***NEW MyMagic & FastPass+ Official Information & FAQ Thread***

OK, since you are unfamiliar with it, first, a stock answer:

Just to avoid any confusion, there are TWO different things that some people refer to as "child swap", "baby swap", etc.

First, there is a formal system in place at most all Fastpass attractions that have a height requirement, called Rider Switch. Follow the link for complete details (and exceptions), but this is what most people will respond with for answers.

Second, at all other attractions, or at the Rider Switch attractions where a child simply chooses not to ride, there MAY be a way to accommodate the situation. However it is different at each attraction because of the different ways loading and unloading are handled which are often in different locations. Ask the greeting CM for what the possibilities are.

Now, as for using FP/FP+ in conjunction with Rider Switch - USUALLY this is no problem. Whoever is going to ride first will need a FP/FP+, and the one who stays behind will use the Rider Switch pass and can bring up to two others with them so they don't need to ride alone.

However, on rare occasions some CMs have asked for odd differences - I've seen them require the person staying to have a FP, which they will trade for the RS pass, or (even rarer) insist that the first group use the standby line only. But these are VERY rare.

Of course, with FP+ there isn't anything specifically to trade, and they'd have to be scanned for validity, so I think such odd occurrences will stop.

QUESTION FOR YOU ON THE RIDER SWITCH LINK....these rider switch passes that are noted in this is from 2007 - DO YOU KNOW FOR SURE THEY ARE STILL ALLOWING 3 people to come back on the pass??? Thank so much for your help!!! :hippie:

I am trying to plan my FP+s for about 30 days out. All the FPs that I want on a particular day -- there are NO openings between 11:45-2:45. Can they possibly be gone this far out or are they holding this time period back for whatever reason and releasing as time goes on? Anybody know?

Are you meaning the "options" they initially give? Or after you grab some, when you try to change them?
If the first, try taking whatever they offer and then go to each 'experience' individually and try changing the time. I had better luck that way. Also some people have reported issues when trying to book too close to ADRs ... system may be glitchy in regards to that.
Good luck!

trying to change the times. All have 9-10:00 available, some 10-11 and 11-12:00......but then NOTHING until 2:45.

Yes they still allow 3 to come back.

Couple questions I have not been able to find definitive answers on (yes, I know there aren't many of those to begin with)

1. Are FP+ reservations spaced out 2 hours apart? So if I get one for 10am, the next will have to be at noon and the third at 2pm? This really crimps the pool/lunch break and hopping more than I had previously considered.

2. Are FP+ reservations also spaced 2 hours around ADR's? Coupled with whatever answer question 1 has, this could lead me to not be able to really plan any FP's that would be worth my while.

No and no.

1) Minimum is 1 hour (9-10, 10-11, 11-12 etc).
2) It will let you book at the same time as an ADR, it will tell you that it "overlaps" with ADR.

So this may be a dumb question, but with people being notified for testing at random points its been hard to tell.....

Will the booking window for FP+ still be 60 days out from your check in date? We will next go in July, so does that mean we'd be able to book in May?

I don't think anyone can predict what's going on with FP+ a month from now, much less six. Sorry!

Yes they still allow 3 to come back.

Have you been and used this lately? :goodvibes my TA gave me the site below, I then copied and paste where it states there that only 2 guest are allowed back....SO SORRY TO QUESTION THIS - but my TA has never used this personally so she doesn't know first hand...and I need 3 people to be able to return.... THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR YOUR EXPEREINCE! this is my first time..... :goodvibes

{If the person in Party 2 waited alone with the child, he or she may bring one Guest back to ride the attraction with him or her. Please note: Only 2 Guests are allowed per Rider Switch Pass}

I know...I just thought that had been the rule and wondered if anyone had heard otherwise. We don't have our tickets yet and don't want a last minute 'oh my gosh we can book FP, hurry up and order tickets, wait for them to come, register them on the Disney site' and then we'll have missed out on booking what we wanted.

I don't know the answer but will help you speculate: If just the three rides you want are not available, it is possible that your particular rides are "sold out". If all the rides including the "least desired" are blocked off, it could be one of two things:

1) For whatever reason, they have decided to not make FP+ available at that time.
2) Tecnical issue.

Your choices are to go with plan B but try back repeatedly for plan A. You could also book other ride and show up somewhat earlier in the morning and pull standard fastpasses for the rides you need to take around noon.

You could also call the internet helpdesk. I have found them to be very helpful and responsive (unlike the ticket desk or CRO or other outlets). I am not sure if this isssue rises to that level of urgency but you can always call....

Good Luck

Over the last few days, with a lot of trouble we were finally able to link our reservations. Last night we did our FP+ reservations for upcoming Dec 20 through 25 vacation.

We had the following glitch while doing our FP+ reservatoins: For the very first time using the system, after we had selected rides and times for our first park, the system came back and said "FP+ not available for select members in your group. This is because these members have exceeded FP+. Please select alternate days to trade FP+" We found this odd because this was our first use of he system.

Well, by accident, we found that if you hit the "back button" and resubmit, you will find another subset of your group with FP+ available, but if you do it a few times, everyone eventually gets in.

BTW, we discovere this while waiting on hold at which point we hung up and proceeded with this procedure.

Wondering if this is a known glitch and if our procedure is a standardized way to make the FP+ ressies? Or was this problem ours alone?

We were just there in July and they let you bring 2 back with you, so 3 guests altogether. It used to be one. We had two strollers and 11 of us, so we split into two groups to get our Child Swaps, and that way 2 of us waited out with the kids, 7 went in and rode, and then 6 of us could go back in and ride again. We were supposed to have a FP for all 9 of us, but a couple of times, we just showed up at the podium and they gave us the switch pass.

We brought both our older boys back each time this spring for every ride that our youngest one couldn't ride. Never had an issue.

Unless it changed this morning...absolutely. :) It hasn't changed in years, so no need to change the images. Plus I'm no longer eligible to get them as my youngest is too tall...but I have plenty of friends who still do.

The "official" page on the WDW web site is very wrong about several aspects of Rider Switch...

Interesting. So today's the day that Disney will supposedly stop issuing KTTW cards at check-in at some resorts.

The only thing that ''bugs'' me out about this part of the test is that it means that some guests might still be able to get both FP+ and regular FP while others will only have the ''legal'' ;) FP+ on Magic Bands only...

Wonder how it will all come out!
