I haven't found much information about what exactly the new feature pool is going to be like. I understand the measurements of the different features and the pool itself, but can someone compare it all for me?

The pool itself isn't going to be as big as High Rock Springs (I think I read 3/4 size) and I can visualize that.

How about the slide? What would it be compared it? It looks pretty tall from the artist rendering. What other pool on Disney property could it be compared to?

I've not seen any specifics (other than the rendering) and brief description from DVC. From the drawing, the top of the silo (slide tower) is about 3 stories tall.
I think the OKW sand castle is about the same size of slide they are depicting. It has 2 complete turns on the drawing

I know this will not be popular with some but based on the no pool hopping at AKV, BLT, and BCV, does anyone else feel that after this pool opens, that SSR needs to be added to the no hopping list.

Honestly I think it would only be fair. Personally I don't think it is fair to have some pools open to hoping and others restricted. I think if they are going to limit AKV, BLT and BCV, they should limit all of them.

Even worse, my concern is all those parking at DD and taking SSR buses will be tempted by this pool.

Pool hopping is only allowed to DVC members with a blue DVC member card. Not cash guests, not dtd visitors.
Now, we know some non-dvc members abuse that lack of enforcement, but I don't think other DVC members would overrun SSR and enforcing exiting policies should do OK

Thanks so much for the links of the close-ups. I have a hard time visualizing sometimes.

I spent time in a hot tub late one evening with crashers. I was a little surprised as the conversation eventually got around to who they were and how easy it is to take advantage of the Disney easy going rules for any of the facilities in The World. They scoffed at those of us that actually pay for the privileges! (left their beer bottles on the deck, too)

I don't think you will see them implement it and I am not sure why they even felt the need to do so at AKV (honestly, it is NOT the pool that would draw people...but people wanting to see the animals, etc and maybe use the pool as a day trip type thing). While SSR and every other resort experiences these pool crashers, only BCV attempts to stop them in any meaningful way and even that is only partially effective. The cost of extra personnel is too much to put them in place to try to stop the people from coming and honestly the times that I have used the pools at SSR I haven't seen it so congested to suggest that it was that way for any reason other than the number of guests at SSR vs the size of the pool. I am not a big fan of WDW making rules to say they made the rule, then not enforcing it, just so the next complaint is that they aren't enforcing said rule.....LOL

Getting back to the topic at hand, before we stray too off topic.

How far of a walk is the Paddock area where the new pool is going to be to the main building/boat dock? How is the walk to DTD?

We stayed in the Grandstands (one of the back buildings) during our last trip so I do have something to compare it to.

Does anyone know if work has started on the pool? Last thread I read about it, stated work hadn't started yet. Granted that was a while back. Seems if it's to open this spring they should be getting close.

I'll be at the world tomorrow and will take pics if we drive by.

Oops, I must've been sleepy when I typed that. It's actually be 2 weeks before I'm there, . . . . . . .

You were not asleep; it was the phase shift that happens when one gets close to The World experience! Things just seem to drift by, slide in and out, etc, etc.

Enjoy the thrill of the build-up and the drum beat you hear as the trip gets closer!

I hope that the food selection at the new Paddock is better than the Artist Palette. Maybe will will also be quicker to get food too.
