New mugs

Just wondering if the new mugs are at all the resorts? And, are they already for sale? We'll be at BWV in a few weeks and would love to be able to get a new one.

We'll be there this weekend. When I get back I can report which resorts had them and which didn't of the resorts we'll be visiting. (BW will be on that list - even though we're not staying there we always go visit our "home." )

The new design will be made available as soon as the old inventory is sold out. Several resorts are already using the new mugs.

Hate the new mugs, they are not Resort specific. What they will do though is make people that use mugs from previous trips less likley to do so in the future. I suspect less people will use mugs from previous trips as they will now stick out with thier white mug against a sea of new red mugs.

May end up being a revenue boost for Disney as more people will pony up the $13.95. We'll see.

Hot topic I know and it drives me nuts to see people filling up their 'resort' specific mug during the past two years when the mugs were the 'year of a million dreams'

I really like the mugs. I know that we all want them to be resort specific but what can we do?

We will be purchasing 4 of them in a (hopefully) short 19 days

I am kind of glad that they are not resort specific...It will be to our advantage because we will be staying at three different resorts this year...

And they actually look kind of cute

They look cute. We got a lot of mileage out of the blue mugs last year. We stayed at several different resorts so just reused them.

We'll be at SSR next month and will buy 4 of them. I understand they have 3 different colors - red, yellow & black. I'll bring one of the blue lids from the old ones so that we can have 4 different lids.

We just came back today and the ones we got with the Deluxe Dining Plan at AKV were the white ones we had from a year or so ago, definitely not the cute red ones in the picture.

I like the looks of the new mugs. Looking forward to getting a couple in May. Since we usually stay in Studios, we use the refillable mugs a lot.

In May we are doing split stays. Three nights at AKV on qsdp...1 mug for 3 of us, baby doesn't "count",; 7 nights at OKW with my son in law joining us from Iraq for his R&R, qsdp, 4 more mugs, then 9 nights at SS on developer points, DXDDP and FOUR MORE mugs......that is 11 mugs in one trip. Just thought of that after reading this thread....

Off topic, but after reading your post I had to go count the mugs I have. 19. I knew they were stacking up, but I didn't how just how many were there. There's only DS9, DH and I. We've always followed "the rules" and purchased new mugs each time. They do make great coffee mugs for travel.

We used 8 of them as loot bags for my daughters Disney themed birthday party. Just filled them with all sorts of candy! Now I just have 4 left but they have been well used and are now faded from the dishwasher. I *sniff* suppose it's time to let them go. I'll keep the lid from one to use on the new mugs.

We just got back last night and found that not all of the resorts have switched over to the new mugs yet. We stayed at Sports (this was a bonus last minute trip, and we couldn't get a DVC ressie), and I was able to get a new mug there. I did check some other resorts and found that the Boardwalk Bakery, Beach Club Marketplace, and Contempo Cafe still had old mugs on Saturday. Poly and Grand Floridian had new ones. And I still saw some people with the old designs at the resorts with the new ones, so they are switching over gradually. (Of course I also saw some old resort mugs too - a CB one at Sports!)

The info on the side of the mug has changed and says that not only is the mug good only through your length of stay, it says it's only good at the resort where it was purchased. I thought this was interesting.

We were told by our Guide and anyone else that we asked that this was the rule - only good for your length of stay at the resort where you were staying. We had mugs from our previous stay, but bought new ones because we did not feel that it was right or fair to others to break the rule if it was in place.

I am doing a split stay in August as well--both at SSR and WL. We are doing the QSDP for both stays. I know that mugs are good at only the resort, but I do wish, in situations like this for DVC members, that we could just reuse our 1st mugs. I don't really need to come home with 8 mugs. While I know that I have paid for them (since the dining plans will technically be two separate plans), it just seems like a waste.
