New Port Richey

So, has anybody stayed around here ? What did you think of the area ? Suitable for kids (8 and 12) ?

Hi Tony,

We stayed here a few years back in a wonderful villa which we booked through Virgin Holidays.

Newport Richey itself seemed farily small and with little to do - however it is brilliantly situated near to Clearwater and other areas on the gulf side.

Nearby are the amazing Honeymoon & Caladesi Natural Park Islands and Clearwater with its massive array of activities and its super soft beach and great fun pier. Plus there are many cruises around this area.

Also, it is fairly near to Busch Gardens and Tampa (well closer than Orlando), so if you were thinking of doing a split stay (Orlando/Newport Richey) then you could Busch and the Adventure Island Water Park (right near Busch) in the Newport Richey half of the holiday.

Also nearby are some excellent shopping opportunities and some fantastic golf courses.

Got to second everything Richard said. We have stayed at Hudson, which is joined onto New Port Richey many many times and its a lovely area. Perfect for a two centre holiday.

Great, just the sort of feedback I needed. We're intending on doing 2 weeks in Orlando followed by a week on the Gulf Coast, so we could do Busch Gardens from either location. Sounds pretty ideal, so I'll start investigating the villas.

Thanks for the site Netty. Unfortunately it's one of those sites that looks like it's run by advertisements. When looking for restaurants only 1 is listed, and that's in another town !

Still, let us all know what you think of the place when you get back.
