Fantastic. We live in Chicago and it's crazy that there's a pope from this part of the world a mere 250 years after the country was formalized.

If the Cubs start winning the World Series again and we see Cubs baseballs flying higher and longer than normally humanly possible, we'll all suspect the new Pope had a hand in it.

The more and more I hear about Pope Leo XIV on The Catholic Channel the more I’m looking forward to seeing how he’s going to lead us Catholics.

No but universal respect and not criticism every second would have been more welcomed on a day like today.

WGN talked to the Pope's brother. The Pope is a White Sox fan. Their Mom was a Cubs fan, however their father was a Cardinals fan.

I will agree with that and it’s something I wouldn’t do, but others are gonna be how they are gonna be. What’s important is how WE (you & I) are towards others. Remember how Jesus taught that if someone strikes you on your right cheek, you should turn your other cheek as well.

I don’t believe that us getting a new Pope is a controversial subject, and therefore I will not participate. This is a happy day for us Catholics, and I will not expose myself to others putting a dark cloud over it. I learned a long time ago that if something is going to give me unrest, then I need to stay away from it. I’m not even going to look at that thread again - it was a one and done.

Truthfully…. I almost never go on the controversial board. I come on The DIS for fun not to get in debates.
