I couldn't help myself, so I watched the full clip of the new ride. I must admit that I'm going to miss that orange grove and seeing those cowboys on the mountains.

I guess it will be better in person instead of on my phone screen.

I think it will be better on the big screen, but wouldn't it be nice if there were options?!?! Side A - Soarin over the world, Side B - Soarin over California and then have the capability of others, maybe even get like Star Wars that you just don't know which one you'll get. I wouldn't mind Soarin over the Disney Parks!

I agree so far on the small screen the scene transitions aren't great. Perhaps they will work better on the big screen.

So is this for sure the one that will be here in the US as well? Looks neat, but I'm a bit disappointed they don't end in a Disney park over a castle.

Is this in Tokyo? The rides seem 10 minutes long and it's hardly busy at all. Looks like the Disney brass haven't had their way with this one yet.

It's in Shanghai. I do wonder if our ending will be different, but I believe the rest is supposed to be the same.

They have opened Shanghai for its soft opening.

And for the life of me, I can't figure out what the new smells will be??????

I went back and watched each scene trying to see if a scent could go with. :sad2:

Maybe that's the idea, eliminate the scents to reduce costs.

I think I'll wait to see the new Soarin' live at Epcot, but I am loving watching other videos like the Tron coaster and Shanghai's PotC. The old video will definitely be missed by our family. Seconding the call for a Star Tours type situation where we don't know which 'flight' we'll be taking.

I want "Soarin' Over World Showcase"(scenes from all 11 Countries) ending with a flyover and IllumiNations finale.:)

When I first heard of the new Soarin' and the additional theater at WDW, I really thought they'd keep the old version in one theater, while doing the new version in the others. I don't see why they can't do that! I will really miss the old Soarin'. I am hoping that when we're there in early June, they will be showing the old Soarin', until the new one debuts.

Waiting too. I watched a few ride videos to figure out whether I'd enjoy them before our last trip, but waited to see the old Soarin' live. I think I'd rather experience it all properly for this one!

This new "film" has a LOT of CGI.
I'm not sure that I'm a fan of that.

The original idea of Soarin' was to simulate actually hang-gliding (or free-flying) over actual terrain.
With so very much "enhanced-with-animation" scenes, the new presentation has much more artificial feel.

For years, many guests have complained of the lack of "transitions" in the original film.
It was mostly hard cuts with a few "soft cuts" (dissolves lasting just a very few, maybe 3-6, frames.)

The new film has made nearly all of the scene transitions CGI animated-enhanced and I think many are quite jarring.

But, the MUSIC SCORE is wonderful!
