New Restaurant Coming to MK!

Blue Bayou is my must book meal at DL. I'd love to see one in MK.
What makes Blue Bayou so special is the way it is integrated into the PoTC ride. The Adventureland Verandah is nowhere near Pirates. It wouldn't overlook anything and would be a rather weird setup if they tried to recreate Blue Bayou there. The restaurant is much closer to the Jungle Cruise, which is why I guessed earlier that it might draw its theming from there.

I have girls and they would love it!

Same here....my girls still like the princesses (they are 13 and 11), but they would be so stoked if there was a pirate themed restaurant coming, we are all huge POTC fans in our house. As a matter of fact, they would be so stoked if there was any sort of adventure themed restaurant coming as would DH and I :goodvibes.

While I would absolutely LOVE if they put in the Blue Bayou (love me some monte cristo sandwiches - NOM!), I also don't think that's what this will be. For two reasons, 1) The Blue Bayou in DLR is located in New Orleans Square, so it makes sense to have a beyou-themed restaurant there. It would make more sense to put in the Blue Bayou near the Haunted Mansion in MK than over in Adventureland, and 2) Because of the reason posted above (Blue Bayou at DLR has PotC running through it, so that theming alone is a huge crowd draw).

Let's see (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), the closest attractions to the Adventureland Veranda is Aloha Isle and Swiss Family Treehouse, with Jungle Cruise and Aladdin's Magic Carpets not too far away (closer than, say, PotC is to the Veranda), so it really could be anything, lol. That's such a wide array of different themes!

All sounds awesome, but it does make me wonder why the common consensus is that "MK needs more table service" when I really don't hear this about the other parks. The comment about DHS is that all the food is bad, but I don't really hear that it's not *enough* (4 TS there). Then people seem content with AKs food (3 TS there, right? Rainforest, a Yak & yeti and Tusker house?). MK has Crystal Palace, CRT, Be. our Guest, Tony's and Liberty Tree. . .

Would love a new themed TS in MK (especially pirates) but I just think this common criticism is unusual in that it's only applied to MK. More guests overall in MK? Guests treating AK or DHS as half day parks eat elsewhere?

The comment about DHS is that all the food is bad,
Not really. The criticism of DHS is that the CS food is uninspired. There are really few complaints about 50's Prime Time, Sci-Fi, Brown Derby or Momma Melrose. Every one of those places is fairly well received.

MK has Crystal Palace, CRT, Be. our Guest, Tony's and Liberty Tree. . .

And this is why people think that MK needs another. Tony's is awful. BoG is so hard to get into that one cannot count on it as an option. Liberty Tree is, as Kevin put it in his review, "Soup Kitchen Thanksgiving". And that leaves Crystal Palace and CRT which are character driven. I would imagine that a TS restaurant in Adventureland would fill a gap that currently exists in the MK, which would be for more exotic, east Asian or southeast Asian cuisine. Something more akin to Yak and Yeti or Kona or both.

I think they need another TS because the ones they have book up very fast, especially for dinner. They could easily fill another one.

So is this why I can't book liberty tree for lunch in August?

The rumor of the month has it that a new sit down Jungle Cruise themed restaurant where the Adventureland Terrace was, will be added and that Liberty Tree is closing for a 4-1/2 month refurb to kitchens (apparently they shared a common kitchen).

Is this a real rumor from sources, or did my earlier post somehow go viral? :jumping1:

Or maybe something like a "Jungle Cruise Meets Rainforest Cafe" restaurant.
..
..
..
Or maybe a Starbucks.

This was posted on another site last month.

In other news, you may have noticed a new lengthy rehab is also planned for the Liberty Tree Tavern that will see the restaurant closed for almost 5 months (July 6 to Nov. 20). I'm told that the focus of the work here isn't on the restaurant itself, but rather a complete redesign of the kitchen area that will transform it into a new multi-use kitchen area that will service not only the Liberty Tree Tavern, but an all new restaurant concept planned to open in the old Verandah space at the entrance to Adventureland. This is apparently the main reason why Tinker Bell was moved out of the building and sent to her new Main Street digs.
While the concept may still be a bit fluid, the overall concept from what I understand is that it will be themed to tie into the Jungle Cruise theme. In short... imagine a crazy Adventureland themed restaurant staffed by the Jungle Cruise Captains as a way to pay the bills when they are in-between jobs, and to expand their bad comedy into the realm of the culinary arts.

Cool! I guess that means that I have what it takes to be an Imagineer!!

How long is LTT scheduled to be closed?

I read the same thread on the webpage quoted by the OP. Disney is able to be super vague on their building permits, for good reason. Sometimes it is just a pre-permit where work might not start for a few weeks or a few months. Some say, refurbs on a resort; they may take out all the permits at once, but the work actually lasts a full year. Again, they need to have control over what information goes out, so they don't disappoint guests.

When Disney is ready to close it and have a schedule, they will announce it.

This is so exciting! A pirate-themed restaurant would be so, so cool. My kids would LOVE it!

Wow! Is this actually an addition that Disney is making that people ACTUALLY LIKE instead of nonstop complaining about it?

It sounds great to me. Either Pirates of Jungle Cruise themed will be awesome and MK really could use more table service places. I can't wait to see the details.

Wait, doesn't Peter Pan meet in the Adventureland Verandah? Don't get me wrong, I've been dying to see another TS in MK (especially one that serves breakfast), but... what about Peter? :scared:

Peter Pan is currently meeting there, but he's been all over the MK in the last few years. Before the verandah he was located just outside his ride in Fantasyland, and before that he was located on the walkway into Adventureland. Personally, I think it makes the most sense to locate him in Fantasyland near his ride, but the space he was using is no longer an option thanks to the reconfiguration of the ride queue. I have no doubt they'll find a place for him somewhere in MK, though.

I think people here are pretty uniformly in the camp of "making good use of vacant buildings and replacing closed attractions with new ones is a better use of time and money than figuring out high tech ways to reallocate the shrinking ride capacity due to attraction closures." So this fits squarely within that wheelhouse. Next up:

  • American Idol
  • Back Lot Tour
  • Tortuga Tavern
  • Sounds Dangerous
  • Odyssey Restaurant
  • Wonders of Life
  • Diamond Horseshoe

And I'm sure I'm leaving several more out.

This sounds great. Maybe it will be a Jungle Cruise overlay on an Adventurer's Club idea - animals talking on the walls, waiters cracking bad jokes and interacting with the guests. That would be fantastic!

Tortuga Tavern isn't vacant.

But how about the 2nd floor of the Imagination Pavilion?
