New October Thread

We do not have our dates for sure yet we were looking at the 11th to the 17th but we are not sure now because of the school breaks.

Any way it will be me and my hubby our 2 yr and 4 yr I am very excited love Disneyland at Halloween time.

Wow Molly...you leave so soon! Do You have everything packed? Are you taking snacks from home with You?

Oh i changed my costume..again:rotfl: ...i'm going to be the Blue Fairy!

We'll be bringing some snacks, yeppers. I went and bought some 1oz packs of nutella (we were considering doing carryon only, so they'd be in the 311 baggie), as a replacement for the frosting for cookie decorating...but people are saying there's NO cookie decorating! Frustrating!

Blue Fairy is just perfect for you. I can absolutely imagine it!

OH, and no, we're not packed yet. I don't even have any lists! Hubby and I are so limited with clothing that we pretty much just bring what we own, LOL...

And we're still considering, b/c my guys want to do it, some fun t-shirts. mnmrmustard might very well be hearing from me!

Only problem is....I don't have an iron! It disappeared at some point in one of our last two moves...for the Diva trip I had to take my Tink iron-on to the dry cleaners and pay $7 for them to iron it on (and they did an awful job). Though I did just notice that the Grand has an iron and board...

Forgot to update....DD and I are confirmed for Oct 8-13 at HoJo, and we're doing the Trick-or-Treat Party too!

Oh, fairykin, your dress is just so beautiful!! Be sure to post a picture with you wearing it!

I was at Disneyland the last two days, and I want to give a warning about the new Ghost Galaxy (Space Mountain). GG is a very very scary ride and not for the faint of heart. I know SM like the back of my hand and I GOT SCARED! It was great and I loved it, but I wouldn't recommend it for 10 maybe 11 and under! I rode it at least three times and then said enough. My DDs (14 and 11 soon to be 12) rode it 5 times. They loved it. They did say that one time before they boarded, they saw three kids come off the ride crying. They were the ones that recommended for 12 and up.

The Halloween Time decor was great. I took some pics of some of the pumpkins for inspiration when I crave my pumpkins this month. I saw the fireworks show from It's a Small World; the castle area was packed at 8pm. I think the show was shortened. There were announcements, threatening to cancel the fireworks due to high winds. What was shown was great and I look forward to seeing it again. I do plan on sitting at the castle when I go later this month. That is all I will say about that! I don't want to spoil it too much!

Funatdisney, thanks for the info on Ghost Galaxy. I have been looking for kids/teens opinions on Ghost Galaxy. I think I will be taking DS13 and DD10 (who isn't afraid of anything) on and leaving the 7 and 4 year olds off!

My AAA agent called and said my docs will come FedEx on Thursday. I am beyond excited at this point. Hidden Mickeys? Bah! Everything seems to have some relationship with Disney right now...

LOVE your costume dawn!! You are going to look GORGEOUS!!

We are going to have SO much fun!! I can't wait to see everyone in their costumes!

Did I hear right they aren't doing the cookie decorating in Big Thunder Ranch this year?

My kids will be SO dissapointed. They LOVE that!

You're welcome, PHXscuba! You are on the right track; the 7 and 4 year old will not be able to handle it. The 13 and the 10 year old will just love it.

I would recommend that if anyone is unsure about GG and your kids handling it, I would ride GG first to judge whether your youngster would be able to handle it.

Oh I can tell you right now there is NO WAY my 9 year old is skipping this ride. LOL And it's highly doubtful she'll get off crying, in fact she'll get off screaming "let's do it again!" LOL She's fearless and she loves scary rides. We were going to watch this on youtube the other day, SHE stopped me because she wants to see it on the ride for the first time. I warned her I'd heard it was scary and she laughed at me. LOL I appreciate the warning tho...I might be too scared! LOL :)

Why not watch it with your younger kids on youtube?

I have conflicted feelings about watching ride videos on YouTube.

First, I do like a little surprise in my life, and I've overplanned so much of this trip already I need a few things to anticipate! Second, I worry that if they see the video and dislike it, there will be no coaxing them on the ride at all. Whereas if I have ridden something (maybe not GG in this instance), tell them it's OK, and soothe whatever their personal fears are (speed, ghosts, height, etc.), they might be willing to have faith and try it for themselves. I'm afraid the video might be an unfair trial, that they would nix something I think they would try once. My DD7 rode Space Mountain 2.5 years ago, barely tall enough. She's pretty brave about coasters, but not scary stuff.

So we'll parent swap -- I'll ride with the older 2 kids, then DH can ride, with whoever we decide. We'll have 6 FPs, we can do some mix/matching.

That's another thing, get your fast passes in the morning to be sure to get them. Depending on the crowd level, FP will run out around noon or just after.
The reason we got to ride so much was because we took advantage of Magic Morning on Sunday, and, on Monday, I gave my girls mine and DH's FPs.

O.K O.K. :) my warning can be ignored by those great parents who know their children very well. I was just floored by the ride, and BTW, it gets scarier the more you ride it. The story and the music and the effects are heighten each time you go on. That's is why I gave my FP to DDs. They couldn't get enough of it! I can wait another 4 weeks to ride it again! (And I will.)

Someone on mouseplanet went in the area and checked it out, and said there's no cookie decorating. I didn't ask if they really went ALL the way back in there...the arts/crafts are over in the petting zoo area now, and they didn't say if they went back in that area or not. I'm still holding out hope, b/c the pictures on the Halloweentime section show the *boxes* that they used for the cookies...but of course we all know that the website lies sometimes.

Thanks Molly! I hope you are right and maybe they just hadn't brought them out yet since it isn't even Oct yet! I know that was a VERY popular thing every time we went in the past. Even at Christmas. I know I always LOVED going into Thunder Ranch for that and seeing all the Halloween/Christmas decs and merchandise that you could buy over buy the cookies. I SURE hope that they still have it SOMEWHERE. I know that one year they did the cookies up by the firehouse. Maybe they moved them or something. I know my kids LOVE it and would be SO dissapointed. They have already told me they wanted to do it on our trip. :(

Is yours one of the PMs I haven't looked at yet? :lmao: Hey yeah - if all else fails you can have them printed out and iron them on fresh at the parks! Just don't forget to bring the blank T-shirts ;)

Thank you very much for the ride and decoration updates. I hope the Santa Anas leave us alone while we are there so we can see those fireworks! Looks like they are going to run at 9:25pm on Thursday - Monday and 8:40pm Tuesday and Wednesday nights

I just got our package in from AAA (check out my PTR if you want to see what it looks like). I love all of the extras they put in there and the luggage tags rock!

Hey All DISers planning to attend Mickey's Trick or Treat Party on Thursday, October 15th! I'm going to be there with my DSLR and was wondering if any of y'all wanted to get together for a quick picture?! :yay:

Nothing complicated, just meet at a particular place in CA at maybe 7:30pm and snap a few pics. I would post the group pic on the October Group TR and on my TR and also add in a link for a hi-res version for y'all to download and print off :thumbsup2

whatcha think? :confused3 :)

Kelly, ya know, I keep seeing a listing on allears for a decoratable castle cookie over at the PFF food stand. I'm not even sure that that food area is open anymore, and I don't know if allears is just totally wrong, but if you're in the general area, you could always check it out.

mnmr (mrmn?), I haven't PMd you. Gotta decide first! :) Plus, my guys don't have screen names, so I haven't even thought about what I might put down..."bumberson" just doesn't sound right. :)

I'm so excited, my dress was delivered before I left for work today!! It looks so cute!! And I figured out the gold accents too so I just gotta figure out the hair and the sash and I'm good to go! YAY!!!!
