I just received my Used/Like New Pentax K5 from Amazon Warehouse Deals and am totally blown away. When I saw the price, $768, for the camera and an 18-55 WR lens, I was taken aback and very apprehensive. But being Amazon, what was there to lose. It came with free shipping and 0% financing. When I opened the box, I was shocked to see everything still in the original packaging. In the below picture I took the battery, charger and cord out of their packaging. I checked the camera for actuations and there were '28'!!! There was a memory card with about 5 minutes of home videos in the camera. This camera is brand new and almost half price. For me, it is the deal of the century!!

Sweet deal, sweet camera, excellent sensor! Nice find.

I myself just bought a new Sony A580 which shares that same 16MP sensor - mine just hit Orlando on its way from Pennsylvania, working its way down to South Florida hopefully in the next day or two - can't wait. Not as big of a discount as yours, but I was happy to be under $800 for that awesome sensor.

Now, I assume your battery's already charging and you're getting ready to start snapping pics of everything within 100 feet of you??!!

I'm still stunned at what I found when I opened the box. Almost everything was in its original packaging. When I checked the shutter activations and found only 28, that shoved me over the top. Justin, yes, the battery is charging!! I soooo wanted a high usable ISO camera body before our WDW trip in 61 days, but I just couldn't afford $1,200-$1,400. When I saw $768 my first reaction was, "What's wrong with it?" I was very apprehensive, but being Amazon, 0% financing and free shipping, I didn't think there was anything to lose. The worst case scenario was I ship it back for free and continue to shoot with my two K10D's. This kit is currently selling for $1,349.95 everywhere! I can sell one of my two other 18-55's and even recoup some of the $768. This was a win/win!! Watch out Peter Pan ride I'm on my way!!:rotfl2:

Great googly moogly that's a great deal. Congrats to you! I'm jealous. I'd love to upgrade my K7 to get that better low light sensor for dark rides.

I am so jealous! But until I learn more that is still way too much camera! You take amazing photos with your k10, I can't wait to see what you can produce with this!

I did have to take in for service. Fortunately, the Pentax Service Center is 20 minutes from my house. I noticed the horizon was not level and actually got worse when I used the in-camera automatic leveling. Taking it in for warranty service does not bother me at all, because I'm a firm believer that things break and get fixed. Other than that, it is an impressive camera. I dialed in all the AF for all my lenses which made a world of difference. The low ISO is impressive and the in-camera HDR is cool. It is a steep learning curve coming from the K10. I also have a line on the battery grip from one of our track photographers who recently switched to Canon. He only used it once or twice and wants $100 for it. I am hoping to score with that one.

I just got the K-5 back from service and have been fine tuning all my lenses. What a sweet camera. The tilted horizon was caused by a malfunctioning shake reduction block/system. They replaced the entire shake reduction system and the sensor (all under warranty). I'm still fine tuning everything so I can get out and practice before our trip in 16 days. I'm still a little stunned as to how far cameras have come in the short five years since my K10D's were introduced. I have enjoyed using my K10 so much it was kind of sad taking it apart for storage in my bag as the emergency back-up camera. I will use it as the second camera during race season, but for now it is relegated to back-up.

Hopefully we'll be seeing some SWEET pictures out of that baby soon!

Best of luck...
Joanie

What an awesome deal! Congrats....... and have a great trip!

Get posting as soon as you get back so I can have a sneak peek before we go!

I can't believe this deal fell into my lap! I have been fine tuning everything and am about to go out on a photo safari around town. The learning curve is far more than I anticipated. I am shocked how far advanced cameras have come since we converted from our film SLR to the DSLR 4 1/2 years ago.

Here are a few from this morning's walkabout our downtown area. I needed to get out this morning with the K-5 to test my fine tune settings. As can be seen, it was a very gloomy Fall morning. This allowed me to test different ISO settings to gauge noise. My goal was to not be able to tell image-wise, which lens I was using.
