New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

My healthy diet went out the door. The only things that would make me feel better were all the foods that pack on the pounds. I also ate every hour or two...that probably helped the most. Ginger ale just made me sick, too much sugar. I had trouble with water too.

Have you tried ginger tea? Eat a lot of starches and pasta, like mac-n-cheese. It used to make me sick making it for my kids, but I'd eat it anyway and always felt better. ;)

I truly hope that you will be done soon. There is nothing worse than morning sickness. :goodvibes

BTW, do you have your due date yet?

I've lost nearly 7 pounds being sick. I have to admit I have found that eating smaller meals definitely helps. DH and I were just talking about it last night. I think that I am going to start trying to eat 5-6 small meals per day rather than 3 large meals. I've been noticing as well that I can handle starches like bagels and rice far better than anything else.

Speaking of water - I can barely drink it without being nauseated. I try to force myself though just because I know that I need to keep myself hydrated.

I got my due date on Monday - it is March 5, 2009. I've had 2 previous c-sections so I will have another sometime in mid to late February, the later the better for me! I like big fat healthy babes!!! :lovestruc

What have you guys been doing for morning sickness? I don't remember being nearly this sick with my other 2. I've lost about 7 pounds in three weeks. I can barely keep anything down. At this point, I am existing on ginger ale, fruit loops and bagels. I can't even keep water down most of the time!

HELP!

I haven't had much (lucky me), but I made myself eat a little, even if I wasn't hungry. I didn't feel sick very often, I mostly just didn't want food. :rotfl: So I've dropped a few pounds, which is fine with me at this point! :thumbsup2

I would feel sick if I had an empty stomach, ate too much or ate too fast. So I say just try to nibble on things all day. Also, if you can find chewable papaya enzyme tablets, those helped me a lot.

Morning sickness stayed away from me, so I can't offer any help on that one..... When I did get the occasional sick feeling I used the preggy pops and they are GREAT!!!! Even though I didn't battle with morning sickness I still lost weight - I'm actually down 24 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight!!! This is due to me having to be on a gestational diabetes diet though - no carbs and no sugar!

Please tell me that all of you who are losing weight or not gaining hardly anything are in your 20's!!! Then I won't feel as bad for all the weight I am gaining.:thumbsup2 :lmao:

I'm in my early 30s, but I'm expecting to gain it all back and then some, starting very soon. :lmao: It's still early for me!

I barely gained any weight in the begining when I was sick. I too felt better when I would eat starches...potatoes or pasta type meals. Now that I only have about 6-7 weeks to go I have gained about 30lbs but I am hoping that is mostly baby and fluids, etc because it only seems to be in my belly and my breasts.

I hope soo...but I have a feeling baby will be more 8.5-9lbs:scared1: so far in every u/s he has been in the 90th percentile for weight and is already going to be condisered 3 wks early since my original due date was oct 9 and right now we are loooking at a due date of 09-18. He just seems to be developing early, but as long as everything is normal and he is healthly than I say Yah! to being pregnant for a shorter amount of time.

:cool1: Yay for earlier babies!!!!

I had an u/s just a few days ago and the tech was surprised that our little one was already weighing 12-13 ounces when he/she should only be weighing about 7-8 right now!!

Yep at my 20 week u/s he was 16oz when he should have been around 9-10oz...and my 32 he was over 4lbs when he should have been in the 3lb's...or so they say is average. He is just going to be tall I figure...all of DH family is tall and his sister had all big babies....so it did not really suprise us! lets just hope it doesn;t hurt too much since I am very very short....but thats what the drugs are for. I just hope I don;t end up having to have an c/s because I think that would just freak me out knowing that I am awake and somebody is cutting me open.

If you are set on drinking water I wonder if the flavored water or packets you add to your water might help? Worth a try!

Sorry Lisa, I'll be 34 in 2 weeks and I've gained 8 pounds......:rolleyes1

Happy early B-day Jen! I'll be 33 in 4 weeks and I've also gained 8 pounds....and I'm about 20 weeks behind you!:scared1: :scared: :rotfl:

who is/was sure about the gender of your child? Were you right? Did you want to be surprised?

For my DD3, I knew she was going to be a girl...just had that feeling...then had 2 different dreams and both were a girl. I'm leaning toward boy on this one but only b/c I feel so different this time around (which really means nothing except my body saying, "oh, you're preggo, I know what to do!")

With my first baby, I gained 70 lbs :scared1: I had to eat small meals throughout the day to hold off the nausea, but didn't choose the best ones, obviously. I ended up with back problems, so this time I'm trying very hard to stick to the 20-35 lbs, max.

I just wanted to report that Amanda (PrincessBride010103 ) delivered baby Eric this morning at 11:08am and he is 7 pounds 12 ounces!

I'm sure she would want all of you to know :dumbo:
