? I know the Grand prix had a funny opening that the window came kinda low, so that suitcases would have a weird angle and could not be very huge. Please explain your G6 experiences please, seems like lots of people are getting g6's and vibes.

Okay, here's a weird question for all you EA experts. First, some background. I'm renting a car from the EA on September 30, which just happens to be about a month before my own car is paid off and I can start shopping for a new one. I see that there are a lot of G6s and Vibes available lately. The G6 is the car I have been drooling over since I first saw it in the Pontiac owners magazine last year. The Vibe is the car I will most likely buy.

So, if given the choice, what would you do in my position? A) Rent the Vibe and treat it as a week-long test drive. Or B) Take advantage of this one chance to pretend I own a G6. For the most part, I will be the only person in the car, but I may have passengers throughout the week.

Thank you for your indulgence.

Just an FYI, our next-door neighbor just went in due to the constant advertisng about the GM employee pricing and got a nice G6 (not the GT but really nicely equipped) for less than $18K. Not sure what the Vibes are going for but it seemed like a good deal with that going on right now.

I would drive the car that you wouldn't normally drive at home, that's what we do at least.

Just an FYI- My mom just purchased a Toyota Matrix. Exactly the same car as the Vibe, but cheaper. Not sure how you feel about Toyota, but it really was the better deal.

Oh yeah- Everyone in my family loves the Vibe/Matrix. When we are on vacation, we like to drive something, we don't at home. I would get the G6.

When I was thinking of a new car about 3 years ago, I had my eye on a Toyota Camry. It took me 3 trips, but I was finally able to get one at National. By then I was ready to buy. It was great to have a week long test drive to be sure. I bought one about a month later. Good luck on your decision.

I thought the Vibe was a Pontiac. They made them the same?

My 2 cars before my Toyota were Pontiacs (Grand Prix and Grand Am). I am far more satisfied with my Toyota.

My Dad's a GM retiree, so I always buy a GM car. I'm also kind of a Pontiac nut. I have a Grand Am GT now. I love my car (and its engine!) but I'm looking for something less expensive because I'll be switching careers while I'm still making payments, and the new job will pay far less than the current job.

BTW, the Vibe is made by Toyota in a U.S. plant, but sold under the Pontiac label. The trim levels are slightly different, but they're essentially the same car.

I'm currently trying to picture myself driving one car or the other between hotels to decide. It isn't helping.

I thought the G6 had plenty of trunk room. Of course, just two of us, but we travel with a lot of baggage with empty space so we can fill it up on the way home. We got two big suitcases and one carryon in the trunk and then put the laptop and camera bag in the back seat.

We had five of us in the car going to dinner one night, all adults, no problems with the back seat space either.

I loved that G6, especially the remote start. That is the finest thing for hot Fl when you can get that air going quickly.

Does anyone work for a company who uses National for corporate travel? I was on the corporate travel planner system today and there was a message to apply for a EC card and then e-mail a person at National to be upgraded to Executive Select! I sent my EC # but didn't get a response before I left work today. My company has Avis as our primary rental car company and National as secondary. National is usually a couple dollars more a day, I guess they are using this to encourage people to pick National. I haven't been happy with Avis, they usually give me a crappy Chevy Classic.

I don't work for any company that uses National, I have ES, because of all my rentals. But I would get in touch with National and tell them about the e-mail you received, this is such a great opportunity, because you have another aisle to choose from and I believe you will be given any last minute rentals you might need.

As far as G6 room in general goes, we got back just yesterday, it held

4 adults
2 Full Size Check Bags
4 Carry On Bags

with no problem

By the Way on June 18 EA Had:

15 G6's (5 or so had Leather, Sunroof, Chrome Wheels)
4 Chrysler Sebring 2 dr coupe's
3 Vibes
1 Chevrolet "Classic"

We choose a Silver G6 with 1,800 miles.

Hi everyone. I just returned from MCO today. I did not see the EA on the way back in to the airport, but the selection when we arrived is below.
Arrived Wednesday, 6/14 @ 12 noon, B Side. The EA had 4 vehicles. 3 Minivans and 1 Vibe. We grabbed a Pontiac Montana minivan and loved it. It had a power sliding door and a DVD entertainment system. Great for the ride to Daytona Beach!

My brother arrived July 4 and did see one minivan; not sure what else was there or what he took... I'm hoping for that minivan on the 12th!!

We just returned from FL on Sun (7/3). When we arrived on Friday June 24th at about 10:45 am there were no minivans in EA. I opted for Emerald Reserve- full size, when I made my reservation. We chose a Buick Century. We had 2 adults and 3 teenagers. We had 4 checked bags - 2 large, 1 medium and 1 small which fit in the trunk perfectly. Our carry-ons we put in the car. I was afraid to reserve EA and not end up with a vehicle that would hold the 5 of us and our luggage. We had a 2 hour drive after leaving Orlando to head to Port St. Lucie for a few days to visit my sister. The trunk and car space was good. My BIL arrived in arrived in Orlando the day before us, June 23 at about 2 PM and they said there were 4 minivans to pick from, they chose a Monte Carlo. They are only a family of 4. So I guess you never know what will be there Monte Carlo's and the new Malibu were our other choices in the full size aisle, neither of which worked for us. My husband has an older Malibu which has a very big trunk that would have fit all our luggage but the new ones seem to have a much smaller trunk. We could only get our 2 big suitcases in it. Hope that helps someone.
