Having the same named ships with different companies is quite common. I believe NCL also a ship named the Dream but that is just part of the cruise business. Carnival also has a ship named the Magic.
I don't mind Dreams but I also would have preferred Fantasia for the other ship....I'll still sail them though!!!
Glad they finally announced it though.....did they announce the Godmothers of the new ships yet?
Hi All. New Member and just catching up on this thread for the first time. We were hoping for Disney Dream definitely -- but also hoping they would have a contest for the other name. Our choices were Disney Dream, Disney Quest, Disney Charm and Disney Vision.
For those interested in all the ship names (and yes, Carnival will have covered all the Disney names by the end of 2011), here's a great website: cruiseserver.net/travelpage/other/new_build.asp. Unfortunately, it's still showing the Disney names as TBD.
i really dont care about the names of the ship i care what the ship looks like and what does it have to offer. did any of you didnt want to go out on a date with someone because that person name you didnt like?
Believe it or not -- there's one of those out there too. MSC line just built one named Fantasia for release in December 2008.
I think Fantasy goes in line with the old-fashioned Disney way of thinking -- movies have Wonder, Magic and Fantasy! Like the old Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights I don't think you can compare it to Carnival's mess of a ship or the connotations it might conjure up Disney will make the name their own in no time.
I just can't wait to get on the ships and see what they look like, what the themes of the restaurants will be and who's statue will be in the atrium
