*** New Official February 2013 Thread ***

Sure, unless they're just removing things! I don't think ribs every go out of season :lmao:
Yes, but other things do go in and out of season and ribs can be put onto the menu when more seasonal items cannot be. I have talked with a lot of the chefs at Disney though and they have always said to me how interesting the job is when they can offer something new so I think a lot of the changes we see on a lot of the menus are the chefs being creative professionals and enjoying a job they love.

We're officially under two months!

Time is flying by and everything is falling into place. Now if only that darn Dessert Party starting accepting February booking! :hyper:

I rarely write and am mostly a lurker, but couldn't help myself.

My DF and I will be in the world from 2/2 to 2/10 for our well deserved honeymoon .

We will be staying at Pop. This is the second time we are staying there and I would have loved to have upgraded to a moderate but the funds will just not be there after we spend everything we own on the wedding!

We have too many ADRs since we are on the DxDP, but we are trying BOG and going back to a few favorites.

57 days and counting!!!!!

Congrats!!! Magical wishes to you both. My DD23 and DF25 will be Disneymooning at the same time at POP. They arrive on the 3rd and stay to the 14th. Same plan - stay at a value, spend less and play longer. She is a regular and he hasn't been since he was a child (once). Fun, fun, fun!

We passed that point less than ten minutes ago. :)

I'm doing a lot more planning this time than in previous years. I think it is because we're not visiting the parks, and we're taking the Auto Train. We've been to the parks so many times that when we would fly down we just make airline reservations and dining reservations and then don't think about our vacation until the day before. We relied on Magical Express and that we'll always find things to do.

It's been interesting researching other attractions around Orlando. We did a week visiting Universal once, but that's almost like visiting Disney. Just go and see what there is to do when you get there. With local attractions, it is a lot of trying to figure out if it is worthwhile. For example, we're considering visiting the Brevard Zoo while we're down there, because it is close to family, but it looks pretty small. Like I mentioned earlier we found Bok Tower Gardens and we're going there. It seems very nice.

And while a lot of people talk about going off site for meals to save money it has been a lot of work for me to research restaurants. There isn't as much information about restaurants near the Brevard Zoo or Bok Tower Gardens as there is about Disney restaurants.

We have taken the Auto Train before but didn't plan on things like stops along the way. We live too far away to drive from home to the station, so we have to stay overnight along the way. That gives us extra time on both days of the drive. This time we want to take more advantage of the time and so we're planning the drive so we reach a certain point at lunchtime so we can have lunch on campus with our niece. On the second day we will reach Washington in time to visit at least one site so we're picking one out. And instead of having M&Ms for lunch sitting in the train station we're looking for a good place to have lunch before we check in.

We usually had morning ADRs to make. Our first day we left an hour early because we had no idea where we were going:rotfl2:

It's maybe a 15 - 20 minute drive anywhere from the resort, and then budget a small amount of time to get from your car. We probably could have left 45 minutes before parking opening and been there with time to spare. Maybe even less than 45 min

You could always try it both ways and see which one works out better. We liked going to our car after parks though instead of waiting for a bus as well.

Thanks never considered driving, to avoid waiting for bus, i think we will.

Wow, I often wondered if our thread would hit over a 1000 replies and we surpassed that before Christmas!!

OK the fight over the resort is over (I lost :sad1: ) We will be staying at Pop again. Our new dates are February 14-25th. I am still dealing with our ADRs since I had to overrule the QSDP. I want to sit and eat not have burgers everyday :rotfl2:

I'm with you on the desire to sit and eat and have a variety of meals. Flame Tree Bar-be-que in AK is my one must do CS. Last February it was warm enough to sit outside and enjoy that lunch. December 2010 we went with our warm back-up plan of TS at Yak & Yeti.

Can you use a TS credit at a counter service? We only have the QS meal plan this time but I may have bumped us up if that was the case.

Also, two Disney shows are coming to our area in January -- Beauty and the Beast Broadway show and Disney on Ice -- but it's in the middle of our 'pay all the yearly bills' streak so we'll have to miss out. So bummed. They would have been great enthusiasm boosters before our trip.

Hope your DD and her DF have fun! I know I will!!!! Sound like my last trip with DF. He hadn't been there since he was 6 and we had a blast. It was all new for him.

Looking forward to my own trip!
55 days left!

Called to pay my balance but forgot to give them my flight info. I was so excited to finally pay everything it just slipped my mind.

But the CM did say the Dessert Party might become available tomorrow. So heads up everyone!

We are all getting excited at our house! This is the only vacation we will do all year so the children really look forward to it, especially since we will be there on their actual birthdays :) Now if I could only get that elusive Be Our Guest ressie LOL regardless we have Ohanas booked and it's delicious!

We are staying at POR again, however last year our vehicle was broken into, trashed, and my daughter had her iPod stolen ON HER BIRTHDAY! It was horrible. Couldn't lock my truck until I got home and fixed it. So sad to wake up to while on vacation. We were parked against the building but in a secluded area behind the quiet pool in Magnolia Bayou area.

I am hoping my oldest can join us too, she will graduate college this week and unless she gets a job (hope so!) she will join us...yea! So proud of her, she is getting her BSN and worked so hard to be a semester early.

Later I will post and share our ADRs, I am "thinking" of trying Captain Cookes one morning for that infamous Tonga Toast, and definitely doing QS at Be Our Guest if no dinner ressie opens up.

Im doing good at keeping my excitement under control! I was happy to hear, though, last week my DH telling me HE was excited! he didnt even want to go in the first place but I twisted his arm. I got our new maps in the mail a few days ago, so now I have 2 copies, one to give to my sis (who is joining us for half our vacation along with her DH) for Xmas. I'm also getting her peppermint foot lotion since that is my favorite tip her on Disboards- use peppermint foot lotion every night on your tired feet!

Just bought our tickets last night so the final puzzle piece is in place. As our Chicago Bears will not likely make the Super Bowl, much less playoffs, DH suggested we get an extra day's ticket and explore the parks instead of watching the game on TV. As we've got two days in MK Nd one day in all other parks, I'm thinking about adding a half day at Epcot. I made my mind up about ADRs 6 months ago and now have another dinner choice to make!

Please don't get me started on the Bears. I might start crying. We have tickets for every day and have ADR's at Rose and Crown the night of the Super Bowl but if Chicago somehow makes it those will be canceled and I will be in my room.
