New Park Tickets Announced for 2005 - "Magic Your Way"

So much for simplicity and their hallmark reputation for tickets being good until used.

if you ask me this is quite simple, and all the old tickets will still be honored.

They still offertickets which do not expire in this set up!!!!!!!

I agree. I really think these tickets are great for Diney fanatics...like all of us!

If you don't like to hop, save a little money.

If you don't want your ticket to expire, buy it that way.

It will best benefit people who plan I think but what part of a Disney trip isn't better if you plan.

I'm not missing the point. Especially for AAA members who live in Georgia/Tenn or who can buy an online Hopper the old ticket may be perfectable viable and cheaper for what they will use. Example...a six day plus pass will cost me $288 online but under the new system will cost me $321. I get an extra plus day and access to DQ for the difference but if I don't need that then buying the old hopper would be better.

Old six day plus is best equivalent to a new six day plus premium hopper no expire.

The old 5-day is $245. tax included with the options of park hopping & not expiring included. It seems that in breaking the ticket down into more choices Dis is simply charging more. Realistically how many people who stay more than 4 days will not park hop & people would not want to waste a day so they will buy the no expir feature. We always bought more days than we needed because prices always went up & we could use the left over days at the old rate. Right now we have 4 passes w/3 days left on each. Coporates at Dis must sit round all day trying to figure out how to squeeze every dollar out of us.

You are leaving out a lot of WDW vactioners with your definition of "typical". Before becoming members, we still bought APs even though we do not live close to WDW. I would not disclude AP holders from a list of typical WDW vactioners. Even before we bought APs the first time, we always had some type of hopper pass whether it was a true hopper or length of stay. Of course, this is just my opinion...I could be wrong.

I used the word "typical" somewhat tongue.in.cheek, just as a reminder that there is a vast majority of WDW guests who either book through Disney and buy LOS passes or who stay off-site and buy multi-day and/or hopper passes. We've heard from a pretty reliable source (the voices in my head ) that less than 15% of DVCers buy APs - I have to guess that the rate for everyone else is even lower....

I think this would work great for us. I figured out that the old 5 day PH was $230/Adult now the new Magic your Way 6 day PH with expiration would be $222. For our trip this summer we still have two plusses from old tickets so we could use them up.

It would seem worth it to buy these in advance for greater savings.

I just posted on the community board, but will add my 2 cents here. It doesn't work for us. We always buy in advance at the Disney store for $235 including tax. No expiration and hop away. According to mousesavers it will cost $221 for a 5 day with hopping and to add no expiration will bring it up to $256 before tax. We don't use options, but love having flexibility to hop or to decide not to use a day and save it for the next trip. I guess this just means you have to pay more for flexibility. I'm sure this new ticketing system will work out for some, but it will cost me money and I'm not pleased about that!

I think some figures are being thrown out loosely here. The current price of a discounted 5 day hopper is about $245. The new tickets will be $228 plus tax with hopping and $263 plus tax with nonexpiration and hopping. Add the usual price increase to the current tickets and those tickets probably would have been in the $260 range some time this coming year any way. I think the new system forces people to think and to pay for the advantages they want with the passes. I did notice that the nonexpiration feature is extra high for the 10 day passes (you pay $15 a day to buy nonexpiration for the eighth, ninth, and tenth days according to the chart I saw!)

What happens to hoppers with days on that we have left. Also can we buy the 5 day park hopper tickets until the new tickets come out. I like that the old ones never expired. Now you would have to plan ahead on what you need or take the no expiration option. Sounds confusing.

To the person that was concerned about one day passes not being valid anymore, that small blurb you linked to only mentioned those sold this month now that the new cost structure has been released. They will expire when it becomes valid. Other than that, your old park hoppers with days left on them are good until used up. I saw on another board that Disney will continue to sell Drearmaker packages for 2005 if you call through the end of this month, so they are obviously going to have to have allowances for other types of programs or old tickets.

This wont apply to us (we are AP holders) as we will use the DVC discount and get new APs in January or on our next trip. However, if we were not getting the DVC discount, I would definately use those plans to get the best ticket price for us. I have two small children (2 and 4) and add ons are a waste. We park hop now, but could certainly do with a lesson in slowing down and only doing one park a day or else pay the money and upgrade.

This seems complicated at first glance, but I am sure that 90% or more of the reservations will include all of these decisions before someone arrives, so I bet the slowdown at check-in will be no more so than the confussion that is already there for some.

I figured something had to be up when the dream maker packages went through the roof and it was cheaper to buy a la cart for a 5 night trip in December that I helped a friend purchase.
