Was it really necessary for WDW to make this change along with all the other attempts to “ refresh & update“ ?
I don’t feel the need for new names to enhance my booking experience.
Just the new Disney way to make it sound better and like an improvement .

True. Most people seem to think the new categories are way too broad & another price increase for some. Where you used to pay less for a roof or parking lot view, now you’re paying the same as if you had nice garden view. I’m sure it gives Disney more flexibility in assigning rooms. But I think more people are going to be unhappy to pay more for a lesser view. And they have no basis to complain, because of the broad category description.
Can't imagine paying for a pool view at the Yatch or Beach Club and it not being of SAB. That never entered my mind that you could get a quiet pool view.

Yes, the resort view is now "Views of Landscape, Trees, Rooftop or Parking Areas". They combined the standard and nature views into one category. Fireworks and water are the other separate booking categories at the WL now.
I just subscribed today, and already feeling like I wasted money - I found it inaccurate and unwieldy to use - I've had better luck just asking other people what rooms to ask for (eyeroll)!
WL already has a category called Standard view king, so I would assume that means that resort view king would be a combination of nature view and courtyard view rooms.
I would call Disney reservations and have a room request added to your reservation if you prefer nature or courtyard, and whatever else you would like.
