The Lightning McQueen "rumor" IS apparently true. On my "backstage pass" newsletter thingamabob on the Disney site, it said they would be the new "grand CARshalls" (reminds me of Pal Mickey's jokes LOL) of the Parade at MGM and would do meet and greets there ,too, beginning April 28th.

Lightning McQueen, the hotshot rookie racer, and Mater, the trusty tow truck from the town of Radiator Springs, in person — long before the highly-anticipated animated feature premieres in theaters on June 9.

Both characters will appear in person throughout the day for “auto”-graphs and photos, and as “Grand Carshals” of Disney’s Stars and Motor Cars Parade every day.

Would love to see something change in regards to Illuminations....

I thought that i have heard that Illuminations is going to be redone and will debut around september or october for a 25th anniversary celebration.

It opened earlier this year, and is in the Backlot Area where Superstar Limo used to be. Not far from Muppetvision 3D. I am really looking forward to riding it in June!

That explains it - we were there in August, 2005!

I have a feeling that the process of waiting to build may be two-fold. There may not have been any imaginneering plans on the table and approved and so the development stages are still ocurring, especially given that they have to be considerate of the dimensions of the available land.

I think that unfolding an attraction of this size really takes a lot on imagineering's part because a lot hangs on it- if it's going to be a ride the size of space mountain a lot of time, money, and not to mention publicity, etc, will have to go into it. Therefore Im sure the reason its taking a long time is because they have to take it seriously.

WDWGuide, thanks for posting that link! I have never done a WDW behind the scenes tour so it is fun to see what it really looks like back there!!

In regards to Illuminations, didn't it premier late 1999 or so for the millenium celebration? IMHO it is time to update it- and I am sure whatever they have in store will knock our socks off!!

The Time Keeper attraction is being internally demolished (confirmed) and boxes were seen around the attraction saying something about "Monsters Inc Demo", possibly meaning that a Monsters Inc attraction could be going into the location.

Can someone please explain to me what Monsters Inc has to do with Tomorrowland? I don't think it really fits the theming there. Just my opinion!

AGREED!

Not to mention, unlike at DL where there's an actual attraction, this one is rumored to be a "Stage Show".

I think the reality is, by the recent additions (Stitch) and rumors swirling, Disney is showing us that really there's no room in Tomorrowland to do anything substantial.

It's my opinion that Monsters Inc. fits into Tomorrowland better than it would fit into any of the other lands of the Magic Kingdom.

High-tech Monstropolis, where screams are converted to energy, would neither fit with the classic fairy tales of Fantasyland, nor with the classic Disney characters of Mickey's ToonTown Fair. And the other lands would be even less appropriate.

Despite it's name, Tomorrowland isn't about tomorrow, and it never really has been. Tomorrowland is more of a Sci-Fi-Fantasyland. Think about Buzz Lightyear and Stitch at Tomorrowland at WDW. These are fun, fantasy attractions. (Well, Stitch isn't really that fun, but that's another topic.)

The Circlevision waiting area and theater are big enough to hold a decent "C" ticket attraction, and there's room behind the building to enlarge it if necessary. I hope we gat a real ride, not just a show.

While I'd prefer a ride, that theater sits closed most of the time (except Christmas for the Night Before Christmas Show and a place for high schoolers to perform occasionally. It would be nice to see something in that theater. No show at the Diamond Horseshoe anymore all character meet and greet spots, a show wouldn't be so bad. Of course I'd still like to see a ride. As for Monster's fitting into Tomorrow Land I still don't get the connection, with Stitch well at least he started out an Alien. Monsters, at least for me has a better fit in MGM, but if I had to place them somewhere in the MK I'd go with Fantasyland since monsters are make believe.

I'm not sure that attractions like Stitch and Buzz do a lot to support the idea that Tomorrowland never really has been about tomorrow.

The race track doesn't fit either (despite the "effort" made to make it a futuristic attraction), but I'm not sure when it was added. It should be noted that Autopia at Disneyland was most certainly about tomorrow, at least at the time it opened.

However, given the apparent abandonment of the "tomorrow" theme, followed by the abandonment of the "future that never was" theme, or whatever it was called, then sure, Monsters fits as well as Stitch and Buzz.

But this is most certainly a radical change in direction compared to how Tomorrowland was originally envisioned.

According to Magical Mountain, there is talk that Illuminations may be replaced for Epcot's 25th Anniversary. Recently, one night, local hotel guests were informed of a late night fireworks testing that would take place.

While I definately think that Illuminations will be redone for the Epcot 25th, te fireworks testing at Epcot happens more often than one would think and really isn't a sign of a sure change.

In the past couple of years, we've seen the "testing", normally done in the wee hours of the morning, twice.

If you're staying at one of the Epcot resorts & they're planning a test, they'll normally leave a voice mail message in your room letting you know what time it will be taking place.

The last one that we saw, in October, was amazing!!! Car alarms we going off & it woke the kids up out of a dead sleep. So, if any one is lucky enough to be staying at either the BW or Y&B during one of these, don't miss it, it's spectacular!!!

Look for the following possibility.... andby this, I mean this is a guess of mine, not hard core facts or knowledge... strictly something I think can happen...

CoP is going bye bye... So will Galaxy Theater and the former Skyway Building... That entire area could be used to house an Incredibles attraction.. possibly a robocoaster kind of ride...

Nobody knows. Remember that this is just rumor, but in many cases, many rumors on this magnitude come to reality, especially when there are reasonable reasons behind it.

Regarding the attraction, we dont know. However, Iger has been mentioning how he wants something with Narnia to be in WDW on a larger scale.

Couple that with The DL WWTBAM closing, and the size of the building and you have a great rumor.
