New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

Happy Sunday Moms' to be. I hope today is a happy day and that you are all feeling well:goodvibes

Thanks! :thumbsup2 Hope you´re doing well too!!! :)
I was having a lot of contractions Friday and Saturday morning. Considered calling the hospital but fortunately they stopped before I did and I´ve been ok. since. I feel I´m getting more tired with each day that passes though.

DD´s (3) birthday was last Friday and one of my other DD´s will turn 6 on tuesday so at least I have a lot going on these days.

Well I'm on total bedrest now and 5 mg of terbutaline every 6 hours, which does absolutely nothing. I'm getting uterus tightening every few minutes, some hours are worse than others. I went back to L&D on Friday night cause it's just so annoying and scary. They gave me 10 more mg of terbutaline, which finally calmed the uterus down. Of course after it wore off and I'm back tot he pills, it does nothing. I'm so scared, I'm feeling them so much. I go back to the OB tomorrow and have a cervical length check on Tuesday to see if I'm dialating.
I'm not even 26 weeks and I'm terrified.

Ohh Dzynlvr2005

I am SO sorry to hear what is going on...hang in there -- it will be okay. Modern medicine today is a wonderful thing -- they will quiet that uterus right down -- the baby is fine!!! Sorry to hear about the bed rest but it is only for 3+ more months (or less) -- think positive thoughts!!

Thinking of you.

Good luck.

-Nicole

PS: Hi to all the new moms to be --- can't wait to join this thread again soon -- Izzy is just shy of 6 months old now -- I am hoping to go through another IVF in about 6 more months.!!

I started my 5th month today! I can't believe how fast this one is going. 2 more weeks and we'll find out the sex!!!!!

Silly question...

I am currently 15 weeks 1 day pregnant. I'm going to see a specialist tomorrow because I have been diagnosed with the MTHFR gene. I'm sincerely hoping that everything will be okay, but am still really nervous about the appointment. The doctor will be doing an ultrasound with a high tech machine...can they tell the gender at that point? My NUMBER ONE concern is the health of the baby...but I wonder if they could see anything then as well.

Good morning everyone, I hope its ok for me to join ya'll. My name's Karly and I'm pregnant with #2 :cool1: :cool1: This one will be a Christmas baby, DH and I are soooo excited. I go Friday for my 1st ultrasound and will get a better due date that what they told me on my first appointment, (they do like their little circle chart don't they :headache: )

It's possible, but I wouldn't count on it. I was 16 weeks when we found out, but he wasn't shy about showing it at all.

Good luck; I hope everything goes well.

They might be able to tell, but don't be disappointed if they can't. It may be a few weeks too early.

Thank you! 3 months is a long time.. I'm trying to think good thoughts.

Dzynlvr2005, I am so sorry. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks...

Well I wound up going back AGAIN to L&D yesterday. I was at my doctors office in the AM and they sent me right back. I was there all day. I got my cervical length which is 3.8cm (very good! thankg god!) and I'm not dialating at all!!! So these things aren't doing anything to my cervix. But they are just so annoying and scary. OB gave me some other medicine that I took yesterday which worked, but I felt so drugged up, it was 2 pills that you're not supposed to take all the time.
Oh Also, I had FFN test and it was negative!!!

Hi: I am new to this thread. DH and I are expecting our 1st Oct 9. Twins apparently run in my mothers side of the family (this was news to me since it came from my maternal grandmothers side of the family which I have never met) so this could be a possibility. But my question was if you are pregnant with twins, do you urinate often. I know I do drink a lot of water, but I go a lot during the day and at least 2-3 times a night. I am wondering because my mom thinks I am urinating too much this early in my pregnancy...she thinks it could be a bladder infection but it does not hurt when I go and when I feel like I have to go---I really have to go. My next dr apt is not til thurs and it is driving me nuts. I am also pretty sure I felt movement at 13 wks 1 day and 13 wks 2 day...and have been feeling some rumbling recently. (what worries me is that my aunt had fraternal twins and she said she felt movement around 12-13 wks). Is frequent urniation another sign of twins since there are two babies sitting on the bladder? I will be 15 wks tommorow. I just have this feeling that there are two. I will have my apt on thurs but to hear the heartbeat because they did not find it last time and he told me not to worry since I was still sick and feeling really exhusted. I have not had an ultrasound yet and will not have one until May unless we do not hear the heartbeat on thurs then I will insist on one.

I'm so glad they ruled out PTL! I have had somewhat intense contractions since about 16 weeks, and they get stronger and more frequent.... but still nothing consistent or anything that is causing cervical changes. They are all just BH contractions, but you are right -- they are mostly just annoying!

So they're letting you off of bedrest, right?! I sure hope so!

Later in the pregnancy, you could certainly go more since you're carrying extra babies to push on your bladder! First trimester bathroom trips, though, are all hormonal -- and therefore different with each woman, each pregnancy -- regardless of the number of babies you're carrying. What are you measuring? We knew we had twins very early since we went through fertility treatment, but I can tell you that by about 10 weeks I was already measuring several weeks ahead. I think that (and, of course, 2 heartbeats!) would have been the biggest "hint", had we not already known. To be honest, even at 28 weeks I'm not peeing as frequently as a coworker due at the same time with a singleton. I don't think it's really a good sign. I hope your appointment goes well on Thursday, and you hear that heartbeat nice and strong! :teeth:

ETA: And :welcome: ! :rotfl:

Okay, wierd question. I have been to the doc several times now(including yesterday) and they have yet to measure my "belly". I realize it has been 6 years since I was last pregnant, but is this something that they have done away with? Every visit I expect the scale, the BP cuff, the HB and then the measuring tape. Never a measuring tape in sight. :confused3

They didn't do my stomach until I was about 25 weeks along or so. Before then my doctors said it wasn't terribly accurate. She did it later just as a comparison. So yes, I made it more than halfway through my pregnancy before I got it.

Dznylvr, my thoughts are with you. I am glad to hear that you are not dilating though.

Thanks. I just thought I was getting old and they had done away with this practice. Good to know I am not crazy...or old ;) .

As Elaine said, I don't think a single doctor will do it until you're 20 weeks (or measuring close to 20 weeks anyway!) because it's not accurate. Before that, they should palpate the top of the uterus, and estimate how you are measuring based on where it is. Ie, at 16 weeks, it should be approximately halfway between the pubis and the navel, etc. They don't bust out the measuring tape until later on :)

Other than listening with the doppler, my doc never touches my belly. Let alone palpitate my uterus. Huh ? :confused3

I'm with the other ladies...i have not been measured by belly...only by weight, blood pressure and trying to hear the heartbeat. I am pretty sure I am feeling movement so I doubt anything would be wrong...but I kinda want baby to not obey and turn on the side where they cannot hear heartbeat. I want an ultrasound bad...I just want to see baby or babies if there should be.
