There is a crane working over by Canada. We asked a CM about it and he said they are putting in a simulation type ride in Canada called "Soaring". He really didn't elaborate on it, but it sounds neat.

It's called Soaring Over California, and it's a ride that combines movie screens with a moving vehicle. From what I hear, you sit in a hang glider type dealie and you're several yards above the ground and all around you are panorama screens of scenic
California and the hang glider moves around. Sounds pretty neat.

We "soared over California" last year at Disneyland. It's a great ride! Not only do you feel like you're really flying over what you're seeing, but there are mists that blow when you're going through clouds, and in its magical way, Disney allows you to smell the experience, too. (No, it doesn't swoop down over herds of cows or pigs!) Wish it was going to be open this summer in WDW!

It's a fun ride for sure. People of all ages (assuming they meet the height requirements) should enjoy it. I am just sad that the are recycling the California film for the Florida attraction. One of the special things about the California film is that it ends by flying you over Disneyland. It makes it feel more magical as if you have been returned to the park after your "flight." You won't get the same feeling at the Florida attraction.
Still... I am very happy to see this attraction coming to EPCOT.

When is the expected opening date for Soarin?

I also "Soared" last summer at DL. I would have to say its the best ride in DL to date. Its just AWESOME, not only do you feel like you are flying but where ever you are you can smell the scenery! For example, at one point you fly over an orange grove and you can actually smell the oranges. When you fly over Malibu you can smell the ocean. We rode that ride every day for 5 days at least twice a day! Its great for the summer because the first scenery you are in the clouds and you can feel the mist and its very cool, literally! Maybe they will change the ending to fit WDW, I hope so, but either way its an awesome ride.

I haven't read much about this ride at all. When is it supposed to open? And it's going to be *Over California* for sure? It would make sense, to me at least, to change the film to *Florida* or whatever. But that's just me being all logical. ;)

...must go find more info...

Visit DEB'S SITE for more information on SOARIN'. The ride opens next year in 2005. YEA! Will be ready for my trip in 2006. Everest will also be open before DH and I travel in 2006! :jumping1: :cool1: It opens in the early spring and we travel in late May! :happy1:

I love Soarin...but why over CA in FL? I have heard rumors for years that it was coming to WDW, but thought it would be over FL or the US. It won't be the same, you aren't in CA at Epcot. You can't see any of the sights that are in the movie. We went back to CA after seeing this movie (on the ride) because there was so much more of CA that we wanted to see.

That said, it's one of the best rides I have ever been on!!

We loved Soarin' as well and we're really glad its coming to WDW. I think they will have it as Soarin' over the USA or Soarin' over the Land (as part of the Land pavilion). I don't think they will leave it as Soarin' over California like at DCA.

WDWLVR,

As much as I wish you were right, some of the information I have seen specifically states the attraction will be Soarin over California. I was surprised when I saw this, but maybe (hopefully)it is not correct.

Maybe they want to keep it Soarin over California to give a plug to DCA. . .

I loved this ride at California Adventure!!!! SO COOL!!!!!!

It is disappointing that they aren't going to create a new film for Epcot, but maybe thats' to save money? Everything is all about money... but regardless, its a cool ride and I'm looking forward to it!
