New 'picnic' Dining Option at AK!

I'm always looking for new fun things to try in the parks. I think it would be neat to have a picnic at AK. Don't get me wrong, it's not something I would want to do all the time but it might be a nice little experience to give a try!

My12 yr old DGDs love green beans :confused3 and I am wondering if we would be able to get two orders of the beans as part of the 4 options?

This does seem like a good idea, I just wish that it was available for 2 people. I wonder what they mean by 6 pieces of rotisserie chicken; do they give you a half a chicken per person, each piece is either a leg/thigh or breast/wing or are they going to separate each piece, breast, wing, leg, thigh. If it is the later, the deal is not as good considering that you can get a 1/2 chicken meal at the cs restaurant for under $10.

This looks interesting! I don't see any reason why you couldn't take it out of the park.

Wow I am excited about this. i think it is an awesome idea and i cant wait to try it. My sis and I will be taking two nieces and a nephew next Feb. and I think this will be perfect for us. Can't wait til somebody tries it and posts a review.

The smallest number this feeds is 3. Too bad, because I think this is something ds(10) and I would love to do at AK (his favorite park!). At 1 adult cs credit per meal it sounds like a great deal. Maybe they will tweak it by our trip and allow for families of 2 to join in!

I think this is a clever idea and we may give it a try. I am surprised, though, that there is no vegetarian option. We have a vegetarian in our family, which will make this tricky. I guess we could disassemble the sandwiches, but it seems odd that there wouldn't be a veggie wrap or something in the first place as an option.

I also wonder about the mashed potatoes and gravy, if they are together in one container. (Our veggie loves mashed potatoes.) Since the info makes such a point of no substitutions or modifications, I wonder if we can get "no gravy," or if that would be a big deal.

Still, it's a clever idea that sounds fun to try.

I look forward to reading reviews after people try this. We are going in June and I would like to try this for the 4 of us who are going (2 Adults and 2 children). I worry about using 4 adult CS credits - then DH & I will be out a meal. This might be better as an OOP option for us. Maybe once people try the picnic it will clear up some of my confusion. :)

ooh! i love this picnic idea! Will definatley be trying this when using the ddp in july. :)

Jumping on to see if anyone posts pix! (It started this week, right??) Seems odd that they didn't do anything to include "kids" in it for those on the dining plan. (We are not doing the dining plan and probably won't do this anyhow b/c Flame Tree is where we plan to go that day!) And too bad it's only water in the picnic and not milk/juice/soda. But guess that'd be trickier to "pack".

OH - and since when are chips a gourmet side? LOL :rotfl2:

I've just scanned through this thread, so if this has been mentioned already, I'm sorry. Does anyone know where the 'picnic locations' are? I can't recall ever seeing very many picnic tables or picnic areas in AK. If so, they were attached to another CS restaurant or there were very few. Certainly not enough for a bunch of families to all enjoy these picnics. Did I miss something? :confused3

Looking at the map, they are scattered all through AK, usually behing a CS location, and they are using the outside dining area of Tusker House. Wondering through the parks during our visits, I saw a lot of outdoor dining areas that were under-used or completely empty.

Here is a link to the map in the brochure as shown on the site that is linked in the first post.
