I booked flights with Delta to tavel to MCO next April. We are two families travelling together...6 adults and 5 children.

The flights have changed some over the past few months, but nothing major. I looked on the web site today and there is another schedule change. This time we deaprt 30 minutes later on our return trip home. Now, when I call Delta to get seats assigned again I am told that there are no seats for them to assign to me and I have to wait until we check in at the airport. The rep says the flight is still wide open, but all seats that can be assigned already are.

Edited to add...I l know Delta changes flights all the time. I usually call and everything is taken care of. This time them not being able to give me seats is weird.

Has anyone heard of this before? I am just worried that when I get to the airport there wont' be any seats for us. Any advice? Thanks!

Call back later.

If the rep said the flights were wide open then she/he probably was doing something wrong on the seat assignments.

Do you have all these tickets assigned to skymiles accounts? If so log in and do it yourself. (I think you can also log in by confirmation number)

No, I do not have a Sky Miles Account. When I log in, it sayd that my family's seats at 13 D,E & F. The rep said that couldn't be because there is no row 13 on the air craft. I will call back later and see how that goes.

Have you looked at seatguru.com to confirm this? I know many hotels don't have a 13th floor, and some planes with multiple classes 'skip' some row numbers because there's a closet/galley/lav combination, or even just a wall, but row 13 is pretty far back for that range.

I did. Delta's web site said it is a Boeing 757. Seat Guru hs 3 types of 757's, so I am not sure which one I am on. However, 2 out of 3 didn't have a row 13.

I wish I could help. I complained last week that Delta had combined two flights and sat DH and I away from each other. (note to self- never complain about something like that on the DisBoards). The flight also was scheduled to leave 2 hours later than before, which is not good.
NOW they have changed the times AGAIN, but only by like 5 minutes. And they took away our seat assignments. I guess we are just going to have to wait until we get to the airport to see if they can asign us seats there.
I'm sure you'll get on the flight, but I don't know if you can sit together if the flight is booked. Delta really aggrevates me about that kind of stuff. I just hate not knowing where or IF I'll be sitting.

Beck0321...the changes don't bother me if they are willing to work with the customer and help. I dont' mind checking daily, it has just become a habit.

The part that did bother me is that this change just happened over the weekend and they are saying that they don't have seats to assign even though the flight is wide open. If you go on the website the plane is full. Doesn't add up.

It also concerns me that we are 11 people travelling together and I am the organizer. I would hate to get to the airport and have no seats or a bis mess.

If I was traveling with 11 people I would be concerned too! I'm not saying that to imply that you won't get your seats. But more that I have to have everything planned to a T and I, personally, would be freaking out about this. Especially if no one on Delta's end is of any help! I've heard that they will block out all the seats online but that they are really open. I don't really know what the point of that is. I think it might be something about giving preferred customers the first choice. I don't fly too often, so I really don't know if that's the case.
All I know is that I am getting the same thing when I log into Delta's website. We don't have seats and the plane is showing that it's full. I'm not going to worry about it TOO much since there's only two of us, but if I had 11 I would deman that they assign us SOMETHING at least.
I hope everything works out for all of you. Is the plane you're flying on pretty big? We have a small plane, doesn't seat very many at all. :guilty:

Update: I finally spoke with someone that helped. It turns out 8 people in our party have confirmed seats. My son, my husband and I do not...(figures I go through all the work and the daily planning). We have seats, just not confirmed seat #'s. Apparantly, the airline holds a block of seats that are used to seat people with special needs, move family members, etc. So we will need to wait until we get to the airport to get ours.

The rep did say that April is still far away and there very well could be more changes which would then give us seat #'s. Who knows, as long as we have a seat .

I've posted this before and I'll say it again: every time Delta makes even the slightest change to the schedule - whether a flight number changes or the flight time changes by FOUR (4) minutes (I kid you not!) - you will lose your seat assignments and have to call Delta to get them reassigned! If not for the fact that my Thanksgiving trip to WDW is on Delta using FF miles, I would've cancelled and gotten a refund long ago. I will stick with Delta this last time, only because changing to another carrier just prolongs having to deal with them for a future trip!

I understand that, that is not the issue. The issue is them saying they cannot assign any seat number to my family and I have no know wait until I get to the aiport...which will be mobbed sine it is Easter Week.

I was just relating my experience with Delta and them "losing" seat assignments. They're a PITA airline, and hopefully it will be the last time I fly with them.

Believe me, they weren't my first choice either. I usually fly Continental but they wanted over $500 per person. I got Delta for $261 per person for Easter Week.
