New mug and glass poll

How do you feel about the removal of glassware from DVC Studios?

  • I hate it and will be writing a complaint!

  • Don't like it, but not going to complain.

  • It doesn't really bother me.

  • I don't stay in studios, so this doesn't apply to me.

OK, since there are so many complaints about the other and the OP on it doesn't feel like changing it, we will try again! Hopefully this will cover the wide range of feelings on it.

once it is started there is no option to reword the poll so :P

Did you watch that "special" about unclean glasses? :scared1:

I'll take my clean disposable cup, please!

FYI - We but the refillable mugs and bottle water anyway.....so it does not effect us! :goodvibes

I completely agree, but after I found out it was not a resort wide policy, but a DVC policy, I was pretty annoyed! I personally don't really care about the glasses and mugs themselves, but actually think all the paper/plastic should be "real" dishes.

Thing is you have the option to wash ceramic and glass. Styro doesn't wash as well and since they are also removing the dish soap etc. you won't be able to easily clean your refillable mugs either unless you bring your own.

A disposable cup is only as clean as the last person who touched it and since that person may have just cleaned the bathroom, this brings up a whole new level of sanitary.

That was another concern of mine, Hotels that have switched from glass to plastic have also gone to sealed platic, so you know that it is clean...just having a stack of styrofoam in a room doesn't put your mind at ease, who is to say that the previous guests wasn't washing and reusing those cups...or they didn't fall on the floor, etc. When I found out this was a DVC thing, it really irritated me than, if it was company wide, I could at least not feel that DVC was shoving this down our throats.

I guess I'm a tad confused... If dishwashing technology is such a difficult concept for DVC to get a handle on, why don't they just mosey on over to any number of Disney restaurants with a notebook and pencil and see how they do it. I take it we are all still going to dine in restaurants and use the glasses and mugs served to us there without reservation. So evidently, a solution to removing nasty grime and invisible bugs does exist that will make us all happy. The current generation of DVC problem solvers (unfortunately, a rather un-distiguished group so far) just needs to figure it out.

This is one of my major problems with the change. Since I know from past experience that the Cereamic mugs & Glasses don't get cleaned by mousekeeping prior to my checking in I got in the habit of cleaning everything myself which should not have been necessary since I am paying dues for this service. I've had to clean gunk & god knows what else off the table & nightstands numerous times. I've had to ask for replacements of cracked mugs & chipped glasses. I've been in rooms where the blinds were falling down & the curtains were half ripped from the rods. I don't know what it is that mousekeeping actually does that it takes them so long to turnover a room once the previous guests have vacated since they obviously don't do a thourough cleaning between guests. But all my venting aside, I still want those ceramic mugs & glasses in my studio since that is what I use at home. And I have sent my e-mail. I am still composing my letter & trying to compile a list of everyone in the Disney Company I want to send it to all the way up to and including Iger.

I voted "it doesn't really bother me", but truthfully prefered the wording on the other poll "I don't care" - which is more accurate.

Is there no option for people who like the new policy? A few people are in favor of the change, no?

I voted hate it and will write a letter. I can't believe the decision makers gave so little thought to how this change would be received. If they did think about it and didn't care how we would react, it doesn't look good for our general satisfaction in the years to come.

We like to purchase a couple of 20 ounce bottles of diet soda and juice and put them in the studio fridge to share later (via the glasses). We then have a nice small glass of the icy cold beverage when we are taking a break in the room or at night. Have any of the decision makers ever had that yucky feeling on their teeth when drinking from a styrofoam cup? To me it is a total turn-off. My DH feels the same way about having to drink his morning coffee from a styrofoam cup - and why should he have to after the premium price we pay to be members of DVC, which is supposed to be a high-quality timeshare (ok, pre-paid vacation plan)?

If the glasses, mugs, and dishsoap haven't returned by our trip in May, I will be calling Mousekeeping for them and they best not say no!

I would put that in the "it doesn't bother me category"....either because you actually support the change or that it doesn't make a difference to you either way. I didn't want to dilute the poll with too many options and felt that anyone could find an answer that fit them.

I voted "Don't like it, but not going to complain".

I don't agree with the change, but it's more of a minor inconvenience to me than a major issue for me to complain to DVC about. Besides, it seems like there are plenty of other members that are apparently outraged by this change and will be complaining to DVC. I'd rather limit my complaints to problems that I consider to be of major impact.

Oh no, another flawed poll? Don't tell me there will soon be a third poll on this issue?

This is becoming bigger than the unclean bathroom issue at SSR! :rotfl:

Nothing could be bigger or more heart wrenching than that! I am still horrified whenever I think of it.....:scared1:

I respect your opinion, but my own fear is that if we don't speak up about the little changes, even more "reductions" in our enjoyment and/or convenience will follow. Will the toasters vanish next? Will we be forced to bring our own toiletries? Will toilet tissue and paper towel quantities become just "starter packs?" I know these examples sound farfetched, but I really dislike the small losses that seem to be occurring at WDW and DVC over the years.

And, with the push by airlines to limit our luggage, I don't want to be forced to pack more items, especially ones we've already paid for.

Since I drive down, it's not a big issue for us to throw in a couple extra items.

I support everyone's right to complain. If you want to complain to DVC -- go for it! It sounds like they are getting lots of complaints. We can only hope they bring back the ceramic mugs and glasses in the Studios.

First I've heard about this. Without a kitchen, I don't find it to be a big deal.

Could someone fill me in or point me in the right direction as to WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. ;) I have no idea :confused3 Seiously, what is the issue, what about mugs and glasses? What change?

Mugs and glasses have been removed from studios and replaced with paper or plastic and styrofoam. Also, dish soap and sponges are no longer in the studios, as they think there is nothing to wash.
