New Park Tickets Announced for 2005 - "Magic Your Way"

I think I like this! Yes, it is amazingly complex. But, it provides options for just about everyone to save money and to take a vacation of any desired length with personally decided custom options to fit your needs. When combined with the DVC discount on annual passes, this offers tremendous options. The thing I like is that a family could go to the parks (one park only per day) for 7 days for less than $30 per person per day! That is a great deal for someone who is willing to go to one park per day and doesn't care about expiration. It's not a DVC discount, but I don't really care about that. Disney has really tried to make things affordable, I think.

Expiration doesnt even come into play if you add the "no experation option on"

10 day ticket w no experation for 309

A family of 4 will now have to pay an extra $140 to upgrade their tickets to "hoppers". For some, this might spell the end of park-hopping. I wonder, will this discourage people from entering certain parks? For instance, AK closes much earlier than the other parks, so might people who haven't paid for the hopper upgrade simply forego AK? Or how does this affect folks who might spend the day in one park and then head off to see Wishes/Illuminations/Fantasmic in another? Will people be willing to pay for the hopper upgrade? I don't know, just throwing it out there.

I'm wondering if we'll get a DVC discount if this replaces UPH as well.

Also explaining the Fl discounts is gonna be weird too.

Jillpie! Hey, if you're doing 6 days, you'll likely break even with the regular AP after DVC discount, plus you'll get the AP discounts.

Yeah, I'm with many other posters here, they really are making thing even more confusing. But then again, confused ppl often buy more than they need to, resulting in a healthier bottom line, I'd imagine; now Disney will just need to hope the the confusion doesn't drive folks away. Hey more choices should be a good thing, right?

I really dont see the confusion at all here. More options doesnt mean more confusion. Just means more choices for everyone which is GREAT!

But, you won't be able to park hop.

I'm really gonna have to sit down with a calculator and figure this all out. I still have two more trips on my current AP so I have awhile to think about it. I am too used to park hopping to give up that option. Is it better to buy 10 days with no expiration? Or two 5 days with expiration? Decisions, decisions...

With many of us DVCers planning so far out we'll all really have to give this alot of thought as to what is our best option. Many of us are looking at several vacations instead of those visiting just once.

Maybe I'm confused but it seems a 7-day Hopper with everything is only $10 per day more with the addition of an extra day AND Disney Quest. But I wonder if the plus passes expire?

I'm beginning to think Disney put its price increases through on the backs of the people who only want short stay tickets. For many a 7 day hopper is purchased with a future trip in mind.

But if you look at the prices, this really won't be much more than what 4 day hoppers cost now. The family would just be saving money if they decided not to park hop.

I wonder if Shades of Green can get on this too, and make it somehow even cheaper?(no tax)
any ideas? :scratchin

Its not really an "extra" $140 though, the base price of the tickets is lower than what the hoppers are now. So you cant think of it as paying extra, you have to look at it like you now have the option of saving the $140 if your family doenst park hop

Sure they give you more savings for the longer passes, I think its pretty clear they would love everyone to buy longer passes now and come back again and spend another 3,4 5 days or whatever in the hotels, and on food and drinks in the parks, and on souvenirs and etc.

no no hopping, BUT for the flat rate of $35 you can add that on. And now I can pay the $344 for this ticket:

10 days, no expiration, and park hopping. Its well worth it if i cant visit twice within the year and make use of the annual pass for the 300 or so.

True, if you buy the 7 day ticket, the price looks pretty good. But if you can't stay for, or use 7 days on your trip, then you have to add in the no-expire option - ka-ching. ( The family of 4 just spent $220 to do this ) The $140 extra for the family of 4 applies to any length ticket from 1 to whatever days. So if you buy the 4 or 5 day packages ( Sun-Thurs stays ring any bells? ), I don't think you save anything at all and in fact end up spending more if you add the hopper options. Obviously if you don't want to hop anyway, it's a good deal. I was just wondering if most people will pay for the hopping option or just give it up.

definately the 10 with no expiration, look at that chart and notice the price BARELY goes up w the increase in days.

4: $185.00
5: $193.00
6: $196.00
7 $199.00
10 $209.00

2 5 days w expiration & hopping seems to be about: 456
1 10 day no expiration & hopping: 344

We will pass on the hopping option and we stay Sun to Thursday and leave for the weekends and come back on the following Sunday. This new ticket makes great use of our time at WDW. As when we leave the DVC resort on the weekend we usually go to the All Stars and we will also be now using Pop Century.

Well I can say that I am both pleased and dissapointed with this new ticket. Pleased because it will probably suit us better, but dissapointed with the fact that with it we will no longer be able to hop to the water parks/ disney quest like we did with the LOS pass. I liked having unlimited access to DQ and being able to go to one water park in the morning and another in the afternoon. Since DH and I will be getting the PAPs we wont have a problem, but this kinda messes up my plans for the rest of the family. Oh well though, cheaper tickets for the parents will be a good thing since they dont hop or go to water parks

Bottom line
It provides more options to fit in anyone’s needs.

This begs the question "How many non-DVCers park hop?" Most of the people I know who are "typical" WDW vactioners (i.e. don't know about DIS or MouseSavers, don't buy APs, don't have the Early Morning Park for each day memorized) do the "one park, one day" thing. Head out in the morning and stay as late into the evening as possible then head to the room and collapse. This might actually be a savings for folks like them....

sjdisneywedding, wow.

Buying the 10 day with the added park hopping and no expiration is the way to go. Why wodul you buy any less days???
Now, we'd have to figure out if the DVC AP is better or not. Difference will be about 40 or so less for the AP. I still think we'll at least go two 5 day trips in a year. APs still better I think for us if all goes as planned...

Think our old plus options we have saved up over the years will still be honored for the water parks?
