New-Old Tripod

This past weekend we were out shopping and stopped by a thrift shop to get DS some knockarounds to were to summer football practice. While he was looking for "cool" t-shirts I found an old tripod that worked perfectly and was very sturdy. It seemed like a deal for $5 so I bought it. It is a Star D Conquest by Davidson. The tripod has good weight to it and is very sturdy. To extend the legs you have to twist them, pull them out, and then twist again to lock. I don't know much about this tripod... when it was made, are they known to be good tripods etc. Anyone have any info?

I have nearly the same tripod! It's as sturdy as a mack truck! I'll check tomorrow to see which model mine is. It weighs a ton but makes a decent hiking stick for any hiking you do with your camera gear!
