New Show Format

YES! Go to the gym. Or course, you want to go to the gym!
Before you go, download some other Disney podcasts. There are plenty out there to fill up lots of treadmill time.

I always listen to Podcasts while working out, either at the gym, or outside, while walking. Yikes, I've listened (many times) to older podcasts, but I really need :goodvibesthe longer format for future workouts and walks.

I like the idea of the show being split up that way if they want to take more time discussing the news and housekeeping. Or spend more time on reviews that they usually rush through or discuss them in more detail. Perfect.

I also like the idea that they are going to release these over the week.

I am open to it and it is a little hard to get used to. But I'm interested to see how it will progress in the future.

The way I look at it is this......The Podcast Shows are NOT a part of the DU business...it's something extra that they do for US, and for that I am grateful...I like longer shows, but I am often interupted while listening at work, and have to pause it, or rewind to listen....I will take what ever they give us...I love the shows, and getting to listen 3 times a week is a bonus for me....JMHO

Mmm. Listened to the first in the new format this morning. Too early too tell I guess, but, I think I prefer the longer\all in one show so far. Why? I listen at work, or while mowing the lawn, or during extended activities. Having the show end so quickly seems odd.

Now, with that said, I suppose I can wait until all the shows for the week are up, and listen all at once, so maybe I'll get used to it eventually.

Somebody stolez the rest of the podcast.
:rotfl:
Hi , my name is Melissa and I'm a long podcastaholic

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi Melissa

Hi my name is Saundra and I too love long podcasts

:cutie:

I am going to go with the flo though cause it would be worse if there was no podcast at all. (do I get browny points:rolleyes1)

Happy 2011 and here is to a great year of the Dis, long or short podcasts, I still love you guys.

I don't love it either because I like to do a long activity while listening. I think that I will just have to wait until they are all posted and listen to all segments together.

Is there anyone who is a tech-y here who knows how to put all the segments together as one?

Exactly. I save the podcast for my long run each week--often up to 3 hours long and I just don't want to listed to 3 hours of music, so the podcast is perfect--I listen to some music and some laughter! And yes, I can save up the week's worth, but that is more cumbersome.

I wonder if the Podcast team considered an "enhanced" podcast format. The team tried this out awhile ago (maybe a year or so ago? not sure...) where you could go to different segments very easily - much like you would go to a different chapter in an audio book. If you wanted to hear a restaurant review (for example) you could go to it easily and there would be no fast forwarding or rewinding. With an enhanced podcast, you could also integrate other forms of media...

Just my thoughts!

I have wondered why they do not do this too. It's very easy - similar to putting a chapter marker in a DVD, and allows for easy access to the different show parts.

I think this would be the better solution, IMHO, as an avid listener of course! :goodvibes

If you don't want to get too technical with mp3 joining software, I would just recommend creating a playlist and add the separate podcasts in order of preference. Hit play and off you go.

Just wanted to clarify...

I hope my post earlier didn't come across as ungrateful at all.

I am so very thankful that the team does the podcast, so by all means, they can change it around however they want and I'll still listen and still be grateful!!!!

I just have a near cult-like adoration for the shows haha, so I tend to react strongly when something happens.

Can't wait to hear the next one!

This was my thought as well. Many other podcast do this, and if you want to skip to a certain segment, just one click on the ipod and you are set.

I too am a fan of the longer shows (but will take what I can get :) )

I download a block of shows at one time then listen to them in my car so this won't affect me too much except maybe having to hear the intro and closing more often.
It is funny because I always hear about the shows here about 2 - 3 weeks before I get around to downloading them to my ipod. So if anything controversial happens there are never any surprises because I have already heard about it from you.
I don't care how they come out as long as they continue to come out every week. I listen to them when I drive to and from work and they take me out of my stress load.

I like the new format...IMHO..it gives me 3 days now to listen, it will easier to find certain topics.

I agree! I'm THRILLED with the idea of getting something new to listen to three days a week. In the long run, I think we might end up getting even more time with the gang because each segment might go a little longer...

Thanks Podcast team, for all you do!

This is possible , because they did it once for the first Universal show of 2010.

They never did it again , so I'm not sure if it is a big pain in the butt for whoever has to do it or what. :confused3

I've been a listener for about a year and I can never find 90+ minutes to hear the whole thing, so I'm happy with the changes. It always seems to me that my ipod loses the spot I paused it and I give up. I wonder what the end of a podcast actually sounds like? :rotfl:

Not that my opinion really matters much on these here boards, but I'm gonna offer it up anyway:

Boo to the shorter/split shows.

But I love you anyway. :surfweb:

Personally I will enjoy the split shows (not shorter, just split) ;)

I have about a 30 minute bike ride to/from work and usually walk for about 30 minutes at lunch so show of around that length are perfect for me.
