New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

Okay, maybe TMI, but I'm WELL endowed and breastfeeding doesn't go well. So... I pump and then switch to formula when I dry up.

It works best for our family. The baby gets it's nutrition, and DH can share in the feeding schedule. Plus when I pump and DH is home, I lock myself in the bedroom and turn on the TV and relax with no interruptions.

Going to give breastfeeding a try and hope it works out this time.

I pumped every 3 hours for the first 5 weeks of the twins lives. They would never latch, and after two rounds of mastitis not to mention shredded b**bs, we switched to formula. They were getting two formula feedings per 24 hour day as directed by the NICU anyway, so they have adjusted and thrived! :goodvibes

I too am going to try to breastfeed....figure I have nothing to lose if I don't try. If it does not work, then I would like to pump and feed baby that way. Formula will be a last resort.

Hello all, hoping I can join :goodvibes

We are due with our first on December 20th. :cool1: Right now I am just past the twelve week mark and I have been nonstop sick for the past 5 weeks, and I hope it ends soon!!

On Wednesday we are going for our second sonogram to get the nuchal screening done. I am excited to see the baby actually look human this time!

October Beauty- Where did you get your bedding set? I love it!! It is exactly what I am looking.

Hey ladies..I know nosebleeds are supposed to be common in pregnancy, but holy crap today my nose won't stop bleeding. I've had a cold for about a week now, and (warning: TMI) mostly the stuff coming out of my nose has been green. Today my nose gets stuffy and everytime I blow it, it has been bright red blood! Normal?

i nursed both of mine for a year. somehow it just seems easier. i have had friends that use formula and swear it is much simpler, so I think it is just what works for your family, or what your body is able to produce.

ok so that is normal?? Good to know...since mine has been doing it since yesterday...not a whole lot but a little...but I figure it is soo humid out that my nose is probably pretty dry.

DH felt the baby for the first time last night since he was throwing some pretty good punches (Baby---not DH:lmao: ). It was the first time he has kicked enough for DH to feel. Of course we were watching Footloose on TV...maybe the baby was dancing to the music? :lmao:

did you see that Jessica Alba had her baby. A girl they named Honor Marie...whats with these celebrities naming their kids odd names??

Nosebleeds are normal.

I've been going through the same thing for about 2 weeks. I just keep blowing and blowing and the mucus won't stop and then the blood starts. It's so frustrating. My OB gave me an RX for the z-pack. Man I love that stuff. The green has changed to clear now (TMI?) and the nosebleeds are getting better.

Congrats on your pregnancy! Hope this link works: http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?DeptID=42249&CatID=42342&GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=1332841&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CmCatId=42249|42330|42341|42342
but if it doesn't, you can find the bedding at JCPenney.com Warning though, it took months for everything to come in so be prepared for frustration! But it is beautiful. The only thing I don't like is that the comforter is not reversible.

Well, I am also a b**b girl! I'll be b-feeding my little one too!

Ok, here is the topic of the day... I hope nobody finds it offensive!

:scared1: Horror stories of what other women did during their pregnancies.:scared1:

I'll go first:

I have a SIL from the deep south who never finished going through school and when it comes to smarts or common sense, she just doesn't have all of her ducks in a row (very nice girl though). When she got pregnant with her 1st child, no one lived near her, so we don't know how that went. BUT, with her 2nd child, she was living right around the corner.

I knew she had been smoking heavily (warning: very judgemental poster here --- having had a child pass away, I can't help it, but I am trying to work on it:thumbsup2 ), which is bad in itself. Then she tells me she has to go to the high-risk DR (who I am all too familiar with) and asks me to take her. I stand there and listen to the DR tell her that the baby is in danger, not developing right, and that she needs to change her lifestyle immediately. Most of us would be flipping out.

Later that week, I find out that she told everyone, including her DH, that everything was fine and that she just needed to cut back a little on her smoking. WHAT?!?:badpc: So, after informing everyone of the truth, they let me know that she has been drinking heavily throughout the pregnancy. Are you kidding me?!?

I am a rule follower when it comes to pregnancy. I can't help it. I lost a child. I am more strict than most first-time pregnant women. I had such a hard time with this, still do if you can't tell. To this day, I worry about those two kids and that they will have developmental delays.

It's 9 months...how hard is it to give something up for 9 months?

Here's something I thought was funny (not really): other SIL is having problems conceiving and topic of surrogacy came up. SIL (from above) actually volunteered to carry a baby for her!

No horror stories here but I've been very bad about taking my vitamins. I just can't seem to stomach them anymore. Shhhhh, only DH knows..... LOL

thanks...you reminded me to take mine. But seriously I could not take them in the beginning either. THey made me sick. Doctor gave me prescribed ones but they were too huge (and gel type) so I could not cut them in half and take them...but they were too big and made me gag too. Flintstones chewables also made me:sick: . Doc said it was ok as long as I ate properly. I have been feeling good for over a month now so I am back to being able to take the swallable prenatals.

The only way I could ever take them was at night right before bed. It also made it easy to remember, when they were sitting on my nightstand table. I've been taking them so long now (4 years straight), that I could probably eat them like candy.:rotfl2:

What kind do you all take?

my husband's cousin's girlfriend (still following, guys? lol) smoked pot throughout her entire pregnancy. although baby came out "just fine" weighing in a 6lbs 9oz at birth...he is 2 years old now & he still fits in onsies made for 9 month olds :rolleyes1 He also doesn't speak in sentences and rarely says understandable words even.

ETA- She also went on the Hulk Rollercoaster & Dueling Dragons at Islands of adventure when she was 3 months pregnant because and this is a direct quote "we didn't care because we still thought we were gonna abort him!" They tell this story like it is not horifying!:scared1:
