Has anybody heard anything about Disney buying the Elder Covered Bridge in Oconee County in GA? Just read in the local paper that they are planning to build a theme park there. It also said that hotel rooms have already been reserved for the people that are going to build the roller coasters.

Like I said before it was just something I read, and I thought I would ask since everybody on here seems to know Disney. It was just a question.

Not saying it wasn't

there are many rumors like this. Disney parks in Texas, Ohio, Virginia, Lousiania. It happens all the time, but are not very credible

No worries

I'll be glad when it's no longer April 1st. It will make it a lot easier to sort out what posts here are jokes and which ones are untrue rumors. They end up resulting in the same thing (nothing) it's just that one set is a lot more fun than the other.

Unfortunately, even on other calendar dates, there's still people posting about every month or so, some rumor about another Disney resort being built in another state....we've probably had about 1/2 of the U.S. states mentioned so far and none have come true.

The only one that was ever in planning stages was for Williamsburg, VA back in the mid 90's and that one was cancelled.

Perhaps it was an April Fools story in the newspaper.

Where did you read it? What was the name and date of the publication? What was the wording of the news item?

It's especially hard to believe "that hotel rooms have already been reserved for the people that are going to build the roller coasters." If any company were building a theme park, there would be an long period of planning, approvals, and site preparation before any people would be needed to build roller coasters.

There is some land for sale near the bridge (or at least it was available 01/21/2010): a whopping 2.3 acres. See http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/012110/new_552668473.shtml
