Yesterday, LucasFilm announced that Rian Johnson was going to helm a new trilogy of Star Wars movies with a new set of characters. This is a separate trilogy from VII, VIII, and IX.
On top of that, LucasFilm has also announced that they will be developing a live action tv show for Disney's new streaming service (which will be ready in 2019). The new streaming service will be significantly priced under Netflix. So, $5.99 per month, maybe?
Both of these announcements were a total surprise.
