New Orleans needs to learn a lot from Port Canaveral.

Took inaugural cruise this past week out of New Orleans. Made us wait 2 hours outside, yes it was 32 degrees outside. It was a nightmare of people waiting to get on and people trying to get off. Cast member kept changing their minds where we should stand (really no room to stand). Once we get inside building, they just didn’t know what to do with us (this was our 21st Disney Cruise). Security, didn’t know if they should take my husband’s C-pap machine apart or let it go thru. Then it was time to go into the room to check in. Room set up with tons of folding chairs. Noticed cast members were walking around trying to get guests to fill out medical form (scary right now with this virus). Our check in person did not page thru our passport to see if we traveled to China recently but remembered the medical form. Our friends were checking in next to us and we’re given platinum lanyards and boarding 1...this was only their 3rd cruise, they were happy, lol. It took a very long time to get on ship and when we did, had to walk thru where they were taking pictures, had to wait till they were done snapping pictures. Concierge was allowed on first, that took a long while. The biggest disappointment was when the ship left late. We really wanted to watch the sail out (first seating), actually went into dining room, introduced ourselves to serving team and then left to watch sail out. There was no place to get food so we had our first meal with room service with friends, it was actually fun. Plus it was very, very cold so nice to warm up.
Then the cruise began, LOVE Disney cruising, from then on nothing can go wrong.
For the first time in 21 cruises, did the express walk off...have no idea had the debarkation went for others but ours was great.
spent a day in New Orleans...happy Disney is doing new ports. We are from Florida and will definitely do this cruise again.
Even with the unorganized embarkation, we will never sail another line...planning to sail many more in the future.

I mean there is a really big difference between sailing out of a port for the first time and sailing out of a port where you have a permanent terminal. We sail on the last cruise out of NOLA (the wbpc) for the season so I’m hoping they’ll have gotten some kinks out.

It’s Disney, I’m sure they will. Would sail out of New Orleans again in a heartbeat. It will get better, I’m sure. Just spoiled by Port Canaveral. But, that will soon be changed too I’m sure when they start renovating the present building.
