New Park Tickets Announced for 2005 - "Magic Your Way"

This begs the question "How many non-DVCers park hop?" Most of the people I know who are "typical" WDW vactioners (i.e. don't know about DIS or MouseSavers, don't buy APs, don't have the Early Morning Park for each day memorized) do the "one park, one day" thing. Head out in the morning and stay as late into the evening as possible then head to the room and collapse. This might actually be a savings for folks like them....

I don't know DrT. I can't believe all of the people streaming into MK at night for Wishes or Epcot for Illuminations are all DVC members.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely like this new pricing structure because it DOES provide a bit of flexibility. My only point is whether park hopping is important enough for people to pay extra for or not. I admit I don't know the answer to this and am interested in what people think about this.

Dr Tomorrow that is us to a T we never use the EE aka Extra magic hour we avoid that park that day we have only 2 times in 10 trips hopped and we go from 9 AM till close pretty much.

We have park hopped on every trip except our first in 1980.....there one only one park then! :rotfl:

We started buying APs years before we discovered the DIS or Mousesavers and long before buying DVC for that matter.

I think there are lots of folks like us.....long time WDW folks who figured it out on our own through the years.

I think we will probably be buying the new tickets for our daughter once her AP expires and will most likely fork out the extra for park hopping. Can't imagine not having that flexibility.

Okay, I'm looking at the chart at ALL ears, and it looks like the daily price difference after the 4 day ticket goes up very little. Soooo, if you were only going to the parks 4 or 5 days, why not just buy a 7 day without hopping priviledges, and use 2 days of tickets on the day where you would like to visit 2 parks. That way you could park hop on 3 of the 4 days. Does this make sense? It comes out cheaper than adding the hopper priviledge. I also wonder whether or not DVC owners will get any kind of discount on this pass, since it replaces the Length of Stay( or whatever they are calling it this week). Just thinking out loud.

ErinC, someone asked about this on a different forum...resorts or theme parks... and Safari Steve who is a CM said you will not be able to do that.

You are leaving out a lot of WDW vactioners with your definition of "typical". Before becoming members, we still bought APs even though we do not live close to WDW. I would not disclude AP holders from a list of typical WDW vactioners. Even before we bought APs the first time, we always had some type of hopper pass whether it was a true hopper or length of stay. Of course, this is just my opinion...I could be wrong.

that's true, they could just easily allow you only one park per day UNLESS you added the hopper feature...

yikes

Someone was talking about the dining addon but as I read it that is only for those who buy the basic "package" which includes tickets and room. So AP holders and DVCers staying on points still don't have a dining option. Right?

I wish that we did!

I don't know if this point has been brought up since I didn't want to read through 5 pages of posts. Right now DVC members receive 10% off UPH tickets when buying them in person at the parks. This will be going away to make way for the new ticket system. My question is this: Will we get any kind of discount comparable to that UPH discount if we get our tickets when we arrive at the resort? Yeah we are getting the AP discount and I was going to buy an AP for my March trip, but now since I will only need a 6 day ticket and I don't know for sure if I will be back within that year to get my money's worth. Anyone have any insight to this?

Thanks

Jon

Well I can say that I am both pleased and dissapointed with this new ticket. Pleased because it will probably suit us better, but dissapointed with the fact that with it we will no longer be able to hop to the water parks/ disney quest like we did with the LOS pass. I liked having unlimited access to DQ and being able to go to one water park in the morning and another in the afternoon. Since DH and I will be getting the PAPs we wont have a problem, but this kinda messes up my plans for the rest of the family. Oh well though, cheaper tickets for the parents will be a good thing since they dont hop or go to water parks

Yes but you can add on the plus options with these new tickets and you can hop all day long if you add that on as well. I just see so much more flexibility with these.

At first read, I really like this new system...for both guests and Disney. :)

I wonder how this change will affect 3rd party ticket resellers?

umm doesnt really make sense to do this, just pay the flat rate of $35 and make every one of your ticket days hoppers. for 35 on the basic 7 day pass, you now have a 7 day hopper, nothing wrong with that

again not extra! the base rate has gone down

new 7 day park hopper plus w no expiration: about 334

current 7 day park hopper plus: about 336

also looks like new version has 5 plus visits compared to 4

this isnt about having to pay more for hopping priviledges, its about having the optiuon to pay LESS if you do not want to hop.

and even less still if you do not need 'no expiration"

I agree. More flexible for guests and I would think it would help WDW's bottom line by encouraging people to buy longer passes...and of course more meals, souvenirs, etc..
:D

I don't know anyone who did one day at a time as a matter of course unless it was their first visit. After two trips to Disney Hoppers/LOS/UPH makes the most sense. I guess one park only might work for people with small children.

Hoppers remain buyable until January 1st so for anyone who wants one now is the hour.

ok

heres 2 breakouts

new 7 day hopper plus(expires): $280
current 7 UPH(lenght of stay): $347

new 10 day hopper plus(expires): $289
current 10 day UPH(lenght of stay): $436

how can anyone argue with these numbers?

So much for simplicity and their hallmark reputation for tickets being good until used.
