New Thread - What have you seen on the EA?

Great report! Lucky you. We actually have a convertible rented at present, got a pretty good rate too, hit it at only 50.00 higher than my EA price was. So we decided to go for it. (they must of had a bunch of extra's lately). Anyway, wondering if you could tell me about the sebring, and the trunk? Did you get to use the convertible much? Or too hot? How did it drive.
Would you rent one again?

Thanks for your help, and report! Mky princess:

So what did you get?

Keep in mind that Emerald Aisle will only guarantee an intermediate. If you get a full size, you got an upgrade. SUVs or minivans are rare.

Can you believe, I don't even know?? Just a 4 door tan something or other. My mom drove it. It may have been a full size...

Sorry, I'm not much help.
My brother had aarived on the 4th and there was a minivan there, but he didn't take it:confused3

We arrived on Friday the 22nd around 6:00 p.m. and every spot on the EA had a car in it, either a G6, impala or malibu, there was also a blue Trailblazer and a white Jeep. We took a G6 with the remote start. When we pulled out, I noticed that on the other side of that huge column that divides the aisle, there were 5 or 6 convertibles.

When we left on the 28th at 10:00 A.m., I noticed that all spces were full, but I couldn't tell you what was in them.

You do have to compromise on trunk space with the Sebring. We had one large suitcase, two smaller ones plus a carryon. One of the suitcases had to ride in back with DD. Only an issue on departure/arrival though. I thought it handled pretty well. You are right that it is very hot driving with the top down in the daytime. The only time we did that was when we visited Daytona and drove on the beach. Otherwise we limited our driving with the top down to evenings. We stayed offsite (Vistana) and it was great coming back from the parks/BW/DTD. I would seriously think about going with one again in the future, especially if it cost only a little more as in your case.

IMHO, I don't care what I get on EA. I am just so thrilled to be going back again so soon ( two trips in 12 months) !!! And very happy :cool1: about my EA rate $229 inc. taxes/fees for 15 days over Christmas and New Years!

We picked up a minivan on 7/25 at EA and were thrilled! I asked the attendant a question at the booth by the elevators, and she said that minivans were never put on the EA, and it must have been a mistake. But there it was. I quickly checked out with no problems. From reading these boards, I knew it was possible.

I should've rented a minivan to begin with but the rate was over $400, and the National intermediate rate only $210. I didn't dare to hope it would work out so well and planned to be happy with whatever car I got. But I'll admit, I was praying about it on the way down there!

As long as the Emerald Aisle box is checked on the mirror tag, you should be able to take it with no problem.

Just Thinking.... :groom:

If you took a sharpie and marked the tag on any vehicle, they would think its from the EA?

I wouldn't do this, but sometimes my mind gets the best of me!! :sad2:

If I reserve a full size car I assume from reading here it will be considered an Emerald reserve...does that mean I bypass the regular counter in the airport...go out to the parking garage and go to their kiosk counter...and sign in there and they will give me keys to the type of car I reserved?

Also, I am worried about a full size car.....there are 4 adults 4 large suitcases and maybe golf clubs......How big are the trunks on a full size car? Should I go higher? I am afraid of not fitting everything cuz then what would happen?

Yes, full size requires you to do Emerald reserve, which is the same as the isle (bypass counter, choose car, drive away) except your garinteed a full-size and nothing else. 4 Adults, 4 Large Suitcases and golf clubs maybe a little much for a full size. I know that golf clubs WON'T fit in the trunk of an Impala (which is the "norm" of fullsizes at National). Your best bet might be to reserve a premium car or go for 2 compacts, if possible...

Not Emerald Aisle, but Executive Aisle for us. We rented July 20-25 and got a minivan off of the Executive Aisle. The Aisle was packed. We got an 8 seater Sienna minivan. I didn't know they made 8 seater minivans, but they are there at National/MCO. For our May trip we had a brand new Buick LaCross. I know it's not Emerald Aisle, but I can't be the only one that belongs to Executive Aisle. (BTW: Executive Aisle means you are guaranteed a full size car, but you pay the intermediate price.)

Hmmm...how much does it cost to upgrade the membership to Executive aisle?

I think you are one of the very few here on the DIS! ;)

You have to rent a lot of cars to qualify for Executive Aisle. I would LOVE it but I couldn't ever travel down there more then 2 times a year with airfare what it is up here...someday maybe.

We arrived in Orlando on the B side at 10:00am on July 30. LOTS of cars but all appeared to be intermediates - G6's and Stratus' mostly.

We grabbed a G6 but when we sat in it, we felt like we were sitting in a hole. Even my 6 foot DH said the seat was too low for him.

We took a Stratus with 400 miles on it. Smooth ride and lots of trunk space. Our 4 roll-on suitcases and 4 backpacks easily fit in the trunk with room to spare. Plenty of interior space for 4 adults.

You have to have 40 "day" of rental's for excutive after this trip I will have 39!!!!!!! :confused3 Can you believe it SO close, oh well, Maybe I will have to go to the neighborhood national car rental and just borrow one for the day? ;)
