Elaborate on the kiosks... If anyone pleases?

I hadn't thought/heard of this before.

(To be fair...I only recently paid it any attention though because it hasn't been picked up on the radar yet)

They are stands that have the Mickey head tap point on them. Many are located next to standard FP machines around the parks. They only function for that day and for that park. So if I was in the MK on a Tuesday...those are the only FP+ slots that I can deal with at a kiosk. They are designed to move quickly. They actually function the way the app should IMO.

We just returned from our trip and I have to say I never noticed one of those kiosks anywhere. Of course I did not go out of my way to find them, but they must not be too obvious.

We do not have smartphones that can run the MDE App, but I have an Ipod Touch. I have to say, that was the best thing to have with me this trip with the free wifi. We needed to change things and replan things all the time and I cannot imagine having to find the kiosks. And if they are as the above poster said, only for that day in that park....:scared1: That would have been horrible.

We were able to change FP+ selections for the next day with the app with no problems, even headliners. Changing the day of for headliners (even early morning)...nope, no times available. We were able to change the others with no problems even minutes before. FP+ for BOG was great, we did that several times on site. Very easy to get another one for later in your trip. We had no problems with MB for FP+, even just walked to something else when Space Mountain went down and scanned with no problems. Just told them that SM was down and we wanted to use our FP+ at that ride. No problems getting FP- legacy paper at all, no comments or trouble etc. We did not do that much as wait times were very low for most anyways, but a few times it was needed or better planned out that way to save touring time.

DH's Magic Band did give him problems on park entry a few times, nothing major but had to try and retry to get the green go ahead. One time they had to scan his KTTW card. I never had this problem but it didn't seem to like DH's. We learned by the end of the trip a trick to that. If you just tap your magic band on the mickey head and it turns white and starts to spin, you do not have to wait for it to spin spin spin and turn totally white to then put your finger on the scanner. If you tap your MB, have it just start spinning white, then put your finger on the scanner, boom = green. After we figured that out, his MB would work first time. :wizard:

Nice tips, thank you! :goodvibes

Just got an email that our magic bands are in the mail! 28 days and counting! Come on Disney birthday vacation!!

When you purchase tickets upon check-in and get MB, does concierge assist you with making FP+ selections? Or is there a kiosk that you can use at the resort?

I am here this week at a conference, so purchased a ticket the day before use. The CSR concierge made my FP+ selections for me and for my work colleague who was purchasing his ticket at the next CM down. She printed out our selections too. Very quick and easy to get the FPs taken care of.

When I was the Pop last month, the concierge desk was very helpful in making FP+ for my party (we had some issues with tickets and FPs going missing). They were very patient and worked through the FPs with me several times. :)

Excited for you. My dates are Dec 9-13. Hopefully I'll have mine next Monday.

Dec2-9 and got mine today too! Was a nice surprise to find them here when I got home from work!! Counting down the days!

Jealous. We arrive Nov. 30, but because we don't live in the US we don't get ours shipped to us and have to wait until we get to the resort. Actually it's not a huge deal, one less thing to hide from the kids! On an up note we did get Mickey mail yesterday! :cool1:

Just got back from our trip using MBs. They were wonderful. As a first-timer (I.e. not used to using paper fast passes) I found it extremely helpful to have a few rides planned out in advance. We pulled 2 paper fast passes over 6 days at the parks. I didn't realize that when Test Track was down we could have just walked to any other ride to use a FP - would have saved me a 20 minute Maelstrom wait! lol But now I know. My kids were spoiled rotten between FP and rider swap (we have a 2-year-old). We never had any problems getting into the park or using the bands at all. We now miss them terribly - had to dig money out of my purse to pay for things on the way home! The horror! :rotfl:

I only tried to change on the fly a couple times, seemed to work okay from my phone. Didn't see the kiosks or might have used those.

Awesome! Thanks for the good report! :goodvibes

I just recently booked a room only reservation at Disney. When I look at my profile and my family members, it has a picture of a ticket next to it. I thought we would be getting the Magic Bands? I'm confused!

Here's a question that I haven't noticed previously. Family of 4 with MBs & FPP already booked. DD doesn't like a Ride tht we have a FPP for. DS LOVES this ride. There r no other rides/attractions that DD wants. Is it possible and/or allowed to swap MBs between DD & DS so that DS can ride this same ride 2ce?

This is encouraging! Looking forward to trying ours out in a few weeks (they were just delivered yesterday) and hoping everything goes smoothly!

From everything I have read, it is possible ... just have them swap bands for him to ride using her FP (of course, it would have to be within that same window!) ... not sure how anyone could prevent that (or if they would care)? :thumbsup2

My husband and I did this at Space Mountain last week (He loves it!). We asked the CM, and this particular guy was very pleasant about it.
