***NEW MyMagic & FastPass+ Official Information & FAQ Thread***

n2mm thank you! good to hear we can 'fix' our DS's family FP+ once their tix arrive via fed express. I opened a thread on DVC board but will post here too that:

If you need your tickets immediately to make fast pass reservations, choose the will call option, otherwise you will have to wait until the hard tickets arrive in the mail to get your numbers that you can link to MDE.

DVC Member services CM went into their account to try and add the will call number and found out it wouldn't work. Oh well, whenever the tix do show up we'll go from there. Not going to stress too much after reading your story.

btw we activated our PAPs in June (will call) didn't have a problem linking them to the FP system.

Quoting is broken for me at the moment for some reason...

On a related note, she sent me this info from World of Walt:

Swan And Dolphin Testing
In separate but related news, Disney will start testing MyMagic+ for guests staying at the Walt Disney World Swan and Walt Disney World Dolphin Resorts. This testing will take place from November 4, 2013 through January 12, 2014.
This will be the first test of the new technology with people who aren’t staying at a Disney Resort Hotel.
However, there is a key difference between the experience that guests of the Swan and Dolphin will have versus the experience guests of all the Disney-owned Resorts will have.
Guests at the Swan and Dolphin will not get MagicBands, and they will not be able to make their FastPass+ reservations in advance. However, they will be able to make same-day FastPass+ reservations by visiting a MyMagic+ kiosk in the park.
These changes – no MagicBands and having to make only same-day FastPass+ reservations – are pretty big differences.
Could this be a preview of the perks that Disney Resort Hotel guests will get – meaning that only Disney Hotel guests will get the bands and advance FastPass+ scheduling?
Or does this just mean that Disney is just testing a different combination of elements as part of the overall testing process?

This appears more like a test of how "day guests" will be handled, without prior set up of accounts, etc.

There are no plans to give non-Disney resort guests MagicBands (although they may be able to purchase them), except for Annual Passholders, but they haven't done anything for them yet.

Advanced FP+ access is supposed to be available to all with an MDX account and valid ticket media, but the "test" hasn't been extended to the general public yet.

We tried it Sunday. I asked at the check-in desk - they didn't know anything about this test. I talked to the concierge, and there is supposed to be a marked "kiosk" specifically for Swan/Dolphin guests inside each park entrance.

At the International Gateway, the "kiosk" was actually a CM at a table next to the IG wheelchair/ECV station with a placard on it with the S/D logos, and she had an iPad equipped with a scanner. She was actually late, so while I was looking for an actual kiosk, she walked past, and I had to ask the CM at the bridge where it was supposed to be.

By then there was a family of at least 8 in front of me, and the CM was trying to explain, made difficult that they weren't all there, and flitting in and out, and trying to decide who wanted what, etc. etc. Then after they were told they could only get Soarin' OR Test Track, and they shouldn't use regular FP if they use FP+, they finally decided to not bother.

I was able to tell her she didn't need to explain anything to me. :)

I only needed to show my Dolphin room key, then she scanned my AP, and my wife automatically popped up. This was sort of interesting - yes, we are linked together, but so are my two kids, who didn't show up - but they weren't with us this trip. Not sure how they knew, or it just happened to be an "accurate glitch".

Things were definitely tiered. We selected three attractions, and it came up with an "optimized" random set of times. As I was only doing this for a test, and only cared about Soarin' (we were getting a regular FP for Test Track - if we could get there in time to get one that overlapped some friends who already had a FP+), I wanted as early as possible for Soarin'. But rather than edit the individual time, she kept asking it to get random times, seeing what was the earliest it could get. It came up with a 10am and we took it.

She asked if I wanted to take a screenshot of the iPad or have the itinerary emailed to me...no print options. She didn't even mention the app.

In general, I don't think many if not most of the S/D guests even KNEW about this. But if they did, this single CM at the IG would not be sufficient. By the time we got to Test Track, regular FP was already at 10:30am and accelerating rapidly...it was about noon within 10 more minutes.

AND - even though it was done with my AP AND it knew it was linked in MDX...I still cannot make FP+ selections via MDX in advance (like others who were "activated" after staying at a resort), nor could I make changes FROM THE APP. The app showed the FP+ in the plans, but I could not change them or make others.

No way they could handle non-resort guests this way at all.

Please excuse this question, as I'm sure it has been asked and answered, but I couldn't find the info on the main page, and I couldn't get through this whole thread!

