New pool at SSR for Summer 2011

i saw that this am on allears, looks like a nice idea, though TBH my only concern was when they would start building and wether we ll be staying in a building site in aug;):rotfl2:

Pools don't make any difference to our choice, in 16 nights last year we only went in main OKW pool once for 20-30 mins, smaller pool a couple of times for quick dip.
I said last night to Karen have we to try SSR next year for a change. We don't know what to do.

Us neither, but like the idea of the new CS place. The Paddock has a lot of advantages and the views from the rooms are stunning, but with nowhere close to fill the mugs or use our DDP credits, it's not an option for us at the moment, but with the new pool area it could be looking a better option. I just hope the same offers will be on Disney UK for 2011 and I'll have a chance to sample it :thumbsup2

when the kids were younger, the pool was a major factor in our choice...

that slide looks very cool!!

I was reading about this in the latest Disney files magazine at the weekend. The extra 'main' pool and another CS place would certainly make SSR a more attractive option for us.

Like Joh and Deb, I read about this last week. I'm still not sure it would entice me to request the Paddock section, but it will be a welcome addition.

This will be lovely. Having just read the 2011 free dining offer Wayne posted, it looks like we may give SSR a whirl.

I knew I shouldn't have come back to these boards. There is always so much fab info.:thumbsup2

I should be on commission:rotfl2:

Probably make more money out of it, not as easy as it was to make a living being a florist. Unfortunately flowers are one of the 1st things people cut back on in a recession.

you're a florist? didn't know that...

flowers are cheaper than cheap here, so most people buy them at least once a week, if not more...but they're so cheap, even with people buying lots of flowers, i can't figure out how florists can make a living..

to give you an idea how cheap - for my son's wedding, we had massive amounts of flowers....there were 50 tables for the dinner - on each table was a huge arrangement of gorgeous flowers (sorry, i'm not good at knowing types, but they were stunning), also, before the wedding, in the reception there were massive amounts of flowers everywhere....also leading up to the wedding canopy was overflowing with flowers as was the area around the bride (before the wedding)...
for all of that, and i mean we had tons and tons and tons and tons of flowers everywhere (there were 500 guests, so lots of place to put flowers),
all of that cost only $375.....yes, you read that correctly, less than $400.....
nutso no? as i said, flowers are cheaper than cheap here...
so i haven't a clue how florists here can possibly make a living at it...

i just went to a funeral and bought a beautiful huge bouquet for $4....
how do they make a living?

Unfortunately here is the opposite, too expensive, as a country that really only grows daffodils we have to import just about every flower we sell, majority from Holland, although other countries try to get in like Kenya, ecuador, and a few others, only Israel (Carmel Agrexco) and columbia have much sucess.
I have had a bride in this week going thru what she wants for June, her bouquet, 5 bridesmaids, 10 pew ends, 3 church arrangements she has a budget of £500 for flowers, we should be able to stick to that but depends on cost of flowers the week they arrive, she wants to incude Calla lillies which can vary between £1-5 each, they fluctuate so much.
Been in this sindustry for 25 years, people still want to pay what they did 25 years ago, younger ones not buying, supermarkets taking the trade, funerals people give to charity instead of flowers, economy on its knees, all leads to hard times for florists.

And we still can't decide on SSR or OKW for next year. Wish they would release prices.

well you're so great with all the travel info you provide, you really should get into the business...
although i imagine there is a tremendous amount of competition...

doesn't DU need a specialist to deal with all the Brits? you'd be stupendous at it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as for OKW vs SSR, even with the new pool, i still think i'd prefer OKW...the rooms are just so nice and large...and i love the feel of OKW.......the theming of it speaks to me much more than the theming of SSR...
but that's the great thing about disney...something for everyone....

the truth is, we never used the main pool at OKW either...we use the quiet pool near our preferred location...

Totally agree on both counts! :thumbsup2

We thought SSR was soul-less when we first toured it, but then we went around a second time and were wow-ed by its beauty.
We've always loved OKW on the photos, but when we visited, it just looked really overgrown and even run-down  Also we thought the food options were even more limited than SSR. Maybe we just saw it on a bad day, but maybe it's just not for us.

Like you said - different strokes and all that!

:)
