*** New Official February 2013 Thread ***

I did not mention, but we paid our trip in full, too! And we switched from LM to Lion King, because since it's a once in a lifetime trip for us, I want to enjoy the space. The 5 of us cramped in the LM room, I'll go mad.

And someone mentioned a facebook group?

Ok, are the DIS boards an addiction for anyone besides me? I can't get enough...

Has anyone attended the pirates and pals cruise? How was it? I'm thinking I may take DS10 and DS 4.

I am CONSTANTLY on the DIS. I don't even really have anything to plan or research. Just obsessed.

Addiction? Pfft. I can quit any time I want! Just let me check my subs, and the latest PTRs, and maybe the February 2013 thread again. :thumbsup2

Joining in on all the delightful nervous energy.

Me and my guy will be at the All Star Music from 2/1/13 to 2/7/13.

We are all about the parks, all the time. We are doing the QS dinning with the S/P/D, because you do have to eat sometimes. We haven't been to WDW since 2000, except for one quick day at EPCOT back in 2010. We were on a strategic strike/long weekend at US/IoA and did the 'Give a Day/Earn a Day' planting trees to get one day tickets.

So we are all kinds of excited to see what's new...to us anyway. Looking forward to bouncing off the walls with the rest of you, as our trips get closer.

Not sure why it hit me last night like it did. But I started second guessing my ENTIRE trip! Specifically I am/was thinking maybe we should change our 9 night AKL stay to a 5 night stay and go to another part of Florida for the other 4 nights. Not sure exactly WHY I'm thinking about it...partly to save money, and partly to see a different part of FLA than just WDW I guess. I know we are pretty much locked in to flying in and out of MCO, so we wouldn't be going "too" far from Disney maybe an hour's drive or so.

Is this even making sense to anyone else? Or am I just babbling! I just know that for the money we're spending...it seems like it would be nice to get 2 vacations in 1 out of it. Experience other parts of Florida...maybe find a warm beachy area?? I dunno..... HELP MY BRAIN!:scared1:

I guess a lot depends on how many times you've been to Disney and what you would like to do in the other parts of Florida. We have been to WDW a lot, so we find that five or six days is plenty of time for us to do what we want there, especially since February is a low crowd period and we can walk on so many rides. President's week would be an exception.

You could check out different vacation spots and see what might be fun. Kennedy Space Center might be interesting. Tampa Bay isn't too far.

The thing you need to do is price out what both scenarios cost: Remember to add in the costs for whatever you do for the 4 days away from AKL. Our experience is that the fact that a 9 day pass is basically the same as 5 day pass, means we always max our disney stay. You could look at adding a value resort with a room only code for the 4 days, keep your 5 days at AKL and buy a 9 day pass ....

We are doing 12 nights at POP and then 6 nights at AKL, all with a 10day park pass. AKL will be more about being in the resort and DTD.

I booked my vacation last week! So excited. Going with my boyfriend and my sisters. This will be my first trip since I was 4 and the first trip ever to WDW for my sisters. We'll be staying 2/2 - 2/8 at the Coronado Springs Resort with the s/p/d package. :D I've got all my ADRs so far except for BOG...I would LOVE to get an ADR there and will be checking everyday (if I can remember, lol). Feburary can't get here quick enough!

How exciting that you and your sisters will get to experience Disney for the first time together (a lot has changed since you were ther I am sure)! Hoping you get a BOG ressie! :)

For all of you hoping for cold weather, I am sure it will be freezing the week of 2/2 because I am going! The past 2 times we went, the weather was unseasonably cold and hot! We went Dec 2010 and it was in the 20s at night. Then we went end of Sept. 2011 and it was 90s all week. The day we were leaving it went back to the 70's. Everyone that lives there said it is never that hot that time of year. I seem to always get the extremes! :confused3 Hoping it isnt too cold because I dont want to have to bundle up all the kids after every indoor attraction again like I did in December!

For us, it is really about vacation not about the place we're going to. We may someday take a trip to see Old Faithful or Paris or maybe some place even more exotic, and that would be a trip to see and do those things, but a trip to the beach or to Disney is a vacation to have fun or relax, depending if the kids are with us. I would find the idea of going somewhere other than Disney during a Disney vacation to be more work than is worth it during a fun or relaxing vacation.

I hope I am doing this multi quote thing right!! :lmao:

These boards are totally addicting to me, especially reading the Trip and Dining reports I love them. In fact I am so addicted I am on here now while at work ;)

I agree with PP that said to price it out and compare and see what you would prefer... I can give you a suggestion that is not too far from WDW incase you decide that is what you would like to do. On the gulf side there is a beach area called Treasure Island. My parents took my boys there a couple years ago and they had a fantastic time. There were a lot of fun things to do with the kids plus the beach. I think it was only an hour or 2 from WDW.

I am hoping that you will bring the unseasonably warm weather instead of the cold. Not so much for myself but for my mother, She was hesitant to go to WDW because she prefers to spend her vacation in more tropical warm locations but me and my Dad talked her into to it so if it's freezing we'll never hear the end of it :rotfl2:

There are other places in FL besides WDW?! I'm kidding of course. I agree with a PP That it may be more work than its worth. For me, Disney is the perfect vacation, even when not going to parks every day.

I have this same syndrome!!!! At least we are going different weeks to balance each other!! Ha

This is making perfect sense. There's so much a family could do on and off Disney! When I was a kid we would stay with family and go to Disney for three days (this was before AK opened) then spend the rest of the week going to a mix of Bach Tower, Universal, Cypress Gardens (now Legoland?), Busch Gardens in Tampa (easily a day trip), St. Augustine or Kennedy Space Center. You know what your family enjoys and how well you can stretch a dollar for the best possible vacation.

There's tons to do in Florida outside Disney! We would go stir crazy just doing that.

There's Wonderworks, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Kennedy Space Center, lots of mini golf places, lots of shopping/outlets, Legoland, Gatorland, balloon rides, segway tours, Winter Park, Boggy Creek, tons of stuff! And you can find coupons for a lot of stuff in practically any restaurant in the tourist area!

I bought my plane tickets today and saved a lot of money waiting a just a little longer. Everything seems more real now, I have the biggest grin on my face. Oh and I'm making my final payment tomorrow :goodvibes

I love the feeling of everything falling into place!
