Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone has applied for a new adult passport through the mail recently? I sent my application in 2 weeks ago from Ontario, and I know the processing time is 20 business days, but I was wondering if it's possible that it will be quicker? When I applied it wasn't super urgent for me to get my new passport but now it's come up that I need to apply for a visa for this summer and would really like my new passport soon...thanks!

We recently went through the application process for two child passports, which really shouldn't be any slower than an adult application. I sent the applications by courier January 17, they were received January 20th, they charged my credit card on February 3rd and I received the notice that they were at the postal outlet for me to pick up on February 24th. We aren't travelling until October 2022 so it wasn't marked urgent. Once it's been more than 20 business days, you can inquire about the status of your application and they can potentially escalate it depending on your circumstances.

We are in Saskatchewan. From them receiving it via currier (beginning of February) to it arriving at our postal facility for pick up- it was exactly 15 business days. This was a for a child’s renewal.

We sent ours in Feb. 14th and we know that they were received Feb. 17th but we still have not received them by mail and they have not processed the credit card. Just sent in a request for status information and it says that will take up to three days to process. Tried calling yesterday but the message said there were over 300 people in line. Fingers crossed.

Dang that sucks…I’m really hoping to get mine soon but I can’t call yet for status information. Hopefully you hear something soon 🤞

I tried to mail my daughter’s today with tracking via Canada Post and they couldn’t find the address provided:

Mailing address (non-courier)
Government of Canada
Passport Program
Gatineau, Quebec K1A 0G3

What courier service did people use and what was the cost?

Courier address
Government of Canada
Passport Program
22 de Varennes Street
Gatineau, Quebec J8T 8R1

I used Purolator. I think the cost was about $15 for me. Used the courier address below with no issues.

I've heard some really hit and miss stories recently. I was fortunately able to get an appointment in Calgary and was able to pick up after two business days (paid for the expedited processing). But I've heard stories of people who mailed their applications in January and not received anything back. Definitely followup regularly.

That is odd as I sent it a month ago to the mailing address you listed, via Canada Post Registered mail. No problems and it got there in 2 days.

It's probably best and easiest to make the appointment and hand it in. It comes with a tracking code and whatnot.

Too much risk with mailing in applications now a days, mail always seem to get lost!

Sent two kid applications to the non-courrier address, both in a single ExpressPost envelope. Cost was approx. 15$. Mailed end of February and credit card was charged last week.

This would be great advice but you can’t get an appointment unless your travel dates are within the next 25 business days. Even just to go to Service Canada to have them review and submit on your behalf.

Service Canada must have just recently updates their website then because it now says you can make an appointment to hand in your application even if your travel dates are beyond 25 business days. I'm currently waiting for a call back as my oldest, her passport expires in May. I would prefer to hand the file in to get a number right away and so that I can keep her birth certificate so we can at least go over the border while we wait for her passport. Website says expect a call back within 2 business days...I submitted my info on Tuesday....

Good to know! I always get mine reviewed at Service Canada and they refused to give me an appointment back in January. Thankfully I had no issues!

I am still waiting for a call back for an appt so we shall see....if I don't hear back in a reasonable amount of time I might just send it by courier. Sigh.

Hopefully they are as quick to return the call as they were for me. It was a day or two before I got my call if I remember correctly.

Still no call back from Service Canada 😈😈 If I don't hear back by Wednesday I'm just going to send it by Purolator.

Sent by Canada Post registered mail Feb 20th. Arrived Feb 22nd. Passport arrived today, Mar 18th.

What is the correct address if you are mailing the passport in (not courier, but Canada Post)?
The address on the envelope you get when filling out the forms is:
Passport Program
NO STREET ADDRESS
Gatineau blah blah blah

But when I look on line, the address given for mailing (again, different from courier) is:
Government of Canada
Passport Program
Box 4000 STN LCD 3
Mississauga, Ontario L5K 0A9

Does anyone recall which address they used? Thank you!