Are there restrictions on what rides you can get FP+ for? For example, at Epcot, we'd like to get 2 for Test Track and 1 for Soarin', but is this allowed? At HS, we'd like to get 1 each for Toy Story, RnR and ToT - would that be allowed? Way back when I had heard that there would be limits, I'm just not sure if it was ever settled. Thanks for any help!!

In general, only one per attraction per day. So no, you can't get two for Test Track.

In addition, at Epcot, they've set two "tiers" - you can only get ONE FP+ from Tier 1 (Soarin', Test Track, Maelstrom, Character Spot and I'm not sure what else), and the other two must come from Tier 2.

This has not happened at the other parks...yet.

Thanks so much for the quick response! But, boy, that stinks :headache:

I kind of assumed we wouldn't be able to get two in one day for one attraction, but if you can't get both Soarin' and Test Track, what the heck else is anyone using them for??? I can't think of anything else in Epcot that has habitually long lines :confused3 Oh well, back to the planning drawing board....

I originally added my husbands "will call" number for his DVC PAP before the trip, and it worked perfectly. Of course getting the actual PAP was a mess as I've mentioned in past treads. I think one of the problems is in regard to will call, is if you buy more than 1 ticket at a time. So if you bought 4 tickets and wanted them to go to 4 people, the will call number won't realize that, so I would suggest anyone buying tickets via will call, to buy them 1 at a time. Once I attached the will call number to my husband's account, it stated that it was attached to him.....hope that makes sense.

Yea, my activated PAP in May was a real PITA -- though it was the exchange ticket from the paper version. My daughter and her family had new PAPs from May and I had no problem with linking those at all and they worked perfectly during her Oct. trip using her magic bands.

We are dvcmembers and are staying on site. Other family are staying off site. Am I correct that fp+ is available to them once they purchase their tickets? Trying to get a family of 10 to ride together. Once they get their tickets can I link them to my disney experience so I can get our fast passes in line? Thanks for help and sorry if this has already been answered.

At this time, no. Unless they also stay on-site, you cannot book FP+ experiences for them.

Thank you. Been trying to read through everything and eyes starting to get blurry.

We have DVC also and were not able to pull up the tix with the will call numbers. We opened an IT case and they were magically linked about 3 days after the ticket purchase, but before the tix got here via FedEx. Good luck!

Will they be able to get fp+ with ticket purchase even though staying off site?

No. FP+ is not available to guests not staying at a Disney operated resort at this time (with the exception of the Swan and Dolphin, which is currently testing limited access).

There is no public timetable for when non-resort guests will have access.

They can still get regular Fastpass.

hmmm perhaps I will call IT tomorrow in that case. now to find a direct IT phone number:)

Don't know if this was posted here yet but disney has announced that annual pass holders that do not have magic bands already or do not have a planned resort stay will be getting magic bands in 2014 not this year. I got this information at least where I saw it first from Ricky Brigante at Inside the Magic.

I heard guests arriving in March can now customize their MB's is this true? I had a look to see and couldn't see anything but then I may have been looking in the wrong place...?

I was able to do ours for feb 19th checkin.

I know we can book 60 days out from arrival but when do the new reservations "load"? Is it at midnight EST or later (like the dining site)?

We just got back from a trip (and love MB's and FP+) - but are going again in April. I want to jump on FP+ ressies as soon as they open.

So does that mean when 2014 hits, if we have an AP linked to our MDX account, we'll be able to customize MBs, or do you think it will still only be within a certain time frame prior to our trip? Either way, good news!

I'm probably way too early with my questions, we're not going to WDW until May, but here goes anyway.
Please excuse if this question has been asked before, I did not read the entire thread.

Is there any chance we will be asked to participate in the trial eventhough we live abroad?
Or will the Magic Bands already have been rolled out by May? (OK, that's a stupid question and I don't expect anyone to know specifically)
The prospect of getting to use the MBs has finally gotten DFI really excited for our trip... the nerd! :rotfl:

I've read that - at least for now - the MBs aren't getting shipped overseas. Which means I won't be able to customize them with MDE? Does that mean we will (IF we will) receive them at our resort? Would I then still be able to add FP+ for the same day? For me, this sounds like receiving the MBs upon checkin and then spending the first hour of my trip customizing my MB?

Probably not a concern for most of you, so I'm grateful for any input!

You will get them in May. Everyone gets them now. You can customize but you receive at the resort not at home so you will still have regular ME papers to scan for that services. If you don't customize you don't get custom bands. There is no customizing at the resort.

You can link your tickets and make FP+ as soon as that shows up available to you, not sure if they are sticking with the 60days out.
