New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

I am so jealous of all of you that are gaining such a little amount of weight!!! I gained 30+ with my last two and I am only 5 feet tall!!! Starting this pregnancy I feel like I am already the size I was when i delivered my now almost 6 year old. I am SCARED to open the maternity bin and not fit my big toe into those clothes!!

Dont feel bad...at 29 weeks I have gained 26 lbs  i still have 11 weeks to go :scared1:

Now I was like 30 lbs overweight, so I could tell throughout the pregnacy that I was losing body fat and was really shocked to get on the scale the day I came home from the hospital. My friend that was actually Sam & Zoe's NICU nurse for a couple of days came to see me in the hospital the day before they were born and told me I would be in shock to see the weightI had lost but I really had no idea! Like i said though, being a SAHM, I have gained some back nibbling here and there.

I'm REALLY curious to see what happens to me afterwards. I was about 10 pounds overweight, so very likely I will be at my prepregnancy weight or a little lower, because I too can tell I've lost body fat (face, neck, arms, etc). Still, I was so petite and I'm not sure how things will fall back into place, since I am all out front right now. We'll just have to see!

thanks, tink!

we do call them jillian and annabel 90% of the time. the rest of the time they are Bean (it started out at jillie-bean) and Bel or belbel.

I always wanted a Kate, but it is waaaaaay too popular so thn We wanted an Anna and went thru Anneliese, Suzanna, etc. and agreed on Annabel..and then she was born and has not one time been called Anna. She was only Belbel or Annabel!

Our boy name was always August Teisen (family names, would go by Gus) but now we are wavering... I am thinking Teisen spelled that way seems girlie. So maybe a first name for a girl, but then it is not nearly as girlie as my OTHER children's names.

Jillian wants to name the baby FIONA (big shrek fan) Annabel is gunning to name the baby Genevieve (big 12 dancing princesses fan) I am shooting for Melody (big little mermaid fan ;) and DH is saying Bridget.

We will need a nice neutral name we can all agree on. HELP

Any ideas out there for 3 syllable girls names? I have a Jillian Elise and an Annabel Kate. So, I would like ( i think) to stick w/ three syllables again. And please, please, please let this child be a girl too!! I don't even know where to begin w/ a boy ....

I'll give you my girl name.... I love it. Jocelyn

If we were having a girl, it would have been Jocelyn Ann. Both DH and my Mom's middle names are Ann.

Oh, I hear you! I'm one of the women in the school that says you better not DARE rub my stomach or I'll likely wail on you.... and yet there is this one lady at church that practically lays all over it when I'm there. I hadn't been in a while until my bedrest restrictions were listed, and went one day a couple weeks ago. She was all over me and said "You're so nice and round!" ..... DH said I should have laid my hands on her stomach and said "You are too!"

I do and have said something to people touching me. They always looked shocked and then I rub their belly fat and then they get it. It's like DUH!!!! Let me feel your rolls...............

Me too! Gained like 45 lbs with both boys! I have no problem losing the baby weight, it's the weight I gained after quitting smoking almost 5 years ago. :smokin:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Jillian..it's one of my favorites. I don't know why DH won't come around on that one. We've got some different girl's names going though.

Carolina/Carolena (both pronounced like Carolina Herrera, the designer)
Christabel (DH's favorite)
Stella (after my other grandmother---only problem is our last name begins with an S)

Boys:
Luca/Luka --from the Godfather and Italian...2 requirements of DH

I think I look like I carry my babies in my behind :rotfl:

My first pregnancy, I didnt care. I wore really form fitting dresses and figured nobody looked at anything but my belly ... not the case anymore, you can't miss the rest of me ;)

I am a SAHM too. I was a size 2 after my first baby (stress, hubby went to Iraq when DD was 6 mo.) ... That was before the days of Macaroni and Cheese for lunch! I am a closet fan, and cannot resist if the kids are eating it!!! PBJ too. Yum.

Ahh, I admire you! :worship: I want to so badly!

I am 4'11 if that helps any!

Aww thanks for being so kinda about my belly ladies :goodvibes I get so self conscious!! People ask me when I'm due - I tell them Jan 2 and they look like this :scared1: They can't believe I'm only 10 weeks. Despite that, I really kinda like my baby belly.

Here are our name possibilities -

Girls:
Ava Brooklyn
Brooklyn Alexis
Alexa ?
Madison Alexis

Boys:
Levi Alexander
Carson Alexander
Noah ?
Ethan ?

We toured labor and delivery before my appointment today and it is beautiful where we're having the baby. I can't wait to get there and have him!

We finished the nursery this week. Wanna see pictures? http://s83.photobucket.com/albums/j312/octoberbeauty/nursery

So, we are ready for Noah James to make his arrival.

Weight wise, I've gained about 11 pounds this pregnancy. I was overweight to start with, so I didn't need to gain much. I'm hoping to be below my prepregnancy weight after having him and hoping breastfeeding will take off even more.

Welcome Liz! Congrats on #3. Are you as nervous as I am?

Your nursery is beautiful! Great job!

Ok. You all are really depressing me. Honestly, how are you all gaining such a little amount of weight? I really want to know. I know with my two boys, I ate a ton of chix nuggets and strips in the beginning and started off badly. But, I haven't changed my diet, have been eating completely healthy, no pop or sugar drinks, and I have still gained 4 lbs. How do you do it? I don't want to gain 45 lbs again!:confused3

Don't stress yourself out Lisa. Everybody is different. I'm no petite flower to begin with, so gaining just a little is good for me (I must have good reserves). My problem is after delivery I seem to put it all back on.
:confused3

I wouldn't call it unusual, but this time around I had the worst gas pains I've had in my life. It's right at the center top of my stomach, where the ribs come together. I feel like I've been stabbed. They were so bad before we went to WDW I thought we were going to have to cancel our vacation. I could barely move or sleep. I was in tears for days.

Finally some OTC meds worked, but it took a few days to get back to feeling normal. Even now, if I start feeling the pains again, I rush for some gas-x.

Never in my life have I felt this pain before.

With my first pregnancy I grew facial hair! EEWWW Well, that's been lasered off.

I had another prenatal appointment yesterday and it didn't go so great.

My urine is good - no sugar, no protein, nothing bad. I haven't gained any weight, I've actually lost 3 pounds since 10 days ago when I was at the doctor last. Last time I was seen they did a random glucose and it was not good. My OB had me check my sugar 6 times a day until my next appointment (2 weeks). My doctor didn't like my blood sugars from the past 2 weeks and my Hemoglobin A1C wasn't too great (that tests for overall sugar management). I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes - already - at 10 weeks pregnant. I am being referred to to an endocrinologist who specializes in GD. I also have to begin seeing my OB every 2-3 weeks rather than every 4-5 weeks. I can have no sugar now - none - and only 1 serving of "white" carbs like rice and bread daily. I also have to limit my fruit and fruit juice intake. My OB was talking about how if I didn't get this under control my baby could have serious problems, the placenta could have problems, and I could have problems. It's a pretty scary thing even though I know it can hopefully be controlled. I was just so shocked because normally this doesn't develop until late in pregnancy, not 10 weeks.

Edited to add: If anyone is dealing this, I would love any info you have on good things to eat, ways to keep sugars in check, ect...

My sugar before meals should be 80-110 * mine has been anywhere from 52-186 in the last two weeks.

My sugar 2 hours after meals should be 100-140 * mine has been anywhere from the low 60's - 275.

My very good friend was also diagnosed with GD. She had to go on a pretty strict diet and while it was hard at first, she never had any problems with the baby. She said she felt healthier than she's ever felt before and says that now that she's had the baby and is trying to lose weight, it has prepared her for the WWatchers program.

I know it's going to be a long, hard road. Just remember that the gift you will receive in the end is completely worth it!

Have faith and remember that we are all here to support you!

This is all great advice! I know it was shocking to hear, and will be hard to adjust to at first, but so many moms who end up with GD develop such wonderful eating and lifestyle habits that their pregnancies go off without a hitch, and they are better for it in the end. You can do it! :goodvibes
